"Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz will not speak at or preside over the party's convention this week..."

"... a decision reached by party officials Saturday after emails surfaced that raised questions about the committee's impartiality during the Democratic primary."

Breaking news email from CNN.

LATER: "Debbie Wasserman Schultz is stepping down as chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee at the end of the party's convention, which is set to begin here Monday."

More breaking news.

I for one will miss Crazy Debbie. She was growing comfortable like an old shoe. I saw her as a female version of the Three Stooges, always clowning the same dumb act as if her saying things for Hillary made them so. The girl had guts.

But Hillary throws her stooges in the trash can after she gets through with them. In contrast to overly loyal Donald, Hillary can be spotted as the person having Absolute Zero faith fullness and loyalty to people who serve her. Ask the Secret Service guy.

I'd be happier if it were the Russians. It certainly could be the US security agencies, but if so its unofficial. Better the Russians. They are more professional, thorough, and very good at follow-through.

And now, we're supposed to believe that all this mischief at the DNC was all about DWS on a rampage. Out of Control. HRC sez: "Oh, Lordy, we tried to make her fly right & stay on the straight & narrow, but it was all for naught. That girl was just wicked".

Sure. I believe that. Why not?

Have I ever shown you my deed for the Brooklyn bridge?

I wonder how she ever got the job. She always looked so WEIRD and never seemed very intelligent or persuasive.

Of course, maybe her REAL job was to raise money from people who looked and thought just like her.

"Believe it or don't believe it, but the evidence is there."

Oh, you mean this evidence?

On Friday, Wikileaks published 20,000 emails stolen from the Democratic National Committee. They reveal, among other things, thuggish infighting, a push by a top DNC official to use Bernie Sanders’ religious convictions against him in the South, and attempts to strong-arm media outlets. In other words, they reveal the Washington campaign monster for what it is.

Funny how you elided that part out.

Hill doesn't want to lose the vagenda vote nor seem anti Semitic--she just named DWS the "Honorary Chair" of the convention.

The Russians seem to be able to get everything. Ok, the DNC was a nothing in the hacking difficulty setting, but still, it is US security thats a sieve. And getting into State Dept comms, and who knows what else (what, Clinton had the only private email system in DC?) means that they have an excellent idea of US decision making processes, maybe even in real time.
What happens when they decide to walk into Latvia Lithuania and Estonia? US leadership is in no way ready or capable to meet a real crisis.

I can't believe they haven't yet. Not all three, and not all of any; just some heavily Russian-populated area of one of them, no doubt after a terrible provocation. I can't imagine why Putin is holding back.

Well, I can imagine a few reasons but I don't find them convincing, nor reassuring.

Oops, not of the convention, of her campaign. Via Wash Exam:
"Presumptive Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton scooped up outgoing Democratic National Committee Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz Sunday afternoon as the honorary chair of her campaign's 50-state program.

In a sort of thank you letter, Clinton said the Miami congresswoman will serve as a surrogate for her national campaign, helping the team in Florida and other key states.

"I look forward to campaigning with Debbie in Florida and helping her in her re-election bid — because as president, I will need fighters like Debbie in Congress who are ready on day one to get to work for the American people," Clinton wrote...."

At one level, this is about the DNC and DWS. But what must be remembered is that she was a Clintonite from the beginning. She was the one pushing the scales in Crooked Hillary's direction. And is being hung out to dry on the eve of Crooked Hillary's coronation. Timing probably couldn't be worse. And what does this say about Clinton's loyalty to her other minions?

Bruce Hayden said...

Ok - Crooked Hillary is going through the pro forma loyalty thing. HRC is apparently going to campaign with DWS.

Why at the end, if she's not going to preside and not going to speak? Seems to me that it would have been better for her party if she was gone and an acting or pro tem chairman could take the reins.

"Re: [OS] US/CT/CALENDAR- Teabagger protest at Harry Reid's house 3/27

Here are my thoughts on this, and I'm putting this on analyst list because
it has to do with Obama's political bandwidth.

A lot of people are assuming that Obama is done in the midterm and that he
will eventually be a one term President. I think three things are
beginning to coalesce that make this far from a foregone conclusion:

1. Health care reform passed.

George is not the only person who is glad it passed so that we don't have
to listen to it anymore.

The fact that a bunch of Republican states are
contesting it is just going to drag it out longer and piss independents
more.

Plus, can you see the adds that Rahm Emmanuel is going to put out on
this topic? I can already see an African American woman with sickle cell
disease, a Mexican American man with diabetes and a blond, blue-eyed
Iraq-Afghanistan war veteran with 13 kids and multiple purple hearts who
has brain tumor all saying in the add, "Why are Republicans trying to kick
me off of healthcare? Give it a chance... give me a chance" Not only will
those campaigns mobilize the minority vote again, they will get the
conservative independents to despise Republican efforts to kill health
reform. Republicans made a big mistake by letting this thing pass. Now
they are making a huge mistake by opposing it in court. It's perfect
fodder for attack adds. Not to mention that the guys doing it are a bunch
of loaded white guys. Game set and match Axelrod and Emmanuel.

"...3. Tea Baggers will screw it up

In the midterm elections nobody in their right mind who has anything smart
or decent to do votes in primaries. This is certain to put a bunch of tea
bagger sympathetic Republican candidates for Congress and Senate because
only the extremists will care enough to go and vote in primaries.

The problem is that come November Tea Party is going to be seen as extremist.
This is why all this "violence" (I put it in quotes because it is a
joke... a brick through a window is not political violence) is so damaging
to the entire Republican partyt.

Americans abhor political violence.
Remember that Howard Dean lost the chance to be a Presidential candidate
because he raised his voice. Come November, you'll have a bunch of Teabag
sympathetic Republican candidates running for Congress who will have been
elected by Tea Party activists in primaries. By November, the mainstream
media (which has already started obsessing with supposed "political
violence") will have made the Tea Party guys look like the Red Brigades.
This will mean a lot less wins than Republicans than expected.

Not that this makes Obama safe in 2012, but it certainly makes him less of
a "certain one term President".

One more thing. America loves "winners". You can be a porn-star banging
golfer, gambling basketball player who gets his father killed because of
debts or a rapist boxer who eats human ears. Bottom line is that if you
can deliver wins, people will be fascinated by you and give you respect.
This is why it was so central to the Republicans to defeat Obama on
healthcare, not because of its contents but because of its symbolic
meaning.

It would not be a bad idea to watch this over the weekend. We've seen
attacks on multiple democratic offices as well as an attempt to cut the
gas lines of a congressmen's house (though they fucked and did it to his
brother's). If this turns more violent, this protest on Saturday will be
a good place to do it.

How Putin weaponized Wikileaks to influence the election of an American President.

Close your eyes and imagine that a hacking group backed by Russian President Vladimir Putin broke into the email system of a major U.S. political party. The group stole thousands of sensitive messages and then published them through an obliging third party in a way that was strategically timed to influence the United States presidential election. Now open your eyes because that’s what just happened.

Fox News reports that Donna Brazile, also a vice chair, will succeed Wasserman Schultz as DNC chair, at least on an interim basis.

The bad news for Donald Trump is that, unlike Wasserman-Schultz, Donna Brazile is very competent.

The good news for the GOP is that Ms. Brazile seems to be equally illiterate with respect to 21st century technology.

I'm just shocked she lasted this long. When's the last time a party chair lasted more than five years? Traditionally they go four years at most. And DWS in particular has been terrible at her job, presiding over pretty deep losses for the party. The only explanation for this is Team Clinton wanted a complete lackey at the job, competence be damned.

Brando said...

Plus, think of the missed opportunity for Clinton. Had she forced DWS out a few weeks ago as a concession to Sanders, she would have bought some party unity going into the convention. Instead, she let DWS stick around in her sheer incompetence, and now had her resign in disgrace, getting nothing for it.

MayBee said...

Brando- a Politico story today says Obama people told Obama to oust DWS, but he didn't feel like dealing with it . Which actually sounds just like his foreign policy.

And you are right, Hillary getting her to step aside a few weeks ago would have been a big PR win. Funny how they didn't think of that.

damikesc said...

I wonder how peaceful Philly's going to be now? I'm sure there will be a calm, measured response from the Bernie Bros.

There is zero chance Bernie does anything. He always there to only provide the "proof" that this was a competition and not a coronation. His supporters are invested in this infinitely more than he is.

Brando said...

"Brando- a Politico story today says Obama people told Obama to oust DWS, but he didn't feel like dealing with it . Which actually sounds just like his foreign policy."

Crazy if true--why not install someone loyal to you rather than the Clintons?

Another thing--contrast her with Reince Preibus, who most likely was not a Trump fan but far as I can tell did nothing to sabotage Trump's efforts in the primary. DWS of course could not remain impartial, and on top of that had a conflict of interest with her job as congresswoman (which could clash with her DNC role--plus, aren't both supposed to be full time jobs?). I know it's not unprecedented--e.g., Bob Dole was a Senator while RNC chair--but that seems a problem.

damikesc said...

Add into that they kept her as the party has historic blowouts in Congressional elections, a virtual coattails-less Presidency win in 2012, and another Congressional blowout in 2014. Plus the loss of so many state houses and governorships.

You cannot point to competency in her performance.

Peter said...

But perhaps the question is, cui bono? Why would anyone believe Putin would rather negotiate with Trump than with Hillary?

Hasn't Hillary already shown her willingness to sell out U.S. interests for personal gain, and where's the evidence Trump would do so as well?
