"Bungee cord snaps above crocodile-infested waters..."

Video.
Erin Langworthy... had to swim with her feet tied together to the Zimbabwe side of the water, and had to free the cord when it got caught on rocks.

Love the girl. She's not all upset after, and did not panic when it happened.Pretty much saved herself.

Way to go, Lady Round Eyes.

Why is is the BBC calling calling a peaceful gathering of crocodiles an infestation.. in their own habitat?

..that girl could have landed on one and killed the innocent crock right were he swam every day of of his life.. leaving his young crocks fatherless.

Nothing less than Crock bigotry.

Shame all around.

Sounds like something they'll institute at Ranger School when the new Administration begins in Jan '13.

Well, the only thing dumber than bungee cord jumping is doing it over crocodile infested water.
So there's that.

I'm going to go on a limb.. and say that my initial reaction was.. good.. its about time.. (I would never go on/off a bungee see?)

A limb because it is a hope that the sensors, overcomed by my honesty (and remorse at such a defect of character) will let the confession stand and not push it over the bridge and into the void called deletion.

For it was wrong of me to think that.

Just saying.

Now that's a pretty girl. I wonder how she'll feel about bringing me my pipe and slippers?

I've jumped out of some perfectly airworthy planes in my time but bungee jumping has never sounded all that interesting.

Saying the waters were filled with crocks adds to the drama, but if they were really an immediate threat I doubt this story would have the happy ending that it does.

After swimming to the Zimbabwe side, she was too exhausted to walk back to her starting point and therefore took a taxi for the one-mile trip. Best 100 quadrillion Zimbabwean dollars she ever spent.

That was my initial thought.

Then it dawned on me what might be dumber - attempting that again.

Not exactly to the point, but why go to a Commie Hell hole like Rhodesia for a vacation in the first place?

For the same reason some people go to Haiti, I suppose.

BBC kept out the part where Dean Martin and Ricky Nelson burst into song on the Zimbabwe side.

The bungee cord looked quite frayed as she flung herself down, and it snapped at a joint.

How many times can the rubber inside a bungee cord be stretched at that force before the inevitable failure?

Are bungees automatically replaced after so many uses?
Not in Zimbabwe.

... doing it in Zimbabwe trumps the crocs.

Oh, pogo basically beat me to it.

Suffice to say, unless it's been vetted by the "Amazing Race," don't do this stuff in the 3rd world.

Google bungee jumping in macao.

Catch the accident with another young chicklet looking for thrills.

If garage were awake (dirty dozen lingo there) he would say that it was only a matter of time before we would accuse Obama somehow..

Of course I'm trying to rise to the challenge.

I have been there, rafted there, swam there. there are no crocodiles downstream of the falls for quite a while. there is no economic interest in tourists being eaten by crocodile.

We have a czar for that.

You go, grrrl!

I bet a male would have panicked and not survived in her situation.

Don't use bungee cords on bicycles.

An end always works loose when a load shifts a little and snags a spoke.

Bungee ends are designed to snag spokes.

You can clearly see the frayed bungee cords. They were probably old, hadn't been changed in a long long time and finally snap. Africa, what a great country.

Did she buy the bungee cord from Acme?
