On shopping...think of all of the funky stuff you could find at Madison yard sales -- the clothes, signs, flags, noisemakers, etc. of a lifetime of protesting whatever.
Putting the wacko in Madison wacko.
Why thank you. Just what we did. Spent the night last night in a nice motel we like, drank scotch, used the hot tub, ate chinese in the room. Today: Went to Wal Mart and bought some more jeans and tee shirts for working in the yard and around the house. They were ON SALE. White Stag tee shirts for $3.00!!! Good quality fabric and fit great. Also some groceries and household supplies at great prices....Wal Mart ROCKS. Then to Lowes to buy some new motion lights for the driveway, shop building and back door. Looked at new dishwashers for next year.Yarn at JoAnnes so I can make some more chemo hats for my friend. And then to Costco and Winco for more bulk groceries, meat and to stock up on liquor.I LOVE corporate America!!! Thank you. Very much. Saw a few occupy protesters lamely waving signs and stuff in front of a regional bank, on Sunday!! looking like 1969 hippie rejects. Flipped them off as we drove bye.....and I WILL continue to ignore you until you get in my way and then you are not going to like our attention. Believe me.
The point of the protesting is just to have some fun. The city of Madison should schedule spring and fall "protests" every year. Everyone can get a regularly scheduled exhibition fix, and the city and its inmates might be a lot mellower the rest of the year.
What is this, the Basque contingent protesting Madrid?
Holy crap, I think Althouse just found a protest sign for the rest of us!
Oooo, dust Bunny, tough talk , going to run them down are you? If you love Corporate America so much, you'll really love Corporate run prison.
love you dust bunny! that was a funny post...for sure!
Yeah, go shopping, whatever, do what the Regime demands of you to further inflate the paper currency.Do my fellow Americanos realize how well they have it?Just now I was able to satisfy my desire for authentic Mexican enchiladas, having drunk too much Finlandia to fetch da real thang, by substituting these wonderful insta-bake Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls. You put them in the oven for a mere 13 minutes. Then you put the frosting on and... Voilà!-- fresh hot insta-baked cinnamon bunnies for your intoxicated enjoyment! They don't have this stuff in other countries, you know.God bless America. But still, you don't need to spend if you don't want to. Those telling you to are only soldiers of the Marxist Man...
(The Uncredentialed, Crypto Jew)Oooo, dust Bunny, tough talk , going to run them down are you? If you love Corporate America so much, you'll really love Corporate run prisonAw, Allie are you all upset about someone being “mean” to the silly, smelly hippies?
Accordions are awesome.
Joe, no I'm not at all upset, don't you know I'm really a right wing sock puppet?
If you love Corporate America so much, you'll really love Corporate run prisonActually, corporate run prisons are a good idea. Glad you agree.Eliminate the Prison Guard union and their obscene pension plans. Costs will come down and the prisons can be run in a much more effective manner and at less cost to the tax payer. Good idea!Next. Outsource the DMV offices. Janitorial services at all public buildings. More job positions available. More bang for the buck!Yay. Maybe even some jobs for the "dirty hippies". They can clean up after themselves.
It's sort of the Endless Sixties there.
Looks like a Project Runway outtake.
Lick it up, Dust Bunny. Lick. It. Up.The commenters on this blog speak of "dirty smelly hippies" even as they openly roll around in the corporate droppings. Fetid souls flock to comment here and throughout the Right blogosphere. But slowly, having gorged on faux Tea Party fare, the discourse absorbs and mainstreams the much needed dollops of anti-corporatocracy. At this rate, it may not be long before individual names of the people who actually run this country are exposed and published far and wide. it starts with the general monikers like "banker" and "corporate master," because that is what they are, too. But it is on the verge of these people coming to be seen in the public light for the vermin that they are. And that will be good for America. But by all means, keep licking. it. up.
At the MLK Jr. celebration, after the POTUS Obama spoke. I saw this sign:If you want to dream, then re-elect the President.[by Committee to Re-elect the POTUS]I also saw this sign:GOP does not understand diversity, jobs, and American values.
"But it is on the verge of these people coming to be seen in the public light for the vermin that they are. And that will be good for America."LOL . . . no seriously I fricken' laughed out loud.
(The Uncredentialed, Crypto Jew)Harrogate seems to be a little grumpy, too..”vermin”? Really what happened to the “new civility?” I can hardly wait until we discover these corporate baddies, with names like Immelt, Zuckerman, and all the folks from Solyndra and then the new green $1.2 Billion boondoggle...OH WAIT you mean REPUBLICANS, but they are few and far between on Wall Street.
Rick Santelli, the father of the Tea Party movement. Few and far between Republicans on Wall Street? OKY DOKY then.
I like the Running of the Badgers down the street. After all,its their Capitol.
Down with the currency manipulators who trash the value of the workers' hard-earned pay! George Soros comes to mind.
@harrogate--Comrade! Do not inform the bourgeois criminal class of the Party's plans for them. The reactionary forces must remain unaware of their fate until the revolutionary spark has been struck.
I went to the Occupy Dallas site, the new one. Walked around with no problem because I look somewhat like a 57-year-old ex-hippy (served me well in Crawford during Days of Cindy).Very mellow, nothing going on. Expensive tents. Nothing to photograph. I was afraid my "National Review" ballcap would cause problems, but I don't think anyone there knew what "National Review" is.Not a single hot babe, so I went to lunch uptown at Sfuzzi, with the capitalist slaves. If the shit hits the fan for capitalists and Jews, Dallas is the place to be.
Hey Tyrone, I have an offer you can refuse, go to the Cain thread to read about it.
I paid off my credit card debt this morning, so shopping didn't seem like the thing to do.Instead I ignored them and biked thru 50 miles of Texas sunshine.
@MAMessage received.Boycott J.
After seeing the comments by Apfelkuchen (posting as Mitochondri-Allie) and harrogate, both of whom use sickeningly familiar propaganda terms and techniques, it's no wonder that their movement now has the open, official support of the American Nazi and Communist parties. Racial Comrades: I am going to address the issue of this "Occupy Wall Street" fervor that has been sweeping the land like a breath of cleansing air!THE NATIVES ARE GETTING RESTLESS, AND ZOG FEARS IT MIGHT HAVE A POPULAR UPRISING ON ITS HANDS - finally! This issue is TAYLOR MADE for National Socialists, as well as WN who are serious about DOING SOMETHING - MORE - than shouting "racial slurs" and acting like "poster boys of hate" loons. After all - JUST WHO - are the WALL STREET BANKERS? The vast majority are JEWS - and the others are SPIRITUAL JEW materialists, who would sell their own mother's gold teeth for a PROFIT. And MORE and MORE people are AWARE of this truth, are not only NOT afraid to TALK ABOUT IT - they're shouting it on WALL STREET!I urgently URGE all of you to TAKE PART and JOIN IN when these protests hit your neck of the woods. Produce some flyers EXPLAINING the "JEW BANKER" influence - DON'T wear anything marking you as an "evil racist" - and GET OUT THERE and SPREAD the WORD! Put as a "contact point" on your literature, our www.ANP14.com address - it won't immediately "scare off" some of these scaredy-cats for even looking at our FACTS - for FACTS they ARE! We can also play a role in offering more advanced programmatic ideas like nationalizing the banks and socialism. To have a positive impact, the CPUSA and YCL must be a part of the “Occupy” movement, participating at every level and building greater local support for the actions among labor and progressive forces.
Come on. They look like students. And, every single one of their parents spent money on music lessons. It's just like Winston Churchill said: The young are blessed with good hearts. And, life hasn't turned them into cynics. Or, what's otherwise called "using their heads."It was a lovely day out!Ain't America great?
Joe said...(The Uncredentialed, Crypto Jew)Harrogate seems to be a little grumpy, too.I love it! Sounds like a line from a safari movie."I don't like it; the Lefties are grumpy tonight".
Lick it up, Dust Bunny. Lick. It. UpSuck it, Harrogate.Having been a 'real' dirty hippie in my day...and learned a few things about the puppet masters behind the movements, I....unlike you...don't take things at face value. "I" use my critical thinking skills and recognize who is pulling the strings and "I" refuse to dance to their tune.Want to be a "useful idiot"? Go right ahead. Dance away.Live and learn......if you can...learn that is.
Socky, you so remind me of someone who's initial I can no longer remember.
Besides that Socky, Althouse will soon tire of all this sock puppet talk again, just like last Sunday night and start deleting.
The wonderful photographs of protestors taken by Althouse and Meade over the past months have all left me with the same question: what do the protestors have in common that makes them all so angry and unattractive?Today, while shopping at a co-op and casually looking at what other shoppers had in their baskets, I realized the answer. Tofu.Indeed, how could it be otherwise? Can there be any reasonable doubt that every one of those angry, unattractive protestors has has eaten tofu, perhaps as recently as the meal before being photographed?Tofu makes people crazy. It destroys notions of grooming and style and, amen, even the ability to hold reasonable discourse with non-eaters of tofu.Tofu should be outlawed. It is Satan's pudding.
"Fetid souls flock to comment here and throughout the Right blogosphere."You're commenting here. How do you connect to the internet? Through... A CORPORATION?!!??Who owns Blogger? Google! Despite their politics, what are they? A CORPORATION!!!!1Did you build your own computer from base metals that you dug from the earth with your bare hands? No? Well then who built your computer? That's right, A WHOLE BUNCH OF CORPORATIONS!!!111OH NOES!You're licking. it. up! You little KKKorporate slave!
From apple pies to mitochondria... I dread to imagine the next devolution!
LICK. IT. UP!
Mito-Allie-You should try and get your Wall Street persona identified properly. Rick Santelli is a Chicago-based commentator on CNBC. AFAIK has never worked on Wall Street. If you meant "Wall Street" in some generic way, define your terms. Know any more supposed Republicans on Wall Street?
I eat steak done medium. Lots of meat, veggies , no sugar, no wheat, completely gluten free. Paleo, Primal all the way! And I'm a dirty hippie!
I didn't have my glasses on and looked at the picture before reading the post title. I read 'Ignore me. Go Shooting.'Personally I thought it was very enlightened.
Shouldn't these anti-corporate warriors be out demonstrating against corporate stooge Obama? Here are the Top 10 contributors to Obama's 2008 campaign:University of California $1,648,685Goldman Sachs $1,013,091Harvard University $878,164Microsoft Corp $852,167Google Inc $814,540JPMorgan Chase & Co $808,799Citigroup Inc $736,771Time Warner $624,618Sidley Austin LLP $600,298Stanford University $595,716Also, please recall that Obama rejected public financing for the campaign, choosing instead to whore himself out to the businesses listed above. And all those demonstrators will be voting Obama in 2012, won't they?Of course they will. Idiots.
I tried to taste tofu once, but I couldn't because it doesn't have any. Taste. I realized the folly of bean curd then, and I have never looked back
(The Uncredentialed, Crypto Jew)Well Mito, all I can say is that Wall Street gave OVERWHELMINGLY to Obama...you can trot out Santelli all you want.
"Today, while shopping at a co-op and casually looking at what other shoppers had in their baskets, I realized the answer. Tofu."Tofu is the natural result of Patchouli.
Mitochondri-Allie wrote... "And I'm a dirty hippie!"Duh.
Joe wrote:"OH WAIT you mean REPUBLICANS, but they are few and far between on Wall Street."andMaguro wrote:"And all those demonstrators will be voting Obama in 2012, won't they? Of course they will. Idiots."No matter how much such tools spout such drivel, it continues to be drivel, for multiple reasons. A primary reason being, no liberal or centrist in the United States is under any illusion as to the extent to whcih corporate power dominates the Democratic party. But still, what are we supposed to do, exactly? You look and you see the rhetoric and policies of the Republican Party, and it is all about moving faster to create even *more* de-regulation of Wall Street, even *lower* corporate taxes, even *more* breaks for the people who already own damn near everything. You do what you can with the choices put in front of you.
Some on this board have suggested that because we use computers and shop, etc., we shouldn't be running down corporate power. That it makes us "hypocrites," etc.But as usual you who say this miss the point. The point is that a single elite wealthy person (say, the CEO of Apple or Exxon or a Google shareholder) should not have a single iota more power over our public policy than any other registered voter. And yet it is the opposite. You bootlickers keep licking. it. up. though.
Bear, Lehman , Merrill, to name a few of the famous.
Practically speaking, there is not actually much we *can* do in the short term, or even in the medium run, about the problems that the OWS people are emphasizing. That is part of why so many in the media are looking so stupid, with their "where are the demands?" rhetoric. But simply revealing who is really running the country is valuable. Anyone who says it is not valuable to discover who runs the nation is a fool. Names. It ought to be known *who* is in charge here.
There is not actually much we *can* do in the short term, or even in the medium run, about the problems that the OWS people are emphasizing. You could always emigrate. I hear Cuba has a swell healthcare system.
Exactly right Harrogate.
"You could always emigrate. I hear Cuba has a swell healthcare system."Way to set the bar high, there, Maguro.
"Way to set the bar high, there, Maguro."Wasn't it Mike More set the bar high?If there were a Cuban Spring, an uprising against totalitarianism, which side would Mike Moore support?wv: lepoema. There's a girl from there.
"But simply revealing who is really running the country is valuable. Anyone who says it is not valuable to discover who runs the nation is a fool. Names. It ought to be known *who* is in charge here."The wily Jewish bankers should be identified! Maybe we could make them wear a button or patch or something...
"You do what you can with the choices put in front of you."You mean like taking a shit on a cop car, or doing interpretive dance in costume, or not bathing?
Been there, done that.(Daughters can be expensive.)
"The wily Jewish bankers should be identified! Maybe we could make them wear a button or patch or something..."It can only be the case that you are joking. Surely you are not this totally fucking stupid.
Shoes for homecoming dance.http://www.journeys.com/product.aspx?id=202625&g=girls&p=shoes&c=824&m=SM
"You mean like taking a shit on a cop car, or doing interpretive dance in costume, or not bathing?"No, I "mean like" doing a better job than **any** politician in recent memory--or any media figure our outlet in recent memory--at amplifying and deepning a conversation about the power brokers who are running this country. It is undeniable that stronger critiques of the individual CEOS, bankers, and hedge fund managers have become increasingly mainstreamed as a result of OWS. And they only just started a few weeks ago.
Under Herr Harrogate, Wall Straße vill be Judenrein!
Harrogate I work in the financial services industry, in investment banking. Not on the actual Wall Street but in Wall Street as it were. I have no idea what you are raving about. Do you?
Palladian. I believe you are right, i believe he is raving about Jewish bankers. In the year of our Lord 2011 this nitwit is raving against the Jews. Hahaha. I hope he has lost his money in the market.
(The Uncredentialed, Crypto Jew)Harrogate and MitoOWS v. the “Conservatives”You guyz are talking about “raising awareness” and “deepening consciousness” and “what you gonna do?”. Well how about:1)Voting out Rangel or any “Friends of Angelo” in your Party; and2)How about proposing a “program” so far we've gotten a 13 point manifesto...that's it.Conservatives/TEA Party have offered:1)The Ryan Roadmap2)Cut Cap and Balance3)Rand Paul's Budget4)Even Boehner has proposed reductions. We have done more than “raise awareness” I think someone took you people to task here last week about doing nothing....
(The Uncredentialed, Crypto Jew)It is undeniable that stronger critiques of the individual CEOS, bankers, and hedge fund managers have become increasingly mainstreamed as a result of OWS. And they only just started a few weeks agoWhat IS that “critique;” that they are “greed heads?” For smelly hippies, whose trust funds are managed by such greed heads this should prove interesting.
"Palladian. I believe you are right, i believe he is raving about Jewish bankers."Obviously I'm engaging in hyperbole, but I've seen enough from some of the OWS people (especially European ones) that seems uncomfortably close to how the Nazi movement gained momentum. It's an ancient tactic: exploit ill-educated people who feel "powerless" and who are of a relatively lower economic standing, then give them an enemy. In both the case of the Nazis and the OWS people, that enemy was and is bankers, capitalists and speculators. Envy is a very primal, powerful and poisonous force and it's the fuel (or the oxidizer) for the fire under many of the OWS people.A reciprocal question to "who runs the country?" should arise in the superior critical minds of young Harrogate and other sympathizers of the OWS "movement": who is pushing YOUR buttons? Who is running the OWS show? What are their aims and goals? A critical thinker doesn't take sides without examining all possible circumstances. How do you know that your free-floating, class-based, envy-powered emotional response, embodied in the OWS movement, isn't being exploited and channeled by people for other, less savory reasons?Hamas, the PLO and related entities successfully duped a lot of well-meaning leftists into becoming proxies in their religion and race-based war to eliminate the Jews. Various corrupt labor unions duped a lot of starry-eyed, earnest college students into spending months and months campaigning to keep their bloated paychecks safe from scrutiny. Medieval peasants were duped by corrupt clergy and power-clutching nobles and landowners into committing centuries of pogroms against the Jews of Europe. If we're to examine "Wall Street" and everyone perceived as a class enemy by the left, why don't we also examine exactly who is behind OWS, and what their true motivations might be?Call me a cynic, but I trust no one at their word. Your earnest, egalitarian rhetoric and your propensity to focus on nebulous enemies is a huge red flag that something sinister is probably going on behind the scenes.
Harrogate, save some bile for those who accept funds from the vermin. According to Maguro's list, Obama seemed willing to take their money, thus giving them undue influence. Is he one of the names you want to be known as a banker and corporate master? When are you going to call him out?
A primary reason being, no liberal or centrist in the United States is under any illusion as to the extent to whcih corporate power dominates the Democratic party.Wow. They sure fooled me.
Michael wrote:"Hahaha. I hope he has lost his money in the market."This statement says all that needs to be said about this commenter. It also is a pretty fair reflection of the attitude that has driven the nation's economy throughout the twenty-first century. To be honest, I am refreshed by Micahel's statement in the same way that I was refreshed that the people at the GOP debate who cried out "Yes" at the question of whether an uninsured sick person should be left to die. So much more honest than the spin that followed. As someone who likes honesty: thanks, Michael.
Palladian, based on your follow-up responses, I do take back the one thing I wrote. Clearly you really, really are that fucking stupid. Good to know.
That attitude will keep your masters happy, mein freund! Keep fighting the fight, whatever it might actually be!
Someone who'd write this...The point is that a single elite wealthy person (say, the CEO of Apple or Exxon or a Google shareholder)...is ill-advised to call Palladian, or pretty much anyone else who posts here, "fucking stupid." Owning a few shares of Google makes somebody a member of the "wealthy elite!" Oh, that's hilarious stuff. Is that an example of the much-needed, insightful dialogue that we're supposed to thank OWS for?
Harrogate seems to be a little grumpyCouldn't you detect the change in his writing style? He picked up Thesaurus. At Borders. While protesting Big Business. Thats self-loathing he's projecting.
Palladian: Call me a cynic, but I trust no one at their word. Your earnest, egalitarian rhetoric and your propensity to focus on nebulous enemies is a huge red flag that something sinister is probably going on behind the scenes.Damnit man. If I were gay I would court you. :)
Yep, them bosses sure need all the help they can get. You are all doing such a great service by them. Well done, bootlickers.Palladian begins a sentence with "that attitude...," thereby invalidating what comes next. Recognizing that water is wet really has nothing to do with attitude. If you think that OWS is motivated by anti-Semitism, you are fucking stupid. If you don't think it, but only like to say it anyway for whatever reason, then you are even stupider.
Yay! Harrogate devolves back into making unsupported assertions and appeals to conformity.Looks like a thesaurus will only go so far. Lipstick on a pig.
Fen: Seriously? Do you really think that dismissing the anti-Semitism charge as stupidity, counts as an "unsupported assertion?"Sigh.
"Damnit man. If I were gay I would court you. :)"You've no idea how many times that phrase has both excited and frustrated me in my life :)And dearest Harrogate, with his supremely powerful, super-folded brain, doesn't seem to recognize that I'm playing by the rules of her/his "logic" game. Generalization, stereotyping, guilt by association, delivered in-kind!
Harrogate: Do you really think that dismissing the anti-Semitism charge as stupidity, counts as an "unsupported assertion?"No. Thats an appeal to conformity. ie. "all smart people believe x"sighYes. Its not you. So it must be everyone else thats stupid. Yup, thats it.
"No. Thats an appeal to conformity. ie. 'all smart people believe x.'"The problem is your use of the word "believe." Reminds me of this conversation I had the other day, with a person who does not "believe" that anyone ever walked on the moon. (the same person, btw, turned out to be a "Birther".)
Harrogate. To be honest i am refreshed by your ignorance and antisemitism. I am enlightened by your total misunderstanding of capital. Thanks for playing and i do so hope you are broke and i dont have to worry about getting your money any more.
Harrogate: The problem is your use of the word "believe."Not my problem. You're the one using it. Do you even know what a logical fallacy is? There's a list on wiki. Look them up. Then avoid them.
Person 1: "Braves fans are anti-Semites"Person 2: "That's stupid."Person 1: "Can you support that assertion?"About as much evidence for one as there is for the other.
About as much evidence for one as there is for the other.Wrong again. We have evidence of OWS protestors bashing Jews. Several examples, in fact, ranging from placards to interviews.http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2011/10/israeli-media-worried-about-anti-semitic-nature-of-obama-endorsed-occupy-wall-street-movement/and "zionist Jews need to be run out of this country":http://www.thegatewaypundit.com/2011/10/obama-endorsed-occupy-la-protester-zionist-jews-need-to-be-run-out-of-this-country-video/
