"The heckler wrote: 'After years of these lonely, isolating and dehumanizing experiences...'"

"'... I’ve only recently been able to find the strength to advocate for myself and millions of others.'"
So basically she waited until laws were changed, the political battles were fought, and even TV commercials and marketing ads contain openly gay themes in people presented as normal Americans. Then, when gay marriage and family life is normalizing legally and socially, she comes out of the closet as an aggressive, rude activist.

Sounds like she waited until it was safe, and now she is jumping on the wagon after it's left the barn, trying to be loud and attract attention to her false pretense of bravery.
Top-rated comment on the WaPo column "Why I confronted the first lady."

Most "brave" things "activists" do really aren't brave at all.

Confronting the thugs in charge of this country now really is brave.

Or stupid.

Also sounds like Moochelle and the way she throws attitude around.

PS I note she's "a retired public servant". Presumably, she's dealt with Moochelles all her working life.

And I love that line, "Some have said that the first lady wasn’t a proper target because she is not an elected official. However, time and again, the first lady has come to our community and asked us to “max out” on our contributions to the DNC."

Hey, bitch, you take my money, you fucking LISTEN TO ME.

Love me some of that blue on blue action.

Activists get more shrill as the complaints get more petty. Activism isn't about the cause, it's about the mindset.

tim maguire ...to paraphrase your comment, I'd add to it the following:

"Issue" Activists get more shrill as the complaints get resolved. "Issue" Activism isn't about the cause, it's about the publicity, power, and frequently the money [writes book, etc.].

I know who will be at my funeral.
She is in a panic that no one will mourn her passing.

It'll never stop.

They will go after every florist and cake maker, every printer and newspaper, and then every church. They will demand their views be taught in school.

It's already happening.

Interesting that this brave activist doesn't criticize those who -- by her own account -- told her it was disrespectful for a white female to speak out against a black female.

So that prejudice, apparently, is OK with her. She acknowledges the criticism but doesn't resist it -- doesn't have the spine to stand up for the idea that white women have as much right to speak as black women.

Why is it that identity activists never hesitate to reinforce prejudices that posit their own moral superiority (even when, as in this case, the position they assume is prone before the superior black female)?

They're not advocating for real equality but an ever-more baroque thicket of special privileges.

And even when we concur, it isn't enough. When asked where I stood on gay rights, I answered 'Gay rights end, when children rights begin.' 'Children have a right to know and have a relationship with their mother and father.'

The person, who wasn't even gay, didn't like the answer and demanded the two women or two men was no different, and went on about abuse.

So now I have to say, 'Absent abuse and neglect, children have a right to a relationship with their mom and dad. Public policy should address preventable factors that lead to abuse and neglect for parents.'

10-15 years ago, it didn't feel this way, even with people I knew who were gay. They were so normal, they just didn't care for the opposite sex, that's all. They were not hostile to heterosexuality.

Doesn't the description in that comment aptly apply as well to Obama himself?

The individuals are normal. Their behavior is dysfunctional. Homosexual behavior has no redeeming value to society or humanity. It is strictly a product of selfish fulfillment. It can be tolerated until it reaches some critical mass in a population.

Why would anyone attempt to normalize a behavior which is antithetical to evolutionary fitness?

Same-sex love/companionship has redeeming value.

Hard to make a distinction with vague terms.

Is it marriage? No.

Pogo is exactly right.

The gay activists will demand that churches, temples and mosques perform "same sex marriage" ceremonies in contradiction of their teachings.....or they will extract a penalty.

Similarly every catering hall, florist and photographer will be fined or punished in some way if they turn away their business.

If you don't think that is what they are going to do then you are fooling yourself.

In that case I'll come out against it right now.

Last I checked heckling is speech... and speech is still free, for now.

I don't like all the comments - everywhere, not necessarily the ones here, criticizing the heckler.

That was the perfect time and place for that "outburst."

I wanted to thank the Man Of The Left, the community agitator and activist in chief, for bringing old crusty activist lesbians out, and PETA, and the green nutjobs, and Organizing for Action, and the Food Stamp brigade, and the union astroturfers.

Thanks Obama, these people need to be front and center.
