Democratic Senate Minority Leader Mark Miller said the disruptions inside the chamber were not surprising. "It illustrates the sharp divide the governor's policies have created in the state," he said.

Yes, of course they do. This group of idiots live in the Madison liberal echo chamber. If they hear any alternative point of view they respond with disbelief. Genuine disbelief. And when faced with the reality of this alternative point of view they respond with anger.

You become shocked that not everyone in the world thinks just like you.

Take a look at the IRS tax schedules and you'll see that at 35.8% Ms Bosneak would have to be pulling down $388,350 in taxable income if she is married and filing jointly.

So she's either lying or she's in the top 1% of income earners in the country.

Yes, and all is well because Warren assured us she makes $60,000!

Which of course makes him cheap, but hey, it's politically convenient.

Luckily in the advent of the Internet age the left can't get away with such shameless dishonesty anymore.

Despite a heavy tax burden, Warren Buffett’s secretary last year was able to purchase a second home in Arizona, a residence complete with a swimming pool and a “professional PGA putting green,” according to real estate records.

Debra Bosanek, 55, and her husband Gerald bought the 2100-square-foot home in Surprise, a city outside Phoenix. The Bosaneks paid $144,000 for the four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath property (the purchase was financed, in part, by a $115,200 mortgage).

Oh well, another silly liberal lie exposed.

At $60k married filing joint she's at 15%

Warren Buffet’s secretary, Debbie Bosanek, served as a stage prop for President Obama’s State of the Union speech. She was the President’s chief display of the alleged unfairness of our tax system – a little person paying a higher tax rate than her billionaire boss.

Bosanek’s prominent role in Obama’s “fairness” campaign piqued my curiosity, and I imagine the curiosity of others. How much does her boss pay this downtrodden woman? So far, no one has volunteered this information.

We can get an approximate answer by consulting IRS data on tax rates by adjusted gross income, which would approximate her salary, assuming she does not have significant dividend, interest or capital-gains income (like her boss). ... The IRS publishes detailed tax tables by income level. The latest results are for 2009. ... Taxpayers earning adjusted gross incomes of $200,000 to $500,000, pay an average tax rate of nineteen percent. Therefore Buffet must pay Debbie Bosanke a salary above two hundred thousand

Almost a year after Illinois’ record income tax increase, the state’s unemployment woes contrast starkly with the slow but positive national economic recovery. Of course we see contant posts here about the "violnece" which have included some guy ripping up a blank petition form. This inanity is not surprising from an asshat that wants to recall a governor over theoretical lack of scheduled lunch breaks because they are "life and death".

While I wasn't blaming the WI-GOP (that is, the organized political arm of the Wisconsin State Republicans) in that post, I can see how some folks may read it as such.

Please note for the record: I do not believe that the WI-GOP (that is, the organized political arm of the Wisconsin State Republicans) are directly to blame for the three reported acts of vandalism at the Recall Walker HQ in Columbus.

I also do not believe that the WI-GOP (that is, the organized political arm of the Wisconsin State Republicans) are directly to blame for the men who spit on people gather signatures, the countless number of birds being flipped off, the stalkers calling recallers at home, the attempts to start fake petitions, the rocks through the windows, nor the many incidents of petitions being destroyed/vandalized.

Thank you for allowing me to clarify a false perception of my opinion. And yes, that is sincere - not silly.

*sigh*

I never said, nor even implied, that missing a meal break will result in death. What I did say is that meals/breaks is one of the safety issues that will be lost due to the collective bargaining ban.

As I've asked before, is it truly unfathomable to cube-farmers (don't mean that in a bad way! beentheredonethatgottheteeshirt) that there actually are trades/professions where fatigue is a true safety issue? Working 8-12 hours without a break while sitting at a desk is a lot different than being on your feet the whole time while working with (and moving around) very heavy equipment and gear.

There are many workers who do some dangerous stuff sometimes, and the State as well as cities and counties have some of those folks on the payroll.

And also please keep in mind, that was only one of many examples that was brought up when it was asked for me to name any safety issue that will be lost due to the ban on collective bargaining that OSHA or the State doesn't already cover...other examples I gave were rigging and climbing rules, certification requirements (I ain't working next to a forklift driver who doesn't know what he is doing), as well as procedures regarding heavy voltage equipment.

These are all real and actual issues. The main reason our union organized in the first place was because people get hurt, and even sometime die, in our trade. Even to this day it is still dangerous at times, and this ban on collective bargaining has made it even more dangerous.

Are you suggesting that the lack of collective bargaining has caused the state to require work that was not required before? Are you implying that the state has decided to relax safety rules as a result? I would like to understand how the state can impose working conditions that are unacceptably dangerous when a moment before they did not. Examples of the roll back in safety would be helpful.

But don't you have it backward?

Hard to accuse the other side of hypocrisy when making a face and muttering to one's self or uttering two audible words during Obama's speech was an outrage.

At least on the right a person can legitimately say... "Hey, that's a bit more disruptive than a couple of audible words, isn't it? We'd complain if someone stood up and started protesting during the State of the Union, we really would."

And the left would not be able to point to a similar disruption to prove that, contrary to claims, a similar disruption would not be condemned. Only there hasn't been any.

But what does the defender of this say? Did they support the two words "you lie" so that now they can legitimately support this expression of opinion?

How is making a face and muttering something or two audible words an outrage and this clearly more extensive disruption not? What is objectively different? More disruption should be more outrage, right?

You were called out on it and now you're, what? Claiming your were just posting a weather report as if this the weather.com Web site?

Yeah, thanks for the update, Debbie, and now back to Chuck for the rest of news ...

Pretty sad that you can't even discuss weather and travel advisaries without screwing it up.

No one was stopped from speaking. No idea was suppressed. No one was denied the opportunity to dissent. It's only on the left that "free speech" = "I get to shout you down."

I have NO problem with noisemakers or protesters being expelled from a speech given by Obama.

But I do wonder, Shiloh... are Obama's speeches not noisy free-for-alls because Obama ALSO has trouble makers removed (making him just like Bush... and I'm waiting for your condemnation) OR are people on the right simply possessed of much better manners?

Which is it?

garage mahal said...

"I never said, nor even implied, that missing a meal break will result in death. What I did say is that meals/breaks is one of the safety issues that will be lost due to the collective bargaining ban."

So... theoretically the rules MIGHT change. Haven't changed yet.

Breaks are federal law, are they not? No employer operating sans union can deny employees breaks during their work day. Not legally. If employers without unions can't do it NOW how do you suppose it's going to change for employers who used to have stronger unions but who STILL have unions?

You make this stuff up and talk like it's already happened.

purplepenquin said...

Micheal,

The examples I listed are actual things that are not covered by current laws/regulations. The ban on collective bargaining doesn't roll back any specific safety rules, rather it makes it so that no safety rules can be part of a union contract with the State/City/County.

I'm not saying that each&every safety concern I raised will be a problem due to this ban, rather I am pointing out that these safety concerns (as well as others...prison guards have a whole 'nother kettle of fish they are worried about) will no longer be able to be contractually enforced, and instead will be (at best) merely a suggested way of doing things.

Petunia said...

Of course you're allowed to have an opinion, but weather conditions aren't opinions.

And if you'd checked a detailed weather site, or an aviation weather site, you'd have seen that the conditions you posted were incorrect.

Seriously? How did I stick up for these people charged? Do you have anything?

And again, no one was charged with child molestation. Brian Pierick was charged with child enticement and causing a child to expose genitals, all having to do with text messaging.

Finally Brian Pierick not only did not commit these alleged crimes when he worked for Walker, he never has worked for Walker. He is the "domestic partner" of Timothy D. Russell, a former top aide to Scott Walker when the governor was county executive.

You are a liar and an idiot.

purplepenquin said...

So... theoretically the rules MIGHT change. Haven't changed yet

Well, obviously people who are still operating under current contracts haven't lost those negotiated terms. But the ban on safety issues being included on new contracts is real&actual, not a hypothetical situation.

Breaks are federal law, are they not? No employer operating sans union can deny employees breaks during their work day. Not legally.

No, breaks/meals are not a Federal law and yes an employer can do exactly that to an adult worker in Wisconsin. (The state does place limits on how long someone under 18 is allowed to go without a break)

I worked for a call center (taking reservations for a resort) about a decade ago when this issue came up. 'twas "busy season" and they decided to cancel all meals/breaks. It ended up not lasting too long 'cause most of the managers smoked so they would also let the smokers sign up to go outside one-at-a-time for "puff breaks", and well...anyone who has worked in an office can picture the rest.

Just because you personally haven't encountered such a situation doesn't mean it is just made up.

Purple P:

I see. I think you would do better to support unions on the basis of their economic help to the members rather than the safety issue. Your union may, indeed probably does, couch economic matters in terms of safety just as the featherbedding of the railroad work rules were. The truth is the safety rules generally result in more pay styled as less work for the same pay or more hours to do the same job resulting in more pay.

the state, your employer, really and truly does not want you to be hurt on the job. The state, your employer, is not an evil "boss" requiring desperately hard and dangerous work for little pay.

And you know it.

purplepenquin said...

Hopefully you know I never said they were evil.

I also hope you know that some managers may sometimes push the workers harder than they safely should. That doesn't make 'em evil...sometimes they don't know better, sometimes they are under their own pressures to get it done, and sometimes they are just being an a-hole.

But no, I am not saying nor even suggesting that the State, or any other employer I work for, is "evil".

Garage, Neither Curious George, nor anyone else on this blog has "defended child molesters." Your suggestion otherwise is dishonest in the extreme, and does you no honor. It reflects poorly on your other assertions and arguments.

Pierick seeks dismissal of child enticement charges

The complaint points out that although the teen claimed he was almost 19 years old, he made several references in his chats that would have suggested he was not yet 18, such as the fact he was still in high school, lived with his parents and had never engaged in the sex acts being discussed.

Gee, when I was a senior in high school, that was probably the profile of the majority of my classmates - I myself turned 18 in early September of my senior year. I don't think there is really any intent to have a successful prosecution, if this is all they have re" "child enticement".
