"Should a five-year-old have a gun?/Why Ann doesn't like to take positions on policy questions/Gun deaths are declining, but what about spree killings?..."

"Chris Christie: Can a fat man win the presidency?/Howard Kurtz, Jason Collins, Tina Brown, and honesty/Benghazi: scandal or hype?" — those are the basic topics, as framed by the Bloggingheads enterprise, as I talk for 70+ minutes with Bob Wright.

Here's the whole thing:

I'll pull out some choice bits in a little while.

""Spree killings" are not increasing."

The deniability is in the locution "what about." No facts needed.

And what about adhering to the Constitution, Bob Wright?

How about you quit using the bodies of dead children to try subvert the 2nd Amendment, Bob Wright?

Maybe we can subvert the 1st Amendment and shut Bob Wrights mouth for him.

If the 2nd Amendment is up for subversion, we can just dismiss adherence to the 1st Amendment too, hmm, Bob Wright? We can shut you up. For the Children.

SGT Ted said...

If leftists won't recognize the 2nd Amendment rights, why should any of us recognize 1st Amendment rights for leftists?

Take away everybody's firearms because one 5 year old makes a mistake?

Let's try it again.

PS Not that it's anybody's business but yours, Madame, but you look a little thin.

Nice dress, though.

Bob Wright didn't agree, so I have no idea what the hell you're talking about.

Brian Brown said...

Interesting Ann that you don't like to take policy positions because "you're not an expert" on guns for example, but that goes out the window with gay marriage. We don't need no stinkin' experts for that!

The idea that there are some class of "experts" on these issues that should be listened to is silly.

He didn't make the mistake, pal, and don't forget that.

You're no pal of mine, you hypocrite.

Too bad the kid wasn't from Philadelphia; you could have had your hero, Gosnell, retroactively abort him.

I think I'd trust a five-year-old with a gun sooner than I'd trust Bob Wright with a blogger account. There's a limit to the damage that can be done with a gun.

Do public schools still have rifle clubs? Mine did, both junior high and high school, when I attended from 1989-93.

What Obama did was not want to deal with dynamics that he didn't want to happen.

So he made himself scarce.

The coverups are coverups of that.

Call it extreme but typical incompetence.

That must not come out.

Me on the road and so making a quick stop here. Hope the thread is correct.

We had the greatest POTUS in our history give a call to Jason Collins the day he announced that he was now free (from his whatever issue was that).

Did the President call Charles Ramsay, the real red-blue-white All-American, who saved three women and a little girl this week?

Did the WH call their families and said that we will do what it takes to bring justice?

Did the AG Holder call and said that he is going to throw the book at Castro and all men like him from this day forward?

What is wrong with our country? What is wrong?

Christie wins GOP nomination in 2016. But, he loses his election to now-not-known (but will be famous by then), Kristin Gillibrand from NY.

phx was all wussy and conciliatory when Romney was winning.

Now that the "election"'s been stolen and the Big Lie is in place, he thinks it makes him a tough guy.

Too bad the guys who need useless idiots like him are going to throw him under the bus when it comes his turn.

Just like what was left of the Viet Cong after the NVA took over.

Actually, I take that back. Nothing elevates the mood like a thick rare steak done on the grill and I'm starting to feel a lot better.

If you're running Windows 8 you may safely watch. Then if you find the polemics upsetting you can gesture violently at the monitor.

If one takes the idea the 2nd Amendment is a 'collective' right then surely the first one is also.

Thus the press can only have freedom of speech if the government decides it want's it to have it and no individual as freedom of speech.

But tell me, is Bob Wright a 5 year old?

Rabel said...

1. It's much more entertaining at 1.4x speed.

2. You're right. He twisted your position in the earlier video, but you drifted away from presenting the idea as a theory and dropped your qualifiers as he kept pressing, which made it easy for him to do so.

3. Wright pulls his "I know nothing" act on details which are not in his favor too many times for it not to be an act. Unless he really is that uninformed, which may be worse.

3. Nipple sighting at 49:23.

4. I kid. I kid. It was actually at 54:18.

Should a five-year-old have a gun?
No

Would a five-year-old have a gun?
Yes, if he could

Could a five-year-old have a gun?
Yes, but he shouldn't

Modality of choices. Laws aren't very good at proscribing coulds and shoulds and mostly stick with shalls and shall nots.

The answer to the question "should a five-year-old have a gun" is "no".

I'm not in any way against letting kids learn to shoot, but a five year olds are still in the "occasionally has trouble with potty training" stage.

How 'bout if I Photoshop Bob Wright out and Abby the St. Bernard in, and Bob's voice out, and Abby's voice in.

Abby seems kind of quiet, but they have the same eyes, so both opposite and alike, but there you go, I think at least it would make it watchable. So how does Abby sound?

Arf arf arf rurh rurh rawr arf. Arf! Arf! That's St. Bernard talk for, "Let's first check with Jon Stewart, crosscheck with DNC then I'll know which direction to take."

Bob Wright always gets caught in the least-flattering facial expressions on the stills from these Bloggingheads videochats. It's been the case for years; enough to make one wonder if that peculiar hangdog, downturned-mouth/upturned-eyes visage is his natural state.

If so, I feel for the guy. Especially if mum's no longer around.
