At the No Boundaries Café...

... it's another glorious day.

(Photo by Meade, from yesterday's protest. We've got another protest to cover today. Enjoy this open thread.)

Lovely day in the Obama-Biden city. A lovely last night happy hour. The campaign is finishing extremely well and it is becoming clear each day that the re-election is a foot. The SNL last night was honest: GOP has no chance till 2016, if at all. As Thomas Friedman writes in the NYT today: Where is the vision in the GOP?

Come join us in the re-election of the greatest POTUS. You will have no regrets and you will be part of the WINNING team!

I see the leaves have turned (have you had a cold snap?) where you are. Some trees here have, but nowhere near enough.

The Blonde and I drove over to Sharon PA last week, which is usually her annual "leaf ride", but everything is still pretty much green, so she's a little disappointed.

Nice pic, BTW, love the colors.

Where I live NWS is forecasting 99 F on Wednesday, just when we were getting used to seasonable coolness. Our paltry few sycamores up in the hill valleys will change and be beautiful, somewhere around the end of November.

Alas, both Saturday Night Live and Tom Friedman have sussed us out! Drat!

It's so pretty and I'm ready for our leaves to change! There are a few changed leaves here and there but none of that gorgeous reddish color yet.

I'm also ready for this high 80/low 90's weather to go away. We had gorgeous 70's for a while and now it's hot again...

My bride is an elder in our local Presbyterian Church. Everyone..EVEN FOLKS WHO DON'T THINK GAYS SHOULD BE CLERGY, will say this is a good man and a great preacher.

Although I have a strong faith, I no longer belong to any church, this Westboro cabal is one of the reasons for that. Thanks to organized religion, more people have been killed in the name of The Lord, God, Allah, Yahweh, than have been saved in his name.

Yesterday was the 140th anniversary of the Great Chicago Fire, the result of a late heat wave, so a lot of places can still have very bad days ahead.

Are you in TX?

So Obama's re-election is "a foot", AP? Would that be his own foot in his mouth, or the nation's foot in his ass? Or did you mean "afoot"?

Magnifying the picture, those two women need to set some boundaries at the dinner table.

Couldn't read the signs completely. They look like a couple of middle class homies committed to radical change, until it interferes with their cable TV or cell phone service.

Southern California-- Riverside County.

edutcher said...

You have my sympathy. I thought the West Coast avoided the kind of heat the southern part of the country had.

Any city in America is an Obama-Biden City. Why you ask? It is simple: People support the POTUS and V-POTUS.

Today the economic leadership of the wonderful economic team is described by E. Klein, the founder of the world-famous Journ"o"list.

He will get pulitzer prize.

We suffer through ridiculous heat all summer-- we're usually the same as Las Vegas or Phoenix-- but our winter weather is glorious.

Tell Meade to be careful, he almost got himself arrested yesterday. ;-)

I wish I could agree (the stuff about the greatest president), AP. Of all the menu items to select from, what I will choose is the vice presidency. Of late our actual VPs and candidate VPs have been uncomplementary. They just didn't fit. Biden, Cheney, Palin. There's no OOMPH there.

I'm gonna say it, so brace yourselves. The last really inspired VP choice was of course, Gore, of Clinton-Gore.

We shall all dream on.

Obama the greatest POTUS?

Say, devoid of protestors Madison would look very nice.

blake said...

Nobody ever talks about the lives saved by "organized religion".

Wonder why that is.

Fred4Pres said...

How could anyone really think Obama is the greatest President? Was that a parody?

Carol_Herman said...

This picture would be prettier, if the two protesters had left the camera's range.

Tyrone Slothrop said...

Obama picked Joe Biden precisely because Biden is an idiot. Obama, the community organizer, state senator and short-timer US senator could not afford to be shown up in ability by his VP. George W. Bush, on the other hand, picked perhaps the most experienced, intelligent and effective person available. He wasn't worried about being shown up. Cheney for his part contributed greatly, and in my opinion for the better, to W's administration and to our country.

Madison is a test market for Big Protest.

wv: hanes. Big Underwear tests in Madison as well.

Fred4Pres said...

WBC is more akin to organized crime, but I doubt it makes that much money. It exists more to feed Fred Phelp's ego. It is not a religion but more of a cult.

Fred: Was that a parody?

For quite some time, Seven Machos has been arguing that AP is a conservative writing a parody of a liberal.

Atheists have no need for boundaries.

What me worry? They are lucky.

The day Israel wakes up with no boundaries, it will be a terrible day.

On December 6, 1941 the U S Navy had no worries either.

Obama and Phelps are both Democrats.

There is a unique protest culture in Madison. But not in similar cities like Austin...why is that?

I have no faith, which is why I don't belong to any church, but I know that the Westboro is no church, to use it as a reason not to belong to any church is stupid and perhaps organized religion is (in your mind) considered bad precisely because of people like you not being involved.

"Madison is a test market for Big Protest."

And so far Big Protest has given you broken civil service unions, GOP control of the state and the public humiliation of leftist judges.

Damn, maybe I should Occupy something...

Fred4Pres said...

I think Seven Machos is right about AP.

Fred4Pres said...

Organized religion is bad...blah, blah, blah. Same old clap trap. The problem is not religion but people. Human beings are very flawed, capable of great good and evil.

Fred FP, keep trying to connect the Phelps to Democrats, nice try, but you fail. They are MOBYS to Democrats as they are Mobys to Baptists and Christians in general.

Better weather and entertainment options.

The one on the left is holding a camera, a couple of signs, a cuppa coffee, AND a cigarette. Does she have to:

Stop walking, and
Unload all that stuff
Just to take a puff?

Fred4Pres said...

Well no fail in saying Phelps is a democrat because he is a democrat. But Garage is also correct. How about we agree that Phelps and Duke are both assholes.

garage mahal said...

Yea I think we can all agree with that Fred.

The leaves on my street were glorious on Thursday. Today they're mostly fallen, and people are raking.

I suppose there is beauty in the starkness of a bare tree, but it's hard for me to see it.

The beauty is that that it'll be back next year...not long after pitchers and catchers report.

HT said...

The beauty is that you now have a wider perspective, can see farther, and all that. When the spring infill comes, you have less to see.

is all you guys do in Wisconsin is walk around protesting?

No kidding. Does the city have no cultural offerings? Is there really so little to do that carrying signs is the city's most popular pastime?

We've all seen pictures on this blog from various Madison attractions. Maybe people should be handing out brochures about these places to protesters.

Fred4Pres said...

Actually Madison is a really nice little city and most of the people do not engage in stupid protests. But the few that do are really into it.
