Wondering when/if you'll comment on the HHS mandate and religious freedom.

That's one bad case of the winter blues.

But hope usually returns by morning.

I dont subscribe to the view as commercially interpreted in the experimental film Koyaanisqatsi
(1983).. that our lives is out of balance and that inbalance will inevitably lead to some sort of direction altering collision.. what direction is not evidently made clear in the film.. but the Hopi Indian title is a clue.

I watched the film the other day.. drawn to it by the Glass score.. I was supposed to have "an expirience" but it left me flat.

Boring into our souls to see what's written.

Lem, I remember Koyaanisqatsi! I didn't know what to expect, and after about the first ten minutes of swooping landscape scenes, I imagined that the camera might zoom up on a nerdy kid who would say, "Hi. I'm Koyaanisqatsi, and I'm going to take you on a wondrous journey!"

Didn't happen.

Calling on applicants for a call center I'm putting together for my fledgling young business. Could have outsourced, but decided not to. So will put a couple dozen people to work. Decent wage, no benefits, mind numbing work, but am pleasantly surprised at the attitude of many of the applicants. One woman, a single mother of two said "It's a job, and sometimes a job just needs to get done". She's hired!

Far cry from the whiny bitches carrying signs at the Capitol.

There are excess barriers everywhere.. everything from eating and drinking to political contributions.. you cant give more than what you already have.. I think.

Excess always bears a price.. otherwise wo wouldn't have a word for it.

I want to buy Ameritopia.. and maybe read it.. but the idea that this is just another doom and gloom book is keeping me at bay.

Its not just the left with man made warming.. the right can be just as gloomy too.

I wonder why that is.

Sorry, it's not Lem. We deal with PHI and identity stuff so we want to keep it in house. One of the reasons not to outsource.

Stop it, Althouse! That picture gives me an instant headache! Seriously!

I think Dylan has a similar problem to you, Althouse, back when he lived in Brooklyn Heights in a basement down the stairs.

Bob wrote a song about his life and experiences.

Why don't you write a Kindle Single about your life and experiences?

Written well, and written this year, it could be #1, you know. You could dislodge Fred Stoller! It is still very very early in the development of e-books, so the opportunity is there right now...

I'd like to hear how an artsy person like you went from that iconic student photo (the one with the legal papers and the tits that everyone steals) to the #1 law blogger in the world!

I thought that you might have posted a comment on the legal interpretation of the Georgia Judge Micheal Malihi's last Friday night opinion on whether President Obama could be on the Georgia Presidential Ballot... it seemed to be a crazy legal argument that spoke out of both sides of the Judge's mouth....

When I die... again... I wanna be reincarnated as Leonard Cohen. I like his nose and his dignity and his raspy voice. I'm listening to his Live in London performance of Bird on a Wire right now. And it ends with this deep blue bit:

I saw this beggar... he was... leaning on... his wooden crutch... he says to me, Leonard, you just can't ask for all that much...

A pretty woman... standing in her darkened door... she cries out to me, Hey! Why not ask for a little bit more?

Like a bird on the wire... like a drunk in an old midnight choir... I have tried in my way... TO BE FREE!!!

God bless America!

oh... I mean... Canada too... I guess...
