Third trip in three weeks. This is exhausting. How do people who travel for a living do it?

Illinois is charged with fraud. How surprising!

Made my first trip to Wisconsin last week. Stayed in downtown Milwaukee. We enjoyed our time there and the people were nice.

Althouse, a question on the 2nd Amendment. If DHS were to form a national, "well-regulated militia", would that be a basis for banning private ownership of guns?

On one of my trips, though, I acquired a 12-gauge shotgun (double barreled). So I have a gun now.

Probably not, the idea of a well-regulated militia carried the assumption people provided their own weapons. All able-bodied men are technically the militia, but firearm ownership could be government-supervised.

Consider Switzerland.

At 36:31 in the new entire blogging heads, Ann lays stress on a preposition "about."

That's bureaucratic speak.

English requires regular stress to happen, and if nothing is available in boilerplate talk so favored by bureaucrats, they'll stress prepositions.

I'd have stressed "reverence."

No. It's an individual right. The question is the scope of the right (which is about self-defense).

As Ann says, an individual right.

But even according to the somewhat older (but not original) idea of a "collective right", was in reference to the States and state millitias. The DHS, being a federal agency, would not count. (Nor does the National Guard, either - same reason.)

I get that I'm not supposed to feel sad about things anymore. I've gotten that. The part I'm struggling with beyond that is how I'm supposed to just forget stuff, just never remember what I know: just kick all that being there/knowing shit to the curb.

Well, OK. The problem is: It's not OK.

Just Let It All Go, I'm told, by folks whose point is that they won't let any bit go, and therefore I ought and should just give it over and up: Go silent and without comment.

Perhaps there's something to that. Is there?

Thank god this is a democratic, capitalistic country that would not let Obama turn into China, though he would like to -- you have heard him talk about infrastructure building from government coffers, haven't you, you know masculine work for men, not the girly healthcare work? The guy is not even original. But the Chinese situation in the video is going to be a disaster. Why! just a couple of days NYT had an article mocking Indian economy against Chinese. May be they didn't see this Chinese situation, what with all college drop out story spinning journolisters they hire for reporters.

It's all good, now that Obama has pardoned the sequester and deported it to Portugal.

The last clock to be reset, after the self-setting atomic clocks that didn't self-set, was the clock radio so that Rush comes on.

The bird sounds clock stays on standard time all year, so that the dog can tell time naturally.
