Condi for VP? "How many ways can I say it? Not me.”

"I think we should go another direction and find somebody who really wants to be in elected office."

Good. Another unnecessary distraction and opportunity to blame Bush.

Oh, she's just a woman. She's been saying the same thing about elective office for over 10 years, but the news media think somehow she does not mean it or will change her mind.

She won't. She knows who she is. Impressive lady.

Having Condi as the VP candidate would potentially weaken the racially based campaign that Fox News/the Republican Party plans to use against Obama.

I want a Dick Chaney like VP..

I have no idea where Condys core principles lie..

My recollection is that she was a mediator, referee.. on the sidelines.. not pushing policy.

It's because of that attitude among too many politicians that we end up with the Romneys, the Santorums and the Gingriches. The Sarah Palin experience frightened many off; who wants to announce for office, only to have "battalions of reporters" fly in to your home town intent on digging up dirt?

Heh. If she did run it would be funny to watch the racism from the left. Heck, the the Clinton camp could barely contain themselves during the primaries in 2008. If Bill thought Obama should have been fetching him coffee back then, Condi would have been one of 'The Help'.

Condy plays well in the orchestra. But she has never desired to take over the Conductor's job. Only an insane ego maniac would want that job.

The fact that she doesn't want the job is a major reason why we'd be best served if she took it.

My understanding of Dr Rice is that the job she really wants is commissioner of major league baseball.

Roger: NFL, not MLB

Anyway, nobody when asked as answered this question in a positive. Maybe they don't want to get into the middle of the nominating process. Cynically, maybe they don't want to say yes to one candidate publicly and then watch another one get the nomination, thereby eliminating themselves from the nominee's short list.

Ms Rice saying "No" while seated on the curvy couch is a lot different than saying "No" to the actual Republican Party nominee on a private phone call.

Just give it all time.

Tom B: thanks for the correction.

Condi is an Obama Girl! As I recall she refused to endorse JohnnyMac and hinted that she voted to make history!

Much as I love Condi, if she was the VP it would allow Obama to run against Bush, again.

Yeah, but those bastards are all crooks!!

She has the right visuals, but her politics are too far to the Left.

And she understands that.

Good for her.

Biden wanted the gig, didn't he? How's that working out for us? He has set the bar so low as to be nigh unlimbo-able.

Time for a confession: I never liked Condoleezza Rice very much. She came off to me as an intellectual lightweight who once said some smart things, but had nothing new to add.

Yes, his latest has every military history buff on the 'Net in ROTFL mode.

@edutcher

Yeah, that was significantly beyond the pale.

I assume the Biden gaffe was his statement concerning killing bin-Laden:

"You can go back 500 years. You cannot find a more audacious plan."

Scott M said...

On target. You could probably go back 500 years and not find a more stupid statement.

I wish the GOP would get over its obsession with women and minority candidates. It's embarrassing.

You know how you can tell when a Secretary of State has done an excellent job?

There are no "D'oh!" moments on the resume.

No "Reset buttons."

No "James Bond (US Only)" gifts to the British PM.

No frickin' Libya/Egypt/Whatever "Springs" that turn into anti-Western blizzards.

Anyone who's calling Rice a lightweight compared to BAU at State right now needs a fast re-think.
