Creepy Boston lockdown.

The photo-op.

If you'd shown me those pictures a quarter century ago and told me that's what Boston will look like after a terrorist attack, I would have thought: Oh, my God! The neutron bomb!

chr*st, it looks like the London of 28 Days Later.

Given what happened in LA during the Dorner manhunt, and the number of police deployed here, it's as much to prevent accidental shootings by police as to make the manhunt easier.

The reason that the Bruins and Red Sox games are cancelled, is because everyone's afraid that the cops will shoot someone just out trying to enjoy themselves. This is what happens when the old hippies who rallied against the man and government eventually gets control. The new order.

John Kerry is Sec of State. Obama is President. Hillary the Bitch Clinton was part of government. BJ Clinton who once said that he hated the military is also to blame.

I wonder how many people would voluntarily stay home in this situation? Our little city of Lakewood, WA was caught up in a manhunt after Maurice Clemmons shot and killed 4 police officers in a coffee shop about 5 miles from my home. Even walking out of your house to stand on your front porch - you can sense something in the air. If you don't have on the go internet - you stay home glued to your TV or computer. There was no request from law enforcement to stay home - but when I did wander out about a day later (Clemmons still on the loose but we had run out of COFFEE) - Lakewood was oddly vacant: streets and parking lots empty, stores have a few dazed folks wandering around. I can't imagine something on this scale. What would the air be like - the weight of the tension?

Bruins and Sox postponed, Jay. Not cancelled. There is a difference.

But still--it's way beyond stupid IMO.

All of this while my city is still under lockdown due to violent Islamic terrorists on a killing spree.

There is no common ground to be had with the political left wing in this country. NONE.

This isn't a shooter. This is a guy that has demonstrated the capability of mass murder in a single act. His brother tossed another pressure cooker bomb at the police last night that only malfunctioned because the lid sprang off. There were also completed and fused pipe bombs found in his apartment. The safe and reasonable assumption is that if he is still alive he has both a firearm and explosives.

If he is still alive they want him on the move so he can be located and isolated and hopefully do this away from any place another or more explosives would catch a lot of people in the open. For all those reasons, clear the damn streets and keep them clear.

Big media went to sleep last night for a couple hours. I followed the goings on Twitter. The local media faced it bravely.

Right now, the city of Boston looks asleep, showing how little it takes to cow them. But they--somehow--will get beyond this.

France, 1915:

The sputter of shrapnel, the red squeal of field guns, N.E.; the growl of the heavies moving slowly through the air, the cr-r-r-r-ump of their explosion. But in a bombardment all tones mingle and their voice is like machinery running not smoothly but roughly, pantingly, angrily, wildly making shows of peace and wholeness.

You perceive, too, in imagination, men infinitely small, running, affrighted rabbits, from the upheaval of the shells, nerve-wracked, deafened; clinging to earth, hiding eyes, whispering 'O God, O God!' You perceive, too, other men, sweaty, brown, infinitely small also, moving guns, feeding the belching monster, grimly, quietly pleased.

But with eyes looking over this land of innumerable eruptions, you see no line. The land is inhuman.

But thousands of men are there; men who are below ground, men who have little bodies but immense brains. And the men facing West are saying, 'This is an attack, they will attack when this hell's over,' and they go on saying this to themselves continually.
~ Ivar Campbell (1891-1916)

For how long? Say he climbed through a basement window or is hiding in a warehouse, and they don't find him for 2 days, 5 days, a month. He could've shot himself and be dead behind a dumpster somewhere. With everyone inside, they won't find him till he rots. If they actually know what part of town he's in, it makes no sense to shut down the whole town.

As for shooter or bomber, he could kill more people now with a semiauto than a small bomb. He has no way of getting into a crowd now. Imagine if instead of the bomb at the marathon, he just opened up with an AK-47. Probably many more dead.

I heard a pundit lamenting all the indirect damage done by shutting down all economic activity for a whole day in Boston and expressing astonishment that two feckless criminal youths could shut the entire city down so easily.

Except they didn't. Our own authorities did that. This part of the damage is mostly not discussed. A bomb goes off, people are hurt and more are frightened and the damage spreads in a sort of auto-immune reaction. Starting with the police, all the authorities get excited and active and do things like shut a whole city down followed by curtailing freedom and increasing surveilance and generally becoming more and more of an intrusive burden and even a danger to the vast majority of the nation who not only have nothing to do with the problem (except tolerating a government with a hand in dirty business all around the world) but will never be effected directly by anyone involved.

The boatlaods of money, the militarized police indistinct from soldiers in all but name, the lost liberty, all the manefstations of the burgeoning and productively inert security state: All this we do to ourselves and all of it adds to the damage done by two small time murderers. I heard a pundit refer to the National Guard as police. The National Guard are not police!

The mindless veneration of all things military and the automatic acceptance that wherever and whatever we choose to use military force for is always for the good and that the motives of people who are provoked to retaliate are inscrutable or amount to (laughably) jealousy of our (rapidly disappearing) freedom has to be questioned. As of yet these assumptions are still piously regarded as unshakeable verities by most opinion makers. The more so after an attack.

No wonder we continue doing so much of the terrorists work for them by damaging ourselves in the aftermath. If I was one of them I would count on it.

The kid is either dead from wounds, got outside the cordon quick enough, or has friends/co-conspirators to shelter him.

I left the TV on all day just for yucks. The lead up to this seems great police work. What has happened since verges on TSA airport kabuki theatre.

That said, I do hope I'm wrong.

Homeland Security update

A student of the nefarious dark crafts of improvising explosive devices but a master at improvising disguises, including the Joker, and a cute little American boy, experts at Homeland Security remind us he could be anything so be on the lookout whilst cowering at home and if you see anything suspicious inside there with all the lights on full blast and not answering the door unless you know for sure it is the police, then report it.

The guy is dead, or walking the streets crying and feeling sorry for himself.
Most likely broke and out of ammo. His leader and hero older brothers' death will have taken all his strength.
If he is alive, he is trying to work up the courage to turn himself in, or to kill himself, if he has a bullet left.
He doesn't have the street smarts of the most basic common criminal.

Nowhere to run to, nowhere to hide

Meh, probably a little of both.

I guess I need photos of Boston on a typical day for reference. All those photos look like Boise at 11 AM on any given day.

I'm more struck by the uniform use of whatever Instagram filter that is. Probably makes the scene looks far more ominous than it otherwise is.

But yes, neutron bomb. Or rapture. Cities look odd without people decorating them.

Cody Jarrett said...

Hey Grandpa Mark--he ran his brother over in his rush to escape. So yeah...it's just taking all his strength.

The dude planted bombs that killed and maimed dozens. He shot a cop. He carjacked someone and told him yeah we're the bombers, we killed a cop earlier and we'll kill you.

Yeah.

Shots fired in watertown.

I think something may have just happened.

I've been watching this all last night and today. I can't believe all the misinformation the so called professional news organization keep putting out. Among others, the most stupid is their disbelief that he could have "gotten away by foot after the gun battle". Well, he didn't.

In fact, the police themselves told the reporters that the suspect got behind the steering wheel after his brother got shot, ran over his brother's body and then drove off. The police were probably not in their cars, were still taking cover, and tending to the wounded. He then had somewhat of a lead and by the time they followed, found his car and set up a perimeter, he had too much of a lead and time to get away. Nobody seems to remember that he drove away after the gunfight. They probably set the perimeter around the area that they found the car.

Hope they find him quick.

CEO-MMP Christ. You're in more dire need of a blow job than any white man in history.

Unfortunately for you:

1. I'm not gay.
2. You have to come up with
a better gay pickup line in your

'you sound like a white guy in need of a BJ'.

I want follow just what these two wanted to prove with all of this? Is Al Qaida now using Chechnya to stage their jihad?

Yes, Inga, AQ is in Chechnya.

It's no surprise they are in Chechnya, but it is a surprise that they have such influence over Chechens, being European. I worked with many Bosnian Muslims, not radicalized one bit, they ate pork and drank alcohol, and were not religious.

There's no boat. He's apparently hiding under the canvas which covers the frame of a trailer for towing a boat. He's alive.

It's a wealthy neighborhood.

Have been for a long time. But you'd have to watch Fox News to know that.

Man, that's quite a cop traffic jam there in Watertown. Even saw a guy with a DEA jacket standing around. Probably because the perp is thought to smoke dope. They'll get him on a drug charge if nothing else.

Methinks he protesteth a bit too much. Likely the poor little gay Jewish boy doesn't fare well even with a lifted movie line trying to get hookups...."Hey, you look like a white guy in dire need of a BJ."

Try something else.
Or are you "queering up the deal" by asking for money at the same time?

Cody Jarrett said...

Sure looks like a boat.
Canvas covered trailers don't keep the shape of the bow of the boat.

Is anyone watching the live feed? I stopped counting the cop cars after I got to 3 dozen. Also watching the ATF paramilitary types marching around, I'm sorry but after Waco wouldn't you think they would want to look a little less like the SA? Why the hell are they there in a "point" position in the first place?

JAL said...

Inga - AQ has been in Chechnya since *1995*

Get with the program.

They have been training the Chechnyans specifically to attack European "western" targets.

Cody Jarrett said...

LOL C4. You pull the "methinks he protests too much" thing out of your ass...but where have I protested anything? I simply clarified that it's a line from a movie.

All else--is shit you're pulling from your diseased brain. Or your ass. Same thing.

JAL said...

Breslan. Moscow movie theater. And something not too long ago with 31 killed a bunch injured. The Chechnyan Islamists (NOT ALL Chechnyans, obviously) have that mentality.

One wonders who the #1 brother spent his 6 months with back in Chechnya last year.

FOX 25 is reporting he's down after b/casting the shots audio just fired.

CWJ, no kidding. That is exactly what I was doing. Chechens cannot be compared to Afghanies that welcomed Al Qaida. The uncle became incensed when a reporter made reference to Chechnya and Muslim extremism.

Anonymous said...

But non-radicalized Muslims can be radicalized and there's no telling who or when, while non-radicalized Muslims, with some exceptions, do little to stop them.

Jihad is built into Islam. Not all Muslims become jihadists, but until Islam is seriously reformed it will remain a dangerous, violent religion.

After 9-11 Muslims worldwide polled their approval of Bin Laden's leadership from 10-70% depending on the country.
