Santorum "plans to bowl at at 3:15 p.m. at Pla-Mor Lanes in Chilton..."

... and he'll end the day with a rally at the National Railroad Museum in Green Bay.

Meanwhile, closer to Madison: "Romney is scheduled to return to the area for a 'town hall meeting' at 5:10 p.m. Sunday at the Madison Marriott West Hotel, 1313 John Q. Hammons Drive in Middleton."

Just returned from supporting my blonde GF (who works for the Committee to Re-elect the POTUS) who ran the Cherry Blossom in Washington.

This afternoon we are having a great brunch celebrating the GOP ticket: Santorum-Gingrich.

To all GOP. We love y'all. Please give everything you have - money, time, mortgage, 401, etc. - to Rick and Newt. They have a direction connection to God. Please support them. And, thanks.

His final stop is a 7:30 p.m. rally at the National Railroad Museum..

Romney called the museums owner (who's also a friend) to congratulate him on the new acquisition.

I just wanted to try and help this one get into double digit comments. We'll see.

A double digit inflation..

Santorum had an Etch-A-Sketch with him when he arrived at the museum.. but they told him he would still have pay full admission if he wanted to come in.

tough crowd.

Well, his poolside photo in PR shows he's definitely got the body for bowling.

If one of the Wisconsin booms knocks over Santorum's 7-10 split, well, take it a sign.

Well at least of God's wicked sense of humor.

Santorum is having lunch at the Brewery and then he is going bowling.. on a Sunday.

Not a bed of roses at the Santorum household.

How is mittens, who is trailing Obama 52/35 in WI and currently has 34 favorable/50 unfavorable nationwide suppose to (((help))) Walker in his recall?

TIA for any help.

Much like mama grizzly, one would think Walker would not want to be anywhere near mittens.

Even Rasmussen has mittens trailing Obama in WI 52/41.

>

ok, not to worry as Walker just made another plea for help to the koch boys. :-P

Post and first comment filled with such odd specificity.

It's freakin Wisconsin! Have you seen those people roaming the streets lately? Whatever they're for, I'm against it.

Has anyone analyzed the water in Madison? The zombie apocalypse will surely start there.

The same way Obama is helping his congressional democrats?

Maybe?

If Obama is leading Romney by double digits in WI, Walker is toast.

The Madison Marriott in Middleton is obviously misnamed but a nice place to stay none-the-less. Good restaurants close by.

I would rate it a tad bit higher than anything Chilton has to offer. I experienced overnight accomodations at the Thunderbird Motel there. The carpet was damp from having just been cleaned. Overnight rates here beat the heck out of those at the Madison Marriott. I must say that I did not see Pla-Mor Lanes.

One would that with a lead that commanding, Obama would have absolutely no worries about coasting to re-erection.

All that stuff got built after I blew town back in '83.

The old Midview Motel on HWY 12 had Middleton's first cement pond. I wonder what stands their now?

A lot is going to tighten up once the nominee is clear.

And a 9 point lead in April is very surmountable.

I am planning to bake sweet potatoes at 12:53 p.m. today. Then I will put on my shoes at 1:36 p.m. and be in the car by 1:40 p.m. to drive to the "Is it a rock or a dinosaur egg?" museum.

I should really consider running for office, but like Scott Brown I should get the dirty photos done first and then run for office. It is a scandal to do it in the opposite order. Hi Anthony.

Mid-View was right on Highway 12 where the West Beltway ended -- close to Porky's Motel - where I survived a blizzard in '78.

That highway is elevated through town now and I think John Q. Hammonds Drive, where the Marriott and the Greenway Mall is located, is in approximately the same location as those old 1920ish motels. We need a local to tell us for sure.

Does Santorum preach the whole "no work on Sundays" thing? I grew up Catholic, and we always considered that a Protestant thing.

I don't recall anything in the Roman Catholic religion regarding banning bowling on a Sunday or even having a beer or glass of wine. The sabbath is a day of rest and if it relaxes you to bowl and have a beer.....well.....

Even Jesus would approve....after all he turned water into wine. If they had bowling alleys he might have been able to roll a 300 game.... if he didn't trip on his robe that is.

People just WANT to find something to bitch about. Perhaps you should go to confession and relieve yourself of the sin of envy.

There are few thing so simple and wholly American as a bowling alley called the Pla-Mor.

So sweet it could almost break your heart, in a Lileks sort of way.

Joe is probably your typical Madison anti-Catholic bigot. And like most bigots, doesn't know much about the people he hates. So he just mocks them using the goofy ass images he has in his mind of his targets.

Joe, moderate alcohol has always been accepted in the Catholic church. You may want to look at what the old-line Yankee Protestants in Milwaukee thought about the German Catholic immigrants 140 years ago.

I am not as familiar with Sunday sporting events, but I do know that my family Nowegian Lutheran church banned Sunday sports in the early 1900s, while the local Catholics played baseball on that day.

Damn if only it were Biden...imagine his questions.

"Is this where Laverne and Shirley worked?"
"Did they film the Big Lebowski here?"
"Where are all the Jews?"

The only one in the Zero administration with a second career lined up. As a comedian.

Who, like me, is sick and tired of seeing these pandering, staged, photo-ops, meant to endear the candidate to a voting block.

I am literally surprised that they aren't going to be grilling out brat's while wearing cheesehead hats.

And the one with the old fart coming in from goose hunting, dragging some poor bird that got killed last year and frozen just for that moment. You notice it's always bird hunting though, never a mammal. Nothing "pettable". God forbid one of these guys goes deer hunting. The reporters would crucify them.

"Pres. candidate shoots Bambi...what would he do to the elderly, and minority children?!"
"Trayvon could not be reached for comment" (too soon?)

Regardless, unless there's pic's of someone pulling a train, I don't care...just stupidity to me.

If this were a candidate going to a train museum on the QT, and it got leaked by a reporter, I would be more impressed, because that tells you something about the man personally.

That was one of my warning flags for Zero. Everything was scripted. Like a tele-evangical tv show, right down to the faintings, and faith healings.(tingles down your leg anyone?)

So is it fair to add bowling to the list of things & activities that urban lefties reflexively hate, or is that reading too much into it?

Funny thing is, the biggest loudmouth leftwinger in my neighborhood is a diehard bowler.

Santorum is just going to Pla-Mor Lanes so he can use the bowling ball polishing machine to buff his tarnished halo.

John Q. Hammonds Drive is west of Hwy 12.

My vague recollection is the MidView was replaced by a strip mall, which held, for a while, a Blue Spoon Cafe, the highfalutin' cousin of Culvers. The Blue Spoon in Prairie du Sac is nice. The one in the strip mall wasn't. That part of Hwy 12 hasn't moved, although I don't think it's called Hwy 12 anymore.

From wikipedia, "In 1998 Pope John Paul II wrote an apostolic letter Dies Domini, "on keeping the Lord's day holy". He encourages Catholics to remember the importance of keeping Sunday holy, urging that it not lose its meaning by being blended with a frivolous "weekend" mentality."

Santorum's position on several issues IS the Catholic position and he has been a moral scold on those matters, extending the Catholic position as THE moral position. Yet, his orthodoxy appears selective.

Bender said...

Joe -- here is the real thing, and not just the Wikipedia version.

Bl. John Paul II, Dies Domini (May 31, 1998) --

4. The custom of the "weekend" has become more widespread, a weekly period of respite, spent perhaps far from home and often involving participation in cultural, political or sporting activities which are usually held on free days. This social and cultural phenomenon is by no means without its positive aspects if, while respecting true values, it can contribute to people's development and to the advancement of the life of society as a whole. All of this responds not only to the need for rest, but also to the need for celebration which is inherent in our humanity. . . .
45. Like the first witnesses of the Resurrection, Christians who gather each Sunday to experience and proclaim the presence of the Risen Lord are called to evangelize and bear witness in their daily lives. . . .
52. Sharing in the Eucharist is the heart of Sunday, but the duty to keep Sunday holy cannot be reduced to this. . . .
68. In order that rest may not degenerate into emptiness or boredom, it must offer spiritual enrichment, greater freedom, opportunities for contemplation and fraternal communion. Therefore, among the forms of culture and entertainment which society offers, the faithful should choose those which are most in keeping with a life lived in obedience to the precepts of the Gospel. Sunday rest then becomes "prophetic", affirming not only the absolute primacy of God, but also the primacy and dignity of the person with respect to the demands of social and economic life, and anticipating in a certain sense the "new heavens" and the "new earth", in which liberation from slavery to needs will be final and complete. In short, the Lord's Day thus becomes in the truest sense the day of man as well.

Like Bl. Pope John Paul II notes, observing the Sabbath includes prayer and going to church, but we don't spend all day in church or sitting around doing nothing. Rest includes entertainment. And we are called to go out into the world after Mass to be a light to others.

Thus, Santorum going out to social activities and speaking to people about doing good is entirely consistent with honoring the Sabbath.
