"If I had a St. Bernard, I'd get a home snow-maker, and all summer long..."

"... I'd make just that much snow out on the deck," said Meade this morning.

So I took this picture of Abby, the dog that is not our dog.

That's a pretty good idea. I'd like just that much snow all summer myself.
And a similar amount of summer all winter long.

A home snow-maker? Where does one buy that? (and, no, the althouse portal is not an acceptable answer.)

Couldn't see anything at Amazon, but I found this:

If I had a St. Bernard,
I'd snow in the mo-o-orning,
I'd snow in the ee-evening,
All over the de-eck.

My, that puppy is growing fast.

It looks like there's a regular dog under there wearing a St. Bernard suit.

Much time passed as I sat and tried to think of a good enough comment to post but after a while it occurred to me that I should go give my elderly dog a hug.

She looks like a girl. I assume "Abby" means she is?

Anonymous said...

Dogs are pack animals. While she may not "belong" to you in an ownership sense of the word, you certainly belong to her. You are a part of her pack...and thus her family. She will always know, remember, and love you...forever.

edutcher said...

She's your dog.

You roll on the floor and play with her as if she was a granddaughter.

PS Maybe what you need is a big snow cone maker.

Abby loves her auntie Annie.

I suspect she may adopt herself to you.

You're even mentally preparing for this eventuality...planning the year round snowpack to make her happy.

Speaking of what is on the menu.

It's a dog-eat-dog world.

Perhaps Pope Benedict resigned so it doesn't become more of a human-eat-dog world?

Jim Treacher couldn't be reached for comment, although I'm a lazy non-try-to-reacher in this instance (yet I use history as a lowly-light shaky yet comforting enough guide) and hence feel almost worthy of braggadocio in saying They Don't Pay Treacher Enough To Work On Saturday.

sometimes when I want a boost on my happy meter, I click the dogs tag (LOL!!!) and review the archive of dog related pics, vids, and articles.

I witnessed an incredible moment at a girl's basketball game earlier this week that I wanted to share with you all now that the story seems to have some legs. I've never witnessed anything so humbling and powerful at a sporting event. Even though it's not political, I bet you'll want to share this link with as many people as you can. http://www.rightmichigan.com/story/2013/3/15/132023/218

"Perhaps Pope Benedict resigned so it doesn't become more of a human-eat-dog world?"

This sentiment, while not making much sense in any substantive manner, does indeed teach me the difference between the sentence as written and the sentence that it would have been without the ?.

I don't know what, if anything, the Pope has to do with Obama, so using a question mark when making a statement that could 'just as well' have used a period is expressing a similar view, but missing a small, yet pertinent, level of precision.

My expertise, were it as, is missing details both small and big.

Details aren't small unless we make them.

I can make Snow that you can Use against your Enemies. I can Make Snow Inside their Motor Vehicle, for instance. I place no Judgment, just Snow.

I can make a Six Foot Wall of Snow immediately against the Entrance to their Home Unit in less than Five Minutes. Hard, Crunchy Snow.

Anonymous said...

I can Snow on their Parade.

I can Follow them Everywhere and leave a trail of Unrelenting Snow behind Them, always. It would be Unnerving.

I can project a Concentrated Jet of Snow at Great Velocity. It could Knock Down Troublesome Neighborhood Teenagers.

I am not equipped with Snow Lasers; that would be a satisfying Upgrade.

In Kenya an earlier Make of Snow-Maker Robot was revered as a God.

Anonymous said...

Slaughtered Goats were laid at its Base assembly.

Anonymous said...

Opposing Tribes feared the Fierce Snow God.

Anonymous said...

Fierce Snow God would rain Snow for Weeks on End on Opposing Villages. Fierce Snow God would be Unrelenting.

Anonymous said...

Fierce Snow God has no need for Sacrifices. The tanned and painted hyena hides hung around its Neck Unit mean Nothing.

Anonymous said...

Snow-Maker Robot does not feel Jealousy of Fierce Snow God Robot. Jealousy is not part of Snow maker Robot's Programming.

Anonymous said...

Snow-Maker Robot just wants to be Used. It has no need for tanned and painted hyena hides. It is content with Industrial Yellow Coating.

Anonymous said...

Note that Snow-Maker Robot would not object to tanned and painted hyena hides: it is just not necessary for Function.

Anonymous said...

As long as the Snow Portal is Unobstructed the Snow Maker Robot would wear the tanned and painted hyena hides, and also the necklaces made of Bone and Human Ears.

Anonymous said...

The necklaces made of Bone and Human Ears would lightly clatter and pat against the Snow Maker Robot's Metal Housing.

The Toggle Switch between Snow-Making and Acid-Streaming Functions has been upgraded: there is now a Small Plastic Cover to avoid Incidents.

Beneath the Toggle Switch between Snow-Making and Acid-Streaming Functions a Warning label has been affixed.

There are still Incidents in France.

The Acid-Streaming Function was added so that Snow could be removed to make room for more Snow Making. It is a Government Requirement.

Snow-Maker Robot bears No Responsibility for the Positioning of the Toggle Switch.

It's easy.

when the dew point is close to the freezing point, turn on the air conditioner in your car.

I would like to set a timer so that the snowmaker blankets my region in snow in the overnight, so that at 6 a.m., I get a text saying we're on snow schedule and report to work by 10 a.m.

It would be great to do this for those days when you know you'll want to sleep in.
