Always was a little skeptical of his conversion, but, for his sake, I hope it was for real.

PS The Kennedys, Ozarks, Carters, and Obamas were no different. They just had the media covering for them.

Cynthia Nixon has an enemies list?

Meanwhile, in your latest post (4/21/2012), your enemies list is forming.

In the scripture the man with the biggest Enemies List of all time was tracking down and killing believers in The Way until the day he got knocked off his horse by the ascended Jesus. After that he was 90% the man who by obeying his Lord built the religion that we now call Christianity.

So Colson could be forgiven too, I guess.

It says nothing about Colson but everything about the haters who still want to think the worst of him.
But that's okay. They won't have to live in heaven with Colson for eternity. They will all be alive forever in the blackness of darkness, burning, burning, burning.

"He . . . served seven months in jail for his role in discrediting a political opponent."

Way ahead of his time. Now he would have become a TV commentator with that skill.

RIP.

Colsonreceived 15 honorary doctorates and in 1993 was awarded the Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion, the world's largest annual award (over US$1 million) in the field of religion, given to a person who "has made an exceptional contribution to affirming life's spiritual dimension". He donated this prize to further the work of Prison Fellowship, as he did all his speaking fees and royalties. In 2008 he was awarded the Presidential Citizens Medal by President George W. Bush.

edutcher, you'd doubt the Virgin Mary if it suited your purposes. Colson didn't do all this for almost 40 years as conditions of parole. "...but, for his sake, I hope it was for real." :P

Did you know Paul Newman was on the original enemies list? Paul Newman!

Most of these guys, I never heard of them.

Arnold Picker - fundraiser for Muskie.

Alexander Barkan - AFL-CIO dude.

Edwin Guthman - Bobby Kennedy's press secretary(!) Scariest press secretary ever. We got to get that guy.

Maxwell Dane - he's the guy who did that television ad with Goldwater nuking a little girl picking flowers.

Charles Dyson - ran the Dyson foundation and gave a lot of money to liberals (I guess).

Howard Stein - invested a lot of money in liberal causes.

Allard Lowenstein - member of the house, civil rights guy, anti-war guy. Thought there was a conspiracy behind the assassination of Bobby Kennedy. Went on Frontline with William F. Buckley. Sounds like an interesting guy.

Morton Halperin - political analyst for ABC and Time magazine. I guess I should have heard of him? Maybe? I got nothing.

Leonard Woodcock - Presdient of the UAW. I swear I've heard that name before. Was he in All the President's Men? Or maybe he was in Doonsbury one time. With a name like that, you'd expect him to be an egghead. No, he's a union guy.

S. Sterling Munro, Jr. - aide to Scoop Jackson. Arnold Picker was also an aide to Scoop Jackson. I get the feeling Nixon was terrified of Scoop Jackson.

Bernard T. Feld - helped develop the A-bomb, and then led a movement to abolish nuclear weapons.

Sidney Davidoff - suspected "bagman" for New York mayor John Lindsay.

John Conyers - Congressman from Michigan.

Samuel M. Lambert - teacher's union. I'm with Nixon on this one.

Stewart Rawlings Mott - Another rich guy funding liberal causes. He supported abortion, birth control, sex research, feminism, arms control, gay rights, civil liberties, governmental reform, and research on ESP(!)

Ron Dellums - Congressman from California.

Daniel Schorr - NPR guy. NPR, seriously? You're worried about NPR? Rush Limbaugh, now that's an enemy. NPR, bah.

Harrison Dogole - head of a private detective agency and contributor to Hubert Humphrey. Nixon was worried that Dogole was going to get some dirt on him.

Paul Newman - opposition to the war in Vietnam. And he did some effective TV ads for Eugene McCarthy in 1968.

Mary McGrory - reporter for the Washtington Star(!) Dude, seriously, maybe you ought to worry about the Post a little.

And there's an expanded list, too, but you know who's missing?

Bob Woodward
Carl Bernstein
Mark Felt

Curious--why is "cynthia nixon" tagged on this? Can anyone tell me? Colson doesn't get a tag and he's the one who died.

Ann always had a problem distinguishing Cynthia from Dick.

Pat Summitt was a spectacularly successful basketball coach. She's being awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom by President Barack Obama.

edutcher,

"Always was a little skeptical of his conversion"

You're kidding, right? Or maybe somehow you have *no idea* what he did subsequently?

Cynthia Nixon. This year's fad. Maybe it's because their names start with C.

Well, I'm glad Cynthia Nixon doesn't have a problem distinguishing what a Dick is.

I've met Chuck Colson and have followed his post prison career and writing. A great mind and an even greater heart. His life is evidence that there is a God and that there is redemption.

By their fruits ye shall know them.

Colson endeavored to lead people to Jesus for 36 (that would be for the rest of his life, edutcher). I remember passing his book, Born Again, to do the same.

In eternity I'll bet one of the first thing Colson heard was "well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful with a few things. I will put you in charge of many things."

It is almost pornographic to suggest Nixon's enemies list is the defining moment of his life. It's a reminder of the upside down-ness of the world, which calls good evil and evil good.

Colson died a moral giant. But death will not hold him, for he died a redeemed man.

Really? You think he might have been faking it for nearly 40 years?
