"When Sad, Single People Get Together And Eat Only Black Food."

"Black Day" — in Korea, where "there are roughly 13 holidays devoted to love."

That's what happens in a country that eats its dogs.

How did black food become popular in Korea? What kind do they like best? Barbecue? Chitlins? Fried Chicken? Sweet Potato Pie?

Oh, man, I'm hungry now.

What's the following day called? "Black Poop Day"?

DAD is making me hungry, too.

Collard greens ... black eyed peas ... mmmm!

That reminds me of the day our college cafeteria had Martin Luther King day food. It was all ribs and cornbread and watermellon. Hilarious and awesome! I ate there every meal that day.

(as a southern girl, I'll note that most "black" food is mostly actually "southern" food.)

Tzimmes is Jewish black food. It's a stew made from beef brisket, carrots, raisins, prunes and sweet potatoes, honey and cinnamon. The whole thing is cooked down and down over low heat till it gets dark brown and dense as a brick. It's not a true tzimmes if anyone can get up from the table after the tzimmes has been served. It's a great dish if eaten once or twice a year. Any more often could be fatal.

Was Black Food Day created after The Cook, The Thief, His Wife and Her Lover come out? Is it based on that riff on black food, sex, and death?

There is a US attempt to promote a counterpart to Valentines Day

I used to play guitar in a band called The Black Stools.

We went straight down the tubes.

I had some Blackened Salmon the other day. It was pretty good. I had it even though I was neither sad nor single.

Arroz Negro from Fino in London. Rice in octopus ink.

Not bad. Not great.

I had to eat black pudding at my aunt's house, because you eat what you are served.
