The mood for next fall — maybe it will help you predict the outcome of the election.

From the Gucci Fall 2016 menswear collection, as presented by the much-admired Tom & Lorenzo:

Oh God, put him out of our misery. At least I think it might be a him, but could be a her, or him/her.

Is that the mascot they have running around Davos during conferences?

Men's wear?

Even the guys on "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" wouldn't wear some so ridiculous.

Tom and Lorenzo? NOPE! Tom and Jerry perhaps

They must be aiming for the pajama-boy-onesie demographic.

The estate of Charles Schultz is hard up for cash, evidently.

Quaestor said...

Oops. Misspelled his name. It was Schulz.

That person is also getting paid to walk in that clothing.

Probably not getting paid enough by his expression.

Achilles said...

Sorry, I said "his."

Should have said "it's."

Steve M. Galbraith said...

Under a Trump presidency this type of stuff simply won't be allowed.

Quaestor said...

I can't help but notice the zombie-like expression on the model's face...

It has always been Us vs. the Zombies, has it not?

coupe,
You are not confused. Ze is confused.

Ze's gloomy face predicts the Commie.
Ze's clothes predict the Donald.

Ze is as confused as the American voters.

They will look good in the unisex bathrooms.

He doesn't look very happy to be wearing that shit.

Projection.

Most Trump supporters just want to be left alone. It is the progs that are acting like brown shirts.

Quaestor said...

I once got to ride in a Gucci saddle. Always appealing to their pushy nouveau customer base Gucci had their forest green and red colors prominently visible on the stirrup-leather keepers. Hard as a plank and as slippery as freshly waxed linoleum. A $5000 POS.

Not likely to be seen in Burns, Oregon.

Projection? I'm a "prog" because...never mind.

It's called a joke.

So, pop culture chic? Snoopy shirt, Waldo hand wraps, Minecraft jacket and pants, perhaps?

Deirdre Mundy said...

Hey kids! Time to play "Where's Pajama boy?"

We've lost a sense of what 'manly' is, which is why people think Trump is 'manly.' (He's not-- he's a perpetual boy.....)

Static Ping said...

Are we sure this isn't from the M.C. Escher collection? I think the shot needs to be zoomed out to see if Joey Sandals is violating gravity.

Shaking my head at the shoes. No man would wear shoes like that, unless they were on sale for $2.99 at TJ Maxx.

Man that made me laugh. The plaid coat with orange hat one might work in Canada for one the MacKenzie brothers.

These might work for an eight year old. Pre-teen.

Might.

The gay male fashion designers used to have a style, class.

See, we let them get married and they just lose it.

K, I am super stumped here. Were all of those guys?

This is what men get for allowing effeminate homosexuals to create our clothes. We'll all be walking around in tutus and high heels, because fashion....

Todd said...

I initially only looked at the photos and did not notice that this was supposed to be a show on men's fashion. Holly cow! Talk about a designer with serious gender issues! What is up with those patterns, hand-warmer gloves/shirts, and the footwear! Looks like a cross-dresser's costume wardrobe exploded all over someone. Except for the snoopy shirt, I did not see a thing worth wearing...

Under the circumstances that may be the best outcome.
Biological unfitness has many signals, this is doubtless one of them.
Definitely not breeding stock, a dead end who apparently knows it.

We live in a cartoon world right now. I think it's appropriate.

On a larger matter, I'm convinced that Fashion, the larger concept, is pernicious and detrimental to survival. Fashion seems to be the result of basic human group formation instincts, essential for survival in previous primitive contexts. In civilized contexts it can hamper survival.

One thing in Cavalli-Sforzas old "History and Geography of Human Genes" that jumped out at me was where he laid out his procedures, in that he called cities, urban environments "population sinks" - where surplus rural populations go to die, in time, as historically they were below-replacement. In the past this was doubtless heavily skewed by disease risks due to poor sanitation, but it has not improved in modern times and I suspect that an important, or more important factor is that too many people together gets them to adopt maladaptive behaviors, as otherwise useful instincts fail in an environment for which they were not evolved.

buwaya said...

Titus and friends - and probably those poor fools in the fashion show, models, designers and spectators - are victims of their environment in other words.
I am not joking here, this outcome is tragic, and the fact that there are so many Tituses is disastrous. Its a tremendous loss of talent.

You heteronormative types are guilty of some serious micro aggressions here.

Repent!

Diversity and Tolerance seminars required.

Voting for Bernie Sanders required.

He will force the designer to sell that outfit at prices all can afford or simply subsidize it.

It is a brave, new world.

Nuke it from orbit. Its the only way to make sure.

I think this was the result of a challenge..locked in a bathroom with a full hamper and a pair of scissors. Go!

I just showed the whole Tom and Lorenzo photo spread to my Spouse. he said, "I'm not convinced that's real. It could be just a publicity stunt for Zoolander 2. How could it be real?!?"

David said...

I watched some of that show on Sartorialist. What a bunch of sad sacks. They look like they hate what they are doing. perhaps they hate doing anything. How can you expect to sell anything with these morose models?

David said...

Titus said...

Titus, they would send it all to Africa and distribute it to the poor, but the poor of Africa have too much taste and style to wear this crap. Plus they are happier than these morose boys seem to be.

PB said...

I fear for our country.

walter said...

I don't suspect these examples are anything more than designers desperate to get noticed. Kind of like concept cars.

William said...

It takes a certain amount of panache and self confidence to pull that look off. Sanders is just too old to even attempt it, but it might work with Obama. He should try wearing an outfit like that the next time he honors Bergdahl with a Rose Garden ceremony. It would add to the gravity of the occasion. Brooks would probably commend him for his zest and youthful spirit.

You got your mother in a whirl
She don't know if you're a boy or a girl.

I dont know if that model is a male or a female. And I dont know anyone who would wear those clothes on the street. Not a boy OR a girl.

jr565 said...

That model is a Bernie sanders voter.

jr565 said...

"Under a Trump presidency this type of stuff simply won't be allowed."

I propose a new show. Straight Eyes for the queer guy. Sure, straight guys not in touch with their metrosexual side sometimes need a "queer guy" to teach him a little fashion sense.
But it's quite clear that sometimes gays Go so far off the gay cliff, that a straight guy needs to come along and tell them they look ridiculous. This is one of those times.

If the Pajama boys in these pics reflect the outcome of the next election, the Republicans will win in a landslide. I'm used to the heroin chic look. These guys look like they are walking to the execution chamber.
