"Well, it's a little private, but she's doin' somethin' for her dad..."

"... right? Got it."

Michelle handled that well.

It was a cuter story until I realized the mom was an executive branch employee. Then it got kinda embarrassing.

Charlotte's father, Ben Bell, has been looking for a policy job for more than two years and recently has been trying to get a job with the Obama administration. He worked on the Obama campaign in 2012.

The policies we have aren't working. We need more policy!! Hire more policists!!

All kidding aside, it looks like Michelle was blind-sided. I wonder if someone isn't fired over this.

Apparently, it really is all about Michelle.

Nicely handled by Mrs. Obama. Very rude move on the child's part. If I were her parent, I would be very embarrassed.

I don't know about the kid or the father, but Mrs. Obama always comes across as totally self absorbed to me. Yes, what a horrible imposition it is to be the wife of the president.

Let's see how this plays out in the MSM. If it was Laura Bush, it would be evidence of her husband's jobless recovery. So will that be the story here? Or will it be something else? I feel confident that it won't be the former.

The child was not rude. The child loves her father. Doesn't understand why he has no job. And doesn't understand that the FLOTUS is too important to be petitioned for redress. Even Caesar was expected to accept the people's petitions.

I wonder how she got her dad's resume if he didn't know she was going to say something.

Of course, President Reagan was the target of major snarking for his "grandstanding" - one wonders if the First Lady will be similarly targeted if anything positive comes of this...

Call me when he gets a private sector job. Until then ZZZZZZZZ

Kelly said...

That was not appropriate. I'm pretty sure he won't get a job any where in Washington now.

This admonistration believes the private sector is doing fine, but we need to hire more people for government positions, and yes, they will find something for them to do.

I agree with Helenhightops.

Great. Use another child to make some political or personal points. (I'm referring to the Mom, not Michelle.)

If Dad worked in the Obama campaign and can't find some policy job in Washington, he really does need help. Maybe just not the kind he is seeking.

Michelle handled that very nicely, I think.

Political grandstanding works in all directions.

With politics infiltrating everybody's lives, including those who haven't been born, and well beyond ones death, it isn't surprising this is going to happen.

What, you don't want kids to be involved in politics?!

Apparently the little tyke's dad was not qualified for one of the millions of shovel ready jobs the O adminstration saved *gag* or created.

1. surprise? in the video I saw, the kid is sitting alone, right in front of Moochelle.

2. The real embarrassment is to be a an unemployed husband, with a wife and kids. 2-3 years? Get an f'ing job at Walmart for God's sake. Act like a man instead of having your young girl pimp your resume. And yes, she could not get the resume without her parents knowing about it.

I agree with those above who like the way Michelle handled this. I assume it was not scripted, and she made a graceful disposition of a difficult situation.

She can be quite charming when she tries.

Couldn't she explain to the child that the Zero is trying as hard as he can to legalize millions of illegal aliens so that they can more effectively compete with her father and others like him for the jobs that are available?

Good for (Michelle) Obama.

I don't have any problem with her complaining about the cage-like nature of being the First Lady.

I don't believe for one second that any of this was spontaneous, or unplanned. Fake, fake, fake.

Of course, if the man does end up getting a job in government, the people "doing something nice for her Dad", are the private sector taxpayers who make government jobs possible.

But I bet they were MILES from FLOTUS mind. And the little girls. And her Dads.

I do. It's only eight years and it's at great taxpayer expense- and it comes with a luxury lifestyle.
Deal with it like a champ.

There will be hell to pay for this - the First Lady does not like it when monkey wrenches get thrown into her tight schedule.

Michelle (who is often whiny about the terrible burden of being the President's wife, along with calling herself the "Mom-in-Chief" and similar pretentious, presumptuous nonsense) handled it fine. Graceful, hinting to the girl that this sort of thing shouldn't be so public, but with no scolding or nastiness.

The kid also did not do anything bad. (The rudeness of it is not going to be apparent to a ten-year-old.) And yes, most ten-year-olds know how to print from the family computer, and can manage to find the file named "John's Resume.docx".

There's no particular reason to think her parents put her up to it - and I doubt seriously that they did, because this would rebound on the mother, who works for the executive branch. It wouldn't be a smart move.
