"She should have paid them at least 10 grand. Two grand is not enough to get that kind of work done right."

When your first reaction to a murder-for-hire plot against you is the insult of paying so little for the murder:

He sounds quite "credible" about the topic about hiring contract killers - maybe he has had some experience?

Why would anyone divorce a man so knowledgeable about useful things?

Uh, I guess I'll file that away..

It's one thing to want me dead, but if you're not going to do it yourself, by God, don't economize. That's just tacky.

You are approaching an ego the size of Obamas?

I disagree about the size of his ego. He sounds like a very pragmatic type who cooly put himself in the place of the contract killers and did a quick assessment of the amount it would take to get the job done and done right.

He thinks like a lawyer. Picking the right professional and paying his fee does determine the outcome in many cases.

That's called not giving the bitch the satisfaction of seeing you even mildly perturbed by her attempt to make you miserable (or dead, in his case). Good on him.

He wins. Wins big, too - you could hardly have said anything as likely to infuriate the ex-wife as she catches the interview in the common room in the slammer.

Oh, I've heard of hits going for a lot less than that.

But, clearly, it just proves you get what you pay for.

Got to be a country western song in this.

I'll get to work.

Reminds me a bit of the story behind Garth Brook's "Pap Loved Mama."

A great tune if you haven't heard it. Punch lines:

Papa loved Mama
Mama loved men
Mama's in the graveyard
Papa's in the pen

A proof that people are often idiots to even think of doing this.

She should have gone the Horrible Bosses route.

He's right isn't he? He's still alive after all.

So I'm guessing all alimony ceases when she goes to the pokey?

Wasn't there a movie long ago where Bette Midler was insulted that her husband paid a hit man so little to kill her?

Is this a case of illegal aliens doing the killing Americans won't do?

PatCA: I think you're thinking of "Ruthless People"

Unless you were thinking "Beaches."

Upset about the ransom demand for her being "marked down", if I recall.

Ruthless People, a touching tale depicting the triumph of human spirit over adversity. She lost weight there in the basement so it was working out for her and she helped her kidnappers do a better job to hilarious results with Danny DeVito,

The recession is tough on everyone. If two grand is the going rate, you really shouldn't pay more. Assuming, that is, you're still getting full service.

Heh heh. wv: "suchHo"

That's right, Ruthless People. :)
