"I said something that sounded like I was questioning his faith. I really wasn’t, I was really talking more about mine."

"But it was said in an inappropriate way, which I recognized and I apologized for that. It’s never my intention to impugn other people."

Ben Carson apologizes to Donald Trump. Quite appropriately, in my view, which I expressed 4 days ago here — including a lot of participation in the comments, where I was accused of being "hostile" to Ben Carson.

Trouble is Doctor Carson did deliberately question Trumph's faith. He did it surgically. He did it efficiently in his oh so humble bedside manner that a pretend saint uses to impress the rubes.

So that makes him a liar which is his religious spirit in action.

But you have been hostile to Ben Carson in the past as anyone who clicks on your tag or can remember can verify. The sticking point is gay marriage. For example, in this post, you listed your two biggest gripes with him. I thought the second one was particularly silly: you cast aspersions on his abilities as a speechwriter.

Aside: I suppose that in the Althouse mind, the hostility towards Carson is rooted in the juxtaposition of his being both black and against SSM. That can't coexist in her head because she believes that blacks and gays share a common persecution. Some of Althouse's favorite intellectuals used similarities between gay marriage and anti-miscegenation laws to bolster legal arguments for SSM.

Carson learned a lesson that most believers learn early in life in the school of secular hard knocks. Americans respect faith but refuse to be ruled by a Religious Ruler or an imitation thereof.. Separation of Church and State is not optional in a culture created by Protestants.

Wonder if Trump will accept -- or for that matter even acknowledge -- this apology.

Does trump raelly have faith? Bernie Sanders may only know a few bible verses, but at least he can articulate them. Trump likes them all equally.

Wouldn't it be cool if we had some victorious general to be president?

But we don't do victory anymore, do we?

So we get neurosurgeons, builders, and lawyers. I guess it's all the same.

Oh, and baseball team owners. Although he did win that last war... until... something happened. What was it again? Oh yeah. Hope and change! Yeah, That was it.

Don't be accusing Althouse of closeted racism. She voted for Obama expressly to have a token to ward off such a charge. And some of her best friends are black.

Tempest in a teapot. Althouse becomes facilitator of Main Stream Media inflammatory scandal-mongering.

Carson shows a lot of class.

carson strikes me as being somewhat of an idiot savant. on the one hand, he's a brilliant neurosurgeon (or so we are constantly told) while on the other, he says some pretty off-the-wall stuff when speaking on just about any other subject...albeit in his languid, sleep-inducing, chauncey gardener drone.
