"They were kind of boy talk, and he was led on, like egg on, from the host to say dirty and bad stuff."

Said Melania Trump to Anderson Cooper, blaming Billy Bush for Donald Trump's pussy-grabbing remark.

What else would you expect from "Billy Bush"?

Probably true but the genie is out of the bottle now.

Just a Snatch of conversation...

In her defense, she's probably too dumb to realize how bad this explanation of Trump's actions makes Trump look.

Having your wife go on CNN to defend your embarrassing behavior. Not only not alpha male, it's what some little boys would ask their mothers to do for them.

so the master persuader is capable of being persuaded.

Baron, I hope you never behave that way.

What a weird coincidence that Billy Bush got Donald Trump to falsely admit to sexually assaulting women in a way that a bunch of women would then confirm was exactly what Trump did to them.

Hagar said...

The Donald was establishing dominance over a junior male, rather crudely, and his behavior did not lose any in the telling. As for his actual behavior, I would think that Trump has a fairly good instinct for which women will "let him do it" and which won't.
Billy Bush's embarrassedly nervous tittering can hardly be described as "egging him on." Melania should not try to spin in it to lay it on him. The Donald is what he is.

Meade said...

Why would any "alpha" male feel a need to establish dominance over Billy Bush?

MayBee said...

And she isn't just some Tammy Wynette, singing "Stand By Your Man"

Hagar said...

Alpha males feel a need to establish dominance over just about any junior male around though they may have different ways of doing it. Trump is in show business.
As does alpha females over other females.

Here's the stupid thing about asking the wife: What is she going to say? Seriously. She's not going to leave him in the middle of a campaign, and she's not going to agree with you that he's gross.

Here's the other stupid thing: There is always some demand to ask the wife. Why do people want to hear what the wife says- at all- but particularly about some sex-ish scandal.

Like I said, it's clear from the context that Bush and the Access Hollywood crew were talking about their colleague Nancy O'Dell's cosmetic surgery when Trump chimed in to recount his rebuff by her and his reaction upon seeing her surgery for the first time.

Whether a bawdy discussion of women preceded that is unknown (unless NBC edited the tape), but entirely likely as they were headed to the set of a soap opera.

Trump then said he goes in for the kiss and told the crew "stars" can do anything, and when asked by the crew "whatever?", Trump supplied the "grab the pussy" line.

Whether Trump considered himself on of those "stars" (not just a celebrity) in 2005 (three years before "The Apprentice") and the "whatever" is "allowed" applied to him, or whether Trump was bragging about his access to "stars" and their behavior, is inconclusive.

But I do wish Althouse would refrain from this assertion about "confessing" to sexual assault. It's just not there. And when I pointed this out at length in numerous comments she failed to rebut. Now she's back with the same assertions about what Trump supposedly "confessed" to.

Prove your case Professor.

Come on, Meade. They are pounding this story every single day. They do not let this go. You know Anderson Cooper pitched this to the campaign that it would relieve some of the pressure of this story for Melania to talk to him.

Yeah, I get she is grossed out. As has been said, if women could hear male thoughts theyd never stop slapping us. Except for Meade that is.

But she hasn't bothered to prove her case that he admitted to sexual assault. She has just assumed it. Lazy.

Top campaign surrogate (and racist idiot) Rudy Giuliani made clear that the language on the video was Trump bragging about sexual assault, but Giuliani claimed that Trump was lying about Trump's own behavior. If you think that the video isn't Trump bragging about sexual assault, take it up with the Trump campaign.

Not a monolithic class. Class diversity (i.e. racism, sexism, etc.) and the Pro-Choice Church have degraded women, men, and babies, too.

This evening, tomorrow morning, . . . keeping it in the news a few more days until the final debate . . . .

Trump, of course, talks to a near stranger on mike on set on the job much more graphically than he does to his wife. . . .

Pounding the pussy story. Pounding it. Hard. In and out of the news. Until it climaxes.

Blame Bush worked well for Obama so Trump's wife is trying it out

J. Farmer said...

"Blame" might be a strong word, but she is certainly correct that Billy Bush was egging on and encouraging Trump's remarks. The whole thing had the feel of a freshman looking up an awe to an upperclassman and salivating at his story's of sexual conquest.

Melania is telling the truth and it confirms the #1 reason teh Dronald is unqualified: he needed to impress Billy fucking Bush. SNL also made this point in the Baldwin apology skit.

Whether she's right or not is beside the point. Some fights are best not had. Why can't the Trumps learn that?

I don't think a lot of women connect with Melania. She lives in a different world with different rules. So does Donald.......If poverty causes people to act out in reprehensible ways, you should see what wealth and beauty cause people to do.

The only one I feel bad for in this entire situation is Billy Bush. I think he was offered as a sacrificial lamb, by the network to show how serious the 'talk' was. Honestly Billy was doing what is expected of almost any host. When you have a celebrity coming in and he starts telling you a story that he think is funny or interesting you smile and nod. When he gives you the look like you are supposed to be impressed or laugh you act accordingly. Because you want the celebrity to have a pleasant experience so that he will want to come back if asked.

Yes this applies even to situations when the celebrity says something as indecent as what Trump did. Unless they are confessing to a serious crime or talking about how they are going to commit one, you are supposed to just smile, nod and play along.

I haven't seen the Giuliani quote you chose not to link. Whatever Guilani said, however, cannot change what Trump said into a "confession." And note I said Trump was bragging about what stars are "allowed" by women to do. What is inconclusive and takes the statement out of the category of "confession" is whether Trump was describing himself as one of those "stars" or whether he was bragging to the crew about his access to those "stars" who had.

Whether Trump considered himself on[e] of those "stars" (not just a celebrity) in 2005 (three years before "The Apprentice") and the "whatever" is "allowed" applied to him, or whether Trump was bragging about his access to "stars" and their behavior, is inconclusive.

Trump: "You know, I’m automatically attracted to beautiful — I just start kissing them. It’s like a magnet. Just kiss. I don’t even wait. And when you’re a star, they let you do it. You can do anything."

Bush: Whatever you want.

Trump: Grab ’em by the pussy. You can do anything.

Melania thinks that accusations against Trump should be handled in the courts - but she doesn't consider the good men and woman that Donald has ruined in this campaign with his lying mouth. So maybe people who live in luxurious glass towers shouldn't throw stones. Glory is coming!

Yeah, Trump was just forced into it by that conniving Billy Bush! This is as weak as Hillary blaming a "vast right wing conspiracy" for her own husband's misdeeds. Team Trump is successful at one thing--undermining their own best critiques of Hillary.

So we're to believe a 59 year old man who gets manipulated by Billy Bush, a softball infotainment reporter, is just what we need to stand up to the Putins of the world?

Team Trump really has to stop trying to spin this--they keep making it worse. Maybe a couple weeks of media blackout would be better than this.
