"Friends and major donors insist that Mrs. Clinton is sincere in expressing ambivalence about seeking the presidency again..."

"... and they go so far as to assert that she is simply happy to have time to clean out her closets for the first time in decades."

Sincere... Clinton sincere... depends on what the meaning of sincere is.

The releveant OED definition of "sincere" is "Characterized by the absence of all dissimulation or pretence; honest, straightforward." Referring to persons, the word in English goes back to 1539, and the (unlinkable) OED has a lot of historican examples, but one stands out:
1824   Byron Don Juan: Canto XVI xcvii. 112   For surely they're sincerest, Who are strongly acted on by what is nearest.
In context:
So well she acted all and every part
By turns — with that vivacious versatility,
Which many people take for want of heart.
They err — 't is merely what is call'd mobility,
A thing of temperament and not of art,
Though seeming so, from its supposed facility;
And false — though true; for surely they're sincerest
Who are strongly acted on by what is nearest.
Right now, the closets are most near/To clean them must be quite sincere.

What is the definition of marriage, and be sincere.

"clean out her closets"

Perhaps this time, any missing subpoenaed documents can stay missing.

I believe it. It seems to me that Bill has a stronger desire for his wife to run than she does.

Thinking you want power isn't the same as having it.

Then the is the elephant in the corner: Benghazi. Hillary is smart enough to know that she isn't going to be given the same pass by the media that Obama has received. Bill Clinton loved the political fight; Hillary not so much.

If you want to run for President and your closets are full of skeletons....

Is there NO Democrat with balls enough to stand up to her?

AllenS said...

If Obama can win two in a row, Hillary has a good chance at getting elected. Skeletons make no noise when they're in a Democratic closet.

She's the Dem version of recent GOP candidates: old, related, next in line.

All I can I say is that if the nomination was not stolen from her in 2008, you would not be staring at the monstrous Obamacare right now and the economy would be on the road to recovery. Whatever diabolical stuff you can say about the Clintons, they are not as incompetent as Obama is and are as middle of the road as you can get with the Democrats.

Why has she got "major donors," if she isn't running for anything?

Nonapod said...

she still needs a staff to keep up with the considerable business of being Hillary Clinton

No doubt being someone is hard work. Sometimes it requires a full staff to be an unemployed person.

Cause she's as crooked as her "husband"?

Remember, VDH once described Willie as "the American Alcibiades".

She was a terrible candidate, unable to make decisions, etc.

What is nearest or what is dearest? Most dear to Hillary is her near dear self.

At this point its a skeleton crew.

She was a terrible candidate,

Yeah, that's when she came up with that story about dodging sniper fire, amongst other gaffes.

Nonapod said...

Well if she decides to bail at this point it'd leave the Dems with the likes of Joe Biden and Andy Cuomo.

Republicans must be careful what they wish for in 2016.. They already got the worse of the two in 2008..

SteveR said...

She thought 2008 was her chance to be the historic president and she got jumped over. I still think she has that burn and really what the hell else can she do. In her favor is an electorate and media that will give her a good head start. Working against her is that she is a lousy candidate, terrible public speaker and generally doesn't hold up well to lots of activity.

AllenS said...

Well, at least Hillary will have better war stories to tell this time. Like how she offed those meanies in Libya and Egypt. Plus putting the fatal bullet into bin Laden.

If Hillary had won in 2008, we would have HillaryCare instead of Obamacare. Both Obama and Hillary are cut from the same leftist collectivist cloth.

Actually, I would suggest that she is quite a bit more crooked. Slick
Willie's sins almost invariably involved sex, but hers invariably involved money or power. More money, I think, than power, per se. And, she left a string of financial scandals behind her, esp. back in Arkansas. I think though that the Clintons have so much money now, that her greed is much less evident these days, or, at least she can keep it under control.

I challenge Ann to have one sentence in a post about Hillary Clinton that is positive and without sarcasm of any kind. Ann gets off on snarling at HIllary. She is not emotionally detached and without needing to 'win' her point.

AllenS said...

Go ahead, Sarah, write a bunch of positive sentences about Hillary. You can start by talking about her birth and who she was named after.

SteveR said...

Well Sarah, if you had been around here long enough you would have seen plenty of "positive" posts about HRC. But as AllenS suggests, feel free to draft some up for us.

Once liberals and progressive Jews controlling most of US media saw a black man, their identity politics values forced them to boot-lick the black over the woman. Because blacks have higher moral aauthority than white women, hispanics, certainly white men at the absolute bottom of the lib-progressive Jew moral authority scale.
Both parties blew it in the sense that either Romney or Hillary would have had the country much better off than if Obama or the war-thirsty, clueless on the economy McCain had been elected.

But sad for America, that was not to be.
And we are in dire enough straits as a nation that I will happily take a crooked but competent President over a morally upstanding but clueless idealogue...or worst of all, a mildly crooked war monger or a mildly crooked and bigtime lazy and incompetent Obama.

a post about Hillary Clinton that is positive

How about this......Hillary can really rock the fresnel glasses!!

Ask her about Benghazi, she will become forgetful. Not very nice to be running for the presidency at her age and be forgetful.

I think that Newark mayor, soon to be the junior senator from NJ will run and will be nominated. Dems cannot win without the black votes, and if a black guy wants the presidency, he will be nominated. He is much more qualified than the one currently in the WH. How can the Dems deny him the nomination? Because they are racist?

Lydia said...

I don't understand why the Dems aren't talking up Antonio Villaraigosa, the mayor of L.A., for 2016.

Clinton (any of the three of them) ... is sincere ...

Now that has to have displaced "the check is in the mail," "that feature will be in the next release of our software," and "of course I'll pull out before I ejaculate" as the all-time leading falsehood.

Fudd, you actually made three posts in another thread yesterday without any Jew-bashing but I knew it wouldn't last long. Thanks for always proving me right about you. 'smatter, couldn't get it up for the flophouse JO today? Or did you have a brain fart trying to figure out what gender your imaginary "children" are this week?

The sincerity of Hillary Clinton. Really, can you put yourself in an objective frame of mind and think of this without bursting into laughter? No matter where I look it is clear that turds float to the top in American politics (perhaps politics generally).

Hillary without any "dissimulation or pretence" would collapse into puddled pantsuit on the floor.

It wouldn't look good for her to want it. People must beg her. I mean she is such an historical figure who's impact on the world has been so great.

She enabled her husband.
She enabled Obama.
She's due.

When she makes us pay, she'll be so far left that she will make Obama look like a John Bircher.

Gary Rosen said...

Definition of "sincerity"? What about the definition of "closet"?

Big Mike said...

As regards Hillary, don't you think she looks tired?

AllenS said...

Hillary I don't feel noways tired

I guess that we the people will have our work cut our for ourselves to urge her to run. Perhaps she can do a listening tour to hear our pleas.

Back in the day, we used to know when Teddy Kennedy was going to run for president because he took off all that fat. In Hillary's case, I think we'll know when (if) she fixes her hair. God! Sometimes she looks like a bag lady (can I still say that?).
