"'My remarks are not sitting here,' the President declared awkwardly."

"I’m uhhh….people….oh goodness….uhhhh...folks are sweating back there right now."

Oh, no. I hope he's not trying to make us feel sorry for him.

Here's how Drudge graphically depicts the story (using a photo from some other event (video of the actual event at the first link, complete with stumbling aide)):

He can't even say hello correctly. He opens this clip with the following:

"Good morning, everybody. It is wonder to see all of you..."

Was the correct salutation written on the paper he was missing and he couldn't even ad-lib that?

All I want to know is his LSAT score. You can keep all his other transcripts etc.

His stumbling wasn't as bad visuakky as I expected after reading your transcription of it though. He's got quite a good game face, which is unfortunately why so many have been snookered by him.

At least he's still clean, if not articulate.

The deeper message here is that the prez is ill-served by his staff.

They simply do not do a good job of keeping him in the loop. Mistakes are made. Not his fault.

I find it amusing that the left mock President Bush for being inarticulate when speaking.

When I was in 6th grade, I was a lector at Mass. That included reading The Prayers of the Faithful, 5 or six intentions offered at each Mass. The sheet on which they were written was not on the lectern. I had to make them up on the fly. With all due respect to the President, I believe I acquitted myself better than he.

Granted though, I had to do it only the one time, not many times per week, so you'd run out of stuff.

edutcher said...

I believe the proper response here is, "Welcome to the party, pal!".

Dang. Beat me to it, again.

Funny part is that Obama really thinks he is charming.

Once again proving that the President is not a good speaker, but he can read aloud really well.

Compare and contrast with Sarah Palin at the Republican Convention in 2008. Her teleprompters broke and she was still able to do her speech, and well.

Is that how you want to do it though? By making yourself look as ridiculous as the NORK leader with the bad haircut?

If anything it makes him look worse IMHO. Inarticulate, feckless and seemingly unable to control the reigns of the government he was elected to do.

"President Obama, who’s often mocked for an over-reliance on scripts, shifted uncomfortably smiling for several moments buying time. An aide sprinted out with a hard copy of the speech, tripping at one point, adding to the drama."

I didn't see any lack of comfort by O; but he was just being accurate in saying that his staff is 'sweating back there' because of the snafu. O is such a complete narcissist that he is incapable of being uncomfortable whenever he is the center of attention; and he is a sufficiently cold that his staff knows to be wary.

He was inarticulate in a personable way. No other President of recent memory has been able to combine incompetence and clumsiness in such a likeable way....I wonder if the allusion to the people who are really sweating back there is in some way a veiled threat. In another generation when people write their true memories of this administration I think we'll find a lot of things aren't what they seem. Think of JFK's vigor and happy marriage when you contemplate Obama's idealism and equable temperament.

Tarzan said...

That was...so...painful to behold.

I grin, though, to think of the creative ways a Reagan or even a Bush (either one) would have risen to an occasion where they were similarly unprepared.

Problem is, this isn't about Obama being unprepared, but rather about him clearly being unqualified.

There is NOTHING going on in the man's head beyond pat phrases like "Let me be clear" or "I've got a lot on my plate" and whatever happens to be on the teleprompter in front of him.

A fraud, top to bottom, from day one.

Obama has a lot on his plate....a lot of golf, a lot of vacations, a lot of "A" list parties at the White House.

And a lot of lies to keep straight.

The one thing that is a constant? Obama is never at fault. He is quickly going from incompetent to joke.

I realized yesterday my preference would be for an actual puppet. Not a sophisticated marionette like in Team USA but rather a crude hand puppet.

The operator can just stick the puppet's nose up to the right to the left to the right to the left right left right left.

That's what I want to see on FOX instead to assuage their Obama-fetish every 10 minutes with an entertaining puppet instead of an actual video of actual words that they're compelled to use to back up their points. So it's the same video over an dover an dover.

When it could be a happy amusing puppet show. This is what the president said, see the video if you wish, the puppet sssssspeaksssss like thisssssss. And has Marine puppets hold puppet umbrellas for him during a faint puppet drizzle. Spritz spritz. Wouldn't that be better?

I like the story of how a bunch of lefties were given a few paragraphs and told they were from Palin;'s book. After all the laughing and ridicule was done, they were told the paragraphs were from Obama's book.

Oops ! The story disappeared.

I really don't see anything there to criticize. He handled it fine, and I think with a nice bit of humor. But, If he was the smoothest at this stuff who ever lived, it wouldn't make me vote for him. It does it for a lot of people though.

A couple of possible explanations:

A Cartesian automaton: he looks us, talks like us, walks around like us, but "inside"—there's nothing there!

He's what vampires really look like: very pretty but utterly empty of all mental life: "I serve as a blank screen," Obama writes, "on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views."

Well William no other President of recent memory has had as big a load of "incompetence" as this President. So naturally he's got a lot to work with. He may charm you, but as for me--meh--he doesn't even meet the "Hillary Test". As in when he told Hillary, "You're likeable enough."

Not much charm there--and not much likeability either.

I think the bullshit started immediately.

“My remarks are not sitting here,...”

1. Obama FORGOT to bring his remarks when he walked out, so he instantly blamed 'people' on his staff for not having them already there.

2. If they were his remarks, he'd know what was written and he'd be able to at least make an opening statement while the papers were brought out. That he's clueless about what to say shows the remarks aren't his.

Those of us who saw through Obama from the beginning (which seems to be almost everybody here today except perhaps our genial hostess) take this little incident as further proof that we were right all along. But most Americans will never hear or see anything about this incident, and if they did, they'd just chuckle.

Focus on the IRS stuff. That's how you'll get the public starting to worry. Phone records? No big deal in themselves, but how do you know they aren't going use these things the way the IRS did, to go after regular folks like you? And subpoenas for reporters ... the public doesn't care, but the press does, and they might start doing their job.

Focus, Barack. Your "people" are letting you down.

This sort of reinforces my point from a bunch of weeks ago, that Obama has the worst staff of any recent president. And since that staff was either hired by him directly, or hired by someone he hired directly, the blame rests with him.

Jack Kennedy or Lyndon Johnson would have had him for lunch.
