Are you expecting Trump to go big and wild or to play it straight and "normal"?

Watch the debate with me.

Depends on the definition of "big and wild". Besides his normal isn't my normal.

Original Mike said...

Thank God there's a Packer game.

mockturtle said...

Big. Wild. Assertive.

PBandJ_Ombudsman said...

Ha, he's already gone wild.

He could be comatose and still only work up to insane from the point he's starting at.

Ann Althouse said...

I'm just picturing him maybe deciding he's got nothing to lose and going very big and very wild.

Ann Althouse said...

I also have this fantasy of him withdrawing during the debate, but I don't believe that will happen. I think Trump will be Trump. Irrepressible.

DCPI said...

He has to look calm and rational and not come across as mysoginistic. Don't know how he does it of ir he can. But he will try, at least for a while.

PBandJ_Ombudsman said...

For the first debate the DJT folks made a lot of strong pre-debate tough talk, then he didn't go there in the debate.

I think it's possible that the same thing is the plan this time. But, w/ a bigger jump for the pre-debate toughness.

Maybe I'm giving him too much credit.

Rhythm and Balls said...

It doesn't matter. The public are too stupid to decide this thing on the basis of anything other than pop culture. It's basically Mad Men vs. Sex and the City and the moral superiority award is being given to Sex and the City.

Nukes, Putin, Syria, 40 years of declining living standards, gutted manufacturing, Wall Street favors. None of it. NONE OF IT matters.

America has made up its mind. The office ladies mistreated by their bosses in the 1960s will be avenged. Unfinished business to settle, apparently. The way the world and America hang in the balance right now can be put on hold, apparently.

PBandJ_Ombudsman said...

One thing is for sure, DJT will be bragging about the ratings tomorrow.

mockturtle said...

I also have this fantasy of him withdrawing during the debate

Why in the fuck should he???

The Post says he is appearing with Clinton accusers, so yeah - wild. American politics is a train wreck.

First the Republican party next the Democratic.

Everyone's brains are so addled and addicted to entertainment, that lacking structure after both are pulled down, we don't have the fortitude or discipline to do much of anything.

Rhythm and Balls said...

I can't believe I'll be watching this. It's like Genghis Khan vs. Attila the Hun. There is no rooting. I hope they both kill each other.

EDH said...

I expect him to pick his moments, if he's smart.

Apologize for his words when questioned, pivot for the jugular on Hillary's war on women hypocrisy, and then move on to attack her on policy and ethical substance.

So am I. Here is to hoping he comes calling Hillary a grifter, criminal and traitor aided and abetted and enabled by Obama. Then he should remind everyone who is fake outraged by his Access Hollywood tape if you voted for Bill Clinton you're a hypocrite. If you believe Bill Clinton should not have been impeached you're a hypocrite. If you support the specialist in Bimbo eruptions and rape enabler you're a hypocrite.

PBandJ_Ombudsman said...

mock,

That's her thing. She speculates about pols withdrawing.

Why?

It's a mystery.

Theranter said...

Trying to find a channel that has closed captioning so I can mute it when the bitch is spewing her BS.

PBandJ_Ombudsman said...

"I need a drink."

At least this time you don't need to do this by referring to an Althouse drinking game that has more bullet points than DJT's entire plan for governing.

AprilApple said...

I think the dems would panic if he dropped out. Really really panic. I'd love to see it.

HT said...

"Then he should remind everyone who is fake outraged by his Access Hollywood tape if you voted for Bill Clinton you're a hypocrite. "

And I would agree with him. Meanwhile, we have a world to get back to and real issues to deal with. Will we? Ever?

Can someone please explain to me the "drop out" thing? Drop out and replace him with whom? You can't do that at this point. Too late. Campaignus interruptus leads to aborted conception, not surrogate paternity by a replacement dude.

I see Trump just letting it all go. As he likes to tell others: "What have you got to lose?" He's got nothing to lose. This race is done unless he starts by taking off his clothes and going full crazy. Looking forward to seeing the carnage.

Rhythm and Balls said...

I'm sorry, but he needs a miracle to change the dynamic at this point.

Whoever held out on this 2005 tape this long, deserves a medal for stamina. That's got to have been the most strategically released bombshell in presidential politics ever.

Theranter said...

She didn't even address the question.

PBandJ_Ombudsman said...

DJT is low energy.

Temujin said...

He does a phenomenal Alec Baldwin.

Theranter said...

Don't think he's going to either.

Rhythm and Balls said...

I have a feeling the lack of handshake this time had to do with her personal offense taken at his being accompanied by Bill Clinton's rape/groping victims. She really takes that shit personally.

How dare they have a champion, she thinks.

PBandJ_Ombudsman said...

DJT is sniffling again.

Theranter said...

What a setup!

PBandJ_Ombudsman said...

Yes, it was macho one upmanship that got crude, this is tougher for him because he doesn't have any other dudes to put down (except Bill Clinton). Today I entertained a thought that the only reason he's interested in the White House is to beat Bill Clinton (back) there.
