Probably not, however Pence was ready to deal with the sort of tactics that Joe Biden sprang on Paul Ryan.

He'd be the same old face. Trump has a myriad of faults, but that isn't one of them.

I'm with Meade -- that ticket has legs. Hopefully not in shorts.

Pence/Walker 2020 if Trump decides not to run for second term.

Despite what people say, you can get away with being a jerk. Even as a politician. Trump gets a lot of support because some people like that he is willing to be a jerk.

What you can't get away with is being a whiny jerk. Kaine's problem is that he came off whiny and insufferable.

I don't recognize either of those two guys in the photo but they both look admirably healthy.

I don't think anyone thought Kaine would be THAT big a jerk.

IMO Kaine surprised us because he is supposedly a man of Christian faith, but then he despises us for falling for his smirking shtick while he accuses that we are all deplorables in an irredeemable basket.

I suspect what we are seeing is that the Jesuit Marxists are no more men of Christian faith than Comrade Lenin was a man of Christian faith.

Not that there is anything wrong with World Marxism disguised as Christian faith.

Walker would have to be a great actor.

Tim Kaine reflected on the “feisty” debate he had with Mike Pence last night. He credited Pence as a “pretty good debater” but said that he[Pence] “wanted to lay some gloves on Hillary Clinton and didn’t get to do anything.”

Basically Kaine wanted to make sure that there were things the American People did not hear. Mission accomplished Timmy!

tim in vermont said...

Hillary's people are terrified of certain true facts being brought to the attention of the American people in a way that cannot be easily dismissed.

Walker will be done in WI in 2018. The shit is beginning to hit the fan (zoo interchange delayed, again) and the budget still is a huge problem.

Whether Walker runs again is the question. Bet he will be primaried.

Walker was our first choice. I retired over a year ago, tried to sign onto the Walker campaign as a volunteer - we were willing to travel and pay our own bills. unfortunately, his consultants only wanted cash and our only contact was the fundraising phone calls and emails. It's probably good (for him) that he got out when he did.

Two white guy politicians in 2020?? no longer doable.

But Walker in the #1 position in 2020? I'll sign on again - I don't think Trump (even if he should pull of a miracle this year) will run again.

Given that Pence didn't really have an answer for any of the Kaine attacks on past Trump broadcasted statements, I'm guessing Walker played him rather differently. And Pence largely responded to the Walker from prep rather than the Kaine in the room.

@PB, I live in Virginia and know about our senators. I, for one, was not at all surprised.

Trump picked Pence and he was right.

The main-slime-media have thrown aside all pretense of objectivity. Trump has forced this exposure and had to face it first in all its ugliness. It's the same in the universities where conservatives have to keep their orientation a secret when in certain departments - those connected with the formerly-liberal arts especially.

But this thought control isn't because things are working and the blue-state model is just too popular to be opposed. It's because the blue-state model is breaking down. Don't mention the bodies in the streets - some asleep, some dead, don't ask. Heckuva job, Barry.

If we are talking about this ticket in 2020 this ticket would lose 40 states. If trump loses this election there is no Republican Party. If Hillary wins there is no republic.

Hey I worked Rodriguez Island 3B9FR on 40m with 5 watts power. Where's that, you might ask. On the far side of Madagascar. Exactly 10,000 miles away, to within 10 miles.

I wonder what continent it counts as. I still need Asia and Antarctica.

If Walker/Pence can win, I'm all in. We need leaders who will crush bureaucrat/crony-cap special interests, and it doesn't get more 'special' than public employee unions.

It's cool to see that Walker's trying to pump himself up.

Also, it's fun to see that Meadehouse is on board.

You'd think that jabbering about Scott Adams and confirmation bias would make you vigilantly suss out your own susceptibility. But, not so.

Sprezzatura said...

BTW, isn't calling someone a "jerk" lame?

Do old people really talk like that?

Heard at chez Madhouse:

M: Golly that feller was not neato.

A: That square is a jerk, daddyo.

M: Can you pass the kale?

In the current Kelly-Hannity Twitter war, I think Hannity is the jerk.

On the merits, Kelly has only noted what is undeniable. But, Hannity can't be taken seriously since he's been in the tank for DJT--even showing up in a DJT spot.

Additionally, Kelly is pretty hot. I know she's really made up for the tube (e.g. when she interviewed the Duggars the primping crew must have been unavailable, and it showed), but she's getting up there, so not too bad.

Sprezzatura said...

At the debate on Sunday is DJT going to keep copying Baldwin's version of him?

On Saturday Baldwin played DJT supposedly (but not really) correcting the pronunciation of "China." A few days later (today) the real DJT makes a fuss about the correct pronunciation of "Nevada," but he's saying it incorrectly.

Fun times.

If Walker did run in 2020, would he still be talking about that cheap sweater that he bought at Kohls for a few bucks, after all his coupons and saved up Kochs bucks?

Also, when giving speeches, will he still be saying that if he's not elected ISIS will kill the folks he's addressing (incl viewers on C-span, incl me when I heard him) and their families?

Speaking of jerks, Trump pissed off a bunch of Nevadan's by telling them they don't know how to pronounce it right.

He then goes on to pronounce it like a white man from Queens.

Alas, it is Spanish, so any Romance language will be the correct way. The way Nevadan's pronounce it.

I think he's now insulting the Mexicans by telling them their Spanish pronunciation is wrong, and they need to start talking like New England white people.

IMHO, most of the con delicate snowflakes who were offended by Kaine at the debate are fussing because of their sincere team player, confirmation bias thing.

But, I'm only 92.3% sure that Althosue is equally earnest in her fussing.

Anywho, if not Althosue,, I'm sure there are some folks who understand that jabbering about jerks being awful is playing into HRC's plan.

If he wins, I will be surprised if he wants a second term. This year is a poisoned chalice anyway. Romney was the last chance for a soft landing.

MikeK,

Have you had dough w/ Schiff in recent years? I know someone who's down several million w/ him. Fortunately for the person I know this is rounding error dough, but still.

Anywho, it was interesting to see that the video targeted con savior Laffer.

Btw, would you like to have world governments try to clamp down on all the derivative action that add up to the big number you noted? Presumably the only thing that would work would be some sort of global governing controls so the dough makers couldn't squirm to whatever national jurisdiction had loose rules. Are you for that?

Sprezzatura said...

should have said "....that add up to more than the big...."

Sprezzatura said...

BTW, where's the "civility BS" tag?

Sprezzatura said...

BTW, not only was DJT channeling Baldwin, when Baldwin mocked DJT's thinking that he's the pronunciation police, now I see that folks are pulling up an episode of Veep where the issue was the pronunciation of "Nevada."

I know that DJT's excuse for past lameness is that he was an entertainer. If you ask me that still sound like a solid excuse today. He is entertaining. Unserious as a POTUS candidate, but funny.

Good times.

Let 'em go wherever they want. Just don't cover their losses when the make the inevitable oversight regarding some salient condition which will unavoidably blow up their models. Oh yeah, and isolating our economy somewhat from the global economy so that we aren't as vulnerable, even if it means the wealthier among us will have fewer cheap toys.

Funny how the Democrats have become the party of the rich, fucking over small business at every turn, using funds from capital markets flooded with cash from quantitative easing to consolidate economic activity in the hands of the connected.

wildswan said...

Maybe one thing Trump should do in the next debate is answer every gotcha question by saying: The issue that question raises is immigration" or whatever. Explain once that quotes and situations are being cherry-picked and distorted and answering questions about them by explaining how the quotes are cherry-picked takes time and does not address the issues confronting the American people. Does it matter to the unemployed whether or not Trump called a fat Miss Universe "Miss Piggy?" Those who want to know should go to the Trump website. And then Trump talks about the issue. And do the issue instead of the gotcha every time thereafter. "The American people want to hear about the issues and this is what I am going to talk about." Russia, Gold to Iran, trade issues, immigration, debt - the Obama legacy, the fact that Hillary promises more of the same.

And if the moderators are biased (if!) then Trump appoints himself the Trump moderator and points out once how the Clinton moderators aren't doing followup questions for her and are interrupting him "And this, folks, is how the mainstream operates these days. Sad"

Oh well, exciting times.

No, he's more of the same shit we've been eating for years. A disaster on immigration. Why not just send your own kids and grand kids to Syria, or Somalia, or Brazil to live right now?

coupe says: "Speaking of jerks, Trump pissed off a bunch of Nevadan's by telling them they don't know how to pronounce it right.

Just to let anyone who might care about truth know, coupe has a poor understanding of Nevadans. We don't really care about out-of-staters mispronouncing Nevada - just bring money. coupe's belief that we are so backward that how our state name is pronounced by visitors is a big deal to us displays a bias on his part that does offend.

I was a crowd control volunteer at the rally yesterday where Trump attempted to be funny by telling a joke about the correct pronunciation of "Nevada". He either screwed it up (ever tell a joke on stage?) or the person who told him the joke screwed up. At any rate, the punch line involved one of Trump's friends being shot for mispronouncing "Nevada" while visiting Nevada. Trump mixed up the two pronunciations. I wondered how long it would be before Trump critics jumped on the error. To spin such a small error into anti-Mexican racism, as coupe does....

"...I think he's now insulting the Mexicans by telling them their Spanish pronunciation is wrong, and they need to start talking like New England white people."

In point of fact Trump gave a "shout out" to the latinos in attendance at the rally (most of whom raised their hands and voices in response) and thanked them for coming. Hmmmm, odd that coupe did not relay that information, it being directly on point to coupe's remark and all...

Yes, I am attempting to make a point about truth and Trump.

We also fuck up Lye-ma (Lima) and Bell-Fountain (Bellefontaine).

I'm surprised Rome, Ohio is pronounced Roam.
