"Do you Tweet?"/"I tweet when I’m prodded to tweet."

"What about you, do you tweet?"/"Only when forced."/"Exactly. Now why is that?"

"What about Facebook?"/"No, I don’t use Facebook. I absolutely don’t want to stay in touch with everybody in my past. I really believe in falling out of touch with people."

Hell, I don't want to stay in touch with people in my present.

I use FB only very reluctantly. I go there to see family photos and such but I make no comments there, "like" nothing anywhere, and I'm always just about to pull the account out by the roots. The bastards have taken to following you from place to place on the web wherever they've got one of those damned "like" buttons whether or not you hit the button. You can block them but first you have to know that they're doing it. It makes me think that people must have gone soft in the head to put up with it. I suppose this includes me now. But tomorrow, maybe not. The place gives me the creeps.

Because they are old, and the old dogs don't want to learn new tricks.

There are some people I never want to hear from again.

And they are certainly not my "friends".

Tweeting is vile and representative of the shallowness of our moment. Facebook is for teenagers and bored oldies.

Based upon the number of unanswered Friend requests, I conclude Facebook exists solely to to tempt me to look up people who really don't want to hear from me after all these years.

Why do I not "Tweet?"

Please. My personal sense of hubris has never reached that peak of arrogance that my every utterance is worthy of vast publication.

That's hilarious :-)) Nothing "new" about "tweeting"...just the medium used. Plenty of crazy people wander our streets speaking out loud to no one in particular. Same thing.

Ha ha... EDH beat me to it.

I only have a facebook page so that I can see what my daughter is up to. I share with no one on facebook. I don't want anonymous people "friending" me. I don't really want a lot of real life casual friends either giving me advice and constantly jabbering at me.

Facebook is annoying on the net because it just pops up, stalks you where ever you go and insists that you to participate. You can't make me!

What pisses my off about FB is the idiotic way in which it censors postings.

For the feast of St. Alexander Nevsky last year I wrote a troparion (like a Collect for the Russian Orthodox liturgy) in rap style with of course warnings to Swedes & Teutonic Knights to "y'all better watch your backs". I then linked it to a youtube of Prokofiev's Cantata/Soundtrack.

Well, the dumbfuck AI censoring software just saw ethnic violence and cut out the text and just published the youtube link.

Now, does FB tell you it's censoring you? Nope. Does it say "This posting doesn't meet our standards, and we will not publish it unedited"? Nope. It just mangles your posting so your friends have absolutely no idea what the fuck you are on about.

Don't even get me started on an interface that sends the text when you hit enter to space your lines.

In my mind Mark Zuckerberg ranks up their with Larry Ellison among the slimebags of IT history.
