Attacking the aggressive Ted Cruz when Liz Warren simultaneously hits the Senate in full aggression mode.

Big Media is hot to wreck Ted Cruz. Here's the NYT piece: "Texas Senator Goes on Attack and Raises Bipartisan Hackles." Oh? Bipartisan has hackles? Well, then I guess those bipartisan hackles are also raised by Elizabeth Warren. Here's HuffPo: "Elizabeth Warren's Aggressive Questioning Prompts Anger From Wall Street."

The NYT forefronts this quote from Barbara Boxer:
“It was really reminiscent of a different time and place, when you said, ‘I have here in my pocket a speech you made on such and such a date,’ and, of course, nothing was in the pocket,” she said, a reference to Senator Joseph R. McCarthy’s pursuit of Communists in the 1950s. “It was reminiscent of some bad times.”
Boxer didn't name names, but the NYT wants us to know that referred to Cruz, but why not Warren too? Because the NYT wouldn't have structured its rhetoric that way if it had known that a new Senator from the Democratic Party was going to go into attack dog mode the day they published the piece?
In just two months, Mr. Cruz, 42, has made his presence felt in an institution where new arrivals are usually not heard from for months, if not years....

In a body known for comity, Mr. Cruz is taking confrontational... sensibilities to new heights...
Ha ha ha. Cruz, that clod, doesn't know the comity tradition. Meanwhile, here comes the brilliant Harvard lawprof, and she's not meekly conforming to the be-seen-and-not-heard routine. So how are those hackles doing now — those bipartisan hackles — raised... or lying flat and flobby?

Hackles? More like hacks.

And yet, nearly all my liberal friends insist there is no media bias.

Notice how hard they're going after Rubio and Cruz? Can't have a minority be successful that's on the other side.

Remember, the list of commies in the state department was scratch paper, but there were (are) commies in the state department.

Today I'd guess that the HCUAC would serve FB with a warrant and use graph search to figure out which state department apparatchiks were commies.

PS - Of course, now, Joe Biden couldn't get away with his plagiarizing as long as he could back in the day, so there is that.

The Dems will prep Warren for their first woman president. If what we saw in the last two elections should again come to pass, GoP and the non-Warren voters need not even bother to vote. If Dems want her, they will have her by hook or mostly crook.

When the oppressed "minorities" get worked up, they're valiantly asserting their rights.

When the oppressive "majorities" get worked up, they're angry haters. ("Minorities" with the temerity to identify as Republican become, by default, part of the "majority.")

Minority desires and rights trump majority desires and rights. This is the Diversity Code.

Althouse believes this, too, for her favorite "oppressed" minority. The values and rights of the 3.5% of the populace that is gay trump the traditional values and rights of the 96.5% of the populace that isn't.

These are the rules of the eternal Diversity crusade. Althouse isn't so much against these rules. She just picks and chooses her favorites.

Funny that Barbara Boxer would reference to Senator Joseph R. McCarthy’s pursuit of Communists in the 1950s, now that we know that Chuck Hagel thinks that the Israeli's are running the state department.

Google Image search for Hackle produces multitude of pics of fly-fishing baits, some pics of human or animal hair, but scarcely a one of avian with raised hackles.

We did not vote for Sen. Cruz, there having been a Libertarian at that ballot position. We are happy to have him there and hope he continues a steadfast advocate of responsible and limited government.

The tradition that new senators keep quiet for months, if not years, disappeared before World War II. It must be something that journalists learned in school, so their educational credentials and layers of fact checkers and editors at work blocked their view of contemporary mores.

NYT journalists expect Hispanics to abide by 19th century customs--to be seen but not heard. Racist hacks.

Look at the media's track record. Clarence Thomas, Sarah Palin, Jindal, Rubio, Cruz, Allen West, Michelle Bachman .... all treated with utter disdain. Labelled as stupid, extreme, whatever.

Yet they offer Pelosi, Boxer, Sheila Jackson Lee (astronauts planted a flag on Mars?), Hank "Guam may tip over" Johnson. Total up their brain cells and you couldn't reach a vegetative state.

During the hearing, Warren asked why ordinary people often faced prosecution while banks do not.

"You know, I just want to note on this. There are district attorneys and U.S. attorneys who are out there every day squeezing ordinary citizens on sometimes very thin grounds. And taking them to trial in order to make an example, as they put it. I'm really concerned that too big to fail has become too big for trial," she said. "That just seems wrong to me."

Was Warren practicing "selective interrogation" herself?

How many of those regulators Warren was needling are career versus Obama political appointees? Will she ask the same questions of Eric Holder, Geithner and Lew as the spin the revolving door?

In another email, a GOP bank lobbyist said, "Republicans also would like to know why the Democratic donor base has avoided trial. Maybe she should subpoena the DSCC and Obama's super PAC to answer her question."

Warren's speculation about bank book values versus stock price didn't include the prospect of a tanking economy causing more bad loans nor for that matter the impact of more onerous government regulation.

At one point, Warren asked why the book value of big banks was lower, when most corporations trade above book value, saying there could be only two reasons for it.

"One would be because nobody believes that the banks' books are honest," she said. "Second, would be that nobody believes that the banks are really manageable. That is, if they are too complex either for their own institutions to manage them or for the regulators to manage them."

"While Senator Warren had every right to ask pointed questions at today's Senate Banking Committee hearing, her claim that 'nobody believes' that bank books are honest is just plain wrong," a "top executive" emailed the financial newsletter. "Perhaps someone ought to remind the Senator that the campaign is over and she should act accordingly if she wants to be taken seriously."

The anonymous emailer said Warren was being as "extreme" as fellow freshman Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas), who asserted Tuesday without evidence that secretary of defense nominee Chuck Hagel may have received money from "extreme or radical" groups.

You see, if Democrats say nothing about Warren there are no "bi-partisan hackles".

Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, said that some of the demands Mr. Cruz made of Mr. Hagel were “out of bounds, quite frankly.” Senator John McCain, Republican of Arizona, issued a public rebuke after Mr. Cruz suggested, with no evidence, that Mr. Hagel had accepted honorariums from North Korea.

“All I can say is that the appropriate way to treat Senator Hagel is to be as tough as you want to be, but don’t be disrespectful or malign his character,” Mr. McCain said in an interview.

The "comity tradition" in the U.S. Senate came about because of the political situation in the 20th century. The Democrats were the majority party, but were sharply split on sectional lines, so that the effective majority really were the Republicans with the Southern Democrats, heartily disagreeing on the "colored question, but largely together about economics. Likewise, the Democrats had to hold together as a party until Lyndon Johnson finally blew that apart with his Civil Rights Bills.
So the system kind of worked like three overlapping Venn circles, and everybody had to play nice with some people they did not like in order to get anything they did like done, or things they did not like, not done.

Today, the situation is just twosided - Left vs. Right - and the Senators behave accordingly.

Actually, much less than 96.5% of the populace believes in what you consider "traditional values and rights" as demonstrated by the voters of Maine, Maryland and Washington.

This conclusion cannot be drawn from this fact under any circumstance, which reveals Warren knows essentially nothing about financial statements or markets.

Consider what this says about "experts" who claim the ability to understand others' needs better then they do and therefore the right to dictate what decisions other people should be allowed to make. Mind boggling.

We now have three Cuban-American Senators, two Republicans and one Democrat.

One Republican Senator made news - a whole lot of news - because he took a drink of water.

The other Republican Senator is being excoriated by multiple columns written by multiple columnists in the NYT, WaPo and Politico (and presumably PMSNBC)because a bunch of liberal elites think he was not sufficiently deferential.

The sole Democrat Senator made a little bit of news when it was learned he violated campaign finance laws by failing to pay for multiple trips on the private jet of a campaign supporter to the Dominican Republic, where he allegedly engaged in paid sex with an underage prostitute.
