Occupy Wall Street is coming to Madison... "Occupy Madison."

Jeesh. Just what we need. I mean... I appreciate the photo ops, but... I feel like I've been through this movie before.
... the event begins at 6 p.m. Friday at Reynolds Park, located off East Dayton Street near Lake Mendota. Actions are scheduled to run through Jan. 31.
Reynolds Park? After the occupation of the Capitol last winter, occupying Reynold Park seems like a rather pathetic encampment.

I jsut wasted a few minutes on the website of these clowns, something like 99%.org. It's pictures of people and their tales of woe, mostly involving crummy jobs and high student loans. Apparently society owes good jobs to all these folks with Masters of Fine Arts without regard to their contribution to society.

MFA and a crummy job? Maybe you should've thought of that before $80K in debt. Word is, they're coming to my area too. Great. Tie up the traffic for the working stiffs. Should be a great way to get sympathy for unemployed white college kids.

Occupy Madison? I think they have a beach head already.

I did not understand why, if these protestors in Madison are serious and competent, they did not take the opportunity to raise a huge stink last Saturday, when millions and millions of people were watching an event on the UW Madison campus.

I guess it's the part about serious and competent that undermines my argument.

They've launched a creepy video.

P.S. Why Reynolds Park? Won't that dislodge homeless people?

If student loans are a problem, why don't they burn down a couple of universities?

Michael Haz said...

Their demands get a little blurry once they go past "forgive all student loans".

If you don't want to pay your student loans, don't pay them. Very little bad can happen to you, and eventually, a very long time from now, the banks who lent you money will have no claim.

Just don't expect any credit for several years.

What's unfair about that?

Obviously, they can't stand the idea that Althouse, the Conservatives' lovable Liberal, has become the Great Sword of Truth of the Midwest.

But she will destroy them as she has swept all others before her.

Has Reynolds Park ever had a great cloud of flies rising above it before? It will now.

Do they know what winter is like in Wisconsin?

He says he and others who are participating in the Occupy Wall Street events will be distributing the famous foam cheesehead hats and other Wisconsin "gear" to tie together the ongoing movement in Wisconsin and Occupy Wall Street.

Time to buy stock in the company that makes the cheeseheads!

Every time an American thinks to him or herself, the Wall Street brokers are scumbags, the Bankers are scumbags, the CEO's are scumbags--every time an American thinks this, an angel gets its wings.

Lord, I hope they are still there in January.

I mean, what happens when we don't meet their "demands"? They have to stay, right?

Anonymous said...

J -- It's going to be Jewish bankers hung in effigy, for their rackets.

But, tell me: will there be a booth there where someone will tell us about John Edwards's plan to eliminate the poor, since you won't?

Also, how much can you bench press? I forget.

But computer time is over, Mr. Loughner, and it's time to get back to your psychiatrist. So tomorrow. I'll wait.

J said...

Don't worry yr little head about it, Nachoitos--get back to work helping out the Romney-tard campaign and...zionist capitalism. That is, until/unless the real Rev happens and yr tossed out of a highrise. Fly, swine

J said...

Yr the Loughner guy ,Nachitos. Ayn Rand ,occultists, immigration hater, Hitler, NRA--right up yr alley, wiccaswine

J -- Please tell us about zionist capitalism? What is it? What are its tenets?

Also, tell us about the real revolution. I must know. Tell us everything. When will it happen? Where? Who are its leaders? What happens after?

Joanna said...

Can't they have the decency to occupy a park on the Willy St side of E Wash?

J said...

The royal We again eh Nachitos? Your paranoid delusions again showing.

It's too difficult for you, hayseed.

Hand out shocking meat video posters and I'm sure folks will think that is cool. Like, it's a protest man.

J said...

did you know Trotsky himself opposed Zionism, while hardly an anti-semite? (ie, he was ofjewish-russian heritage--yet also claimed he did not know a word of hebrew) No, you didn't know that Nachito , since you don't know fuck about politics. Now,spout more inane gibberish to remind us of what hayseeds really are about.

So Trotsky is going to lead the revolution?

J said...

??? Are you mentally ill, Nachitos, or just some stupid yokel??
?

For those who know Madison - is there some type of importance to the choice of Reynolds Park (symbolic or otherwise)?

Anonymous said...

I just want to know about the revolution. And the Zionist capitalists.

Please educate me.

It's within walking distance of the Capitol and (from what I recall) has less of a regular police presence than closer parks. Here's a pic.

From their FB page:
WHY THE PARK?
It is for staging area purposes. This is a space we feel we can occupy as numbers build and move along to larger...areas.

As I wrote earlier, what is really needed is Occupy Janesville. Even in Russ Feingold's home town there are evil corporations that must be confronted, on their home turf, being evil.

I wonder if some of the regulars from the Capitol protests will be there like train conductor guy, angry black dude, and others.

How will we know when the smelly hippies occupy Madison?

They did an "Occupy 'Burque" thing last weekend. I saw a flier for it posted in the ladies loo at UNM last week and an impassioned letter to the editor of the university newspaper about the event yesterday.

Yes, it seems that students able to attend University are not privileged, they are oppressed.

I had no idea.

I don't know why Democrat politicians or liberals are giving this whine-fest the time of day. The message isn't *liberal*. It's some mash up of anarchist/communist/anti-consumerist garbage, far as I can tell. Darn those horrible businesses that make stuff that I have to have! Darn them for making me have to have it and then making me pay for it!

The letter to the editor was a good one... lots of big words. It included the horror that students had to chose between paying rent and eating... no, not between rent and food... had to chose between paying rent and eating *healthy* food!

Yes, Charlotte, the dollar menu at McDonald's is much cheaper than Whole Foods organic fair-trade imported tiny-portion vegan meals.

Bite me.

They've been "occupying" Asheville for several days -- a week? now.

The rest of us go to work or are at home putting things away getting ready for the coming cold weather.

Unions joining in. Curious if the WH is involved in some way to take advantage.

Why are universities spared their wrath? Or the government? Banks didnt make college overpriced but useless

Seriously, don't the anger studies programs owe these people a refund for selling them subprime degrees?

Does Napolitano still think the Right is the most likely source of terrorism now? Because I dont think a mob of imbeciles in masks "occupying" cities is anything but terrorism.

These protests have no where to go. Tea Partiers spent one golden hour with their Congresspeople and let them have it. Congresspeople have something to lose if people turn on them.
Will these protests have any leverage over Congress, Corporations? Hard to see it.

That, and no secret ballot ("Card Check") for union certification elections, and the right to keep collecting signatures (but difficult or impossible to recant) until they're over the top.

Now that the unions are involved.

Coz they'd get the crap kicked out of them? You don't fool with the Big Game, not even in Bezerkely.
