Looking at that Crane, reminds me of Loons, which in turn reminds me of Carol H.

I wonder if Carol H has stick legs.

Reminds also of this:

Twilight and evening bell,
And after that the dark!
And may there be no sadness of farewell,
When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place
The flood may bear me far,
I hope to see my Pilot face to face
When I have crost the bar.

Still hot and sticky in DC. Can't wait for the moisture to get outta here. Great day at Nationals Park today. Perfect game Washington played. Old fashioned baseball. Weird not to be rooting for the Bravos. At any rate, Atlanta did not look like playoff contenders. What's more, they seemed to give up late in the game.

It's been years since I followed baseball. It has always seemed to me a thinking game. But with all the distractions at today's parks, I'm guessing they're not going to really cultivate the next generation of fans, who were busily checking their iPhones and blackberries anyway. So sad.

There should only be organ music at the park, and NO VIDEO SCREENS. At times the whole thing felt manufactured like the announcer and the typer of the video monitor were controlling the thousands of people.

But it's a pretty decent field and not a bad stadium. Not great, but not bad.

One of the problems with water is that it weighs so much. It would be better if it were dry. Then, when you wanted some, you could just add water to it, and drink it.

I hate carrying water bottles around.

I think we should find a way to make water dry so it would be as light as air. Why didn't YOU think of that?

I thought of it, but wouldn't know how to go about drying it out. Maybe there's a scientist or two here who can get to work on it, and you know, get a patent for dry water.

A lot of people insist on living in arid zones and deserts. They have to go from oasis to oasis. But if they had dry water, the whole oasis to oasis zigzag would be a thing of the past, like nomadism itself.

Hot and sticky here in Boston as well.

Lake Mendota is ugly and thinks it is pretty.

Now, I spent the day at the ocean in Newburyport, so beautiful.

Tits.

I think Kirby has been drinking something other than water.

I spent a couple of hours cleaning and restringing my number one acoustic guitar this weekend. I bought her ten years ago, and she was by far the least considered and least regretted musical purchase I've ever made; It wasn't a smart decision, but it was love at first sight. I had just wandered into the store to look, but I knew there and then that no one would ever love her the way I'd love her, so what could I do? She made it onto a couple of recordings made of the band I was in at the time, and a few since. She stayed back in England for a few years but finally came over to the States last year and had needed a good cleaning and re-setup. But I always think back to that heady time that I stopped by the music store. That was an odd summer, you know? I was kind of between worlds. Doing all sorts of temp jobs, the way you do when you're in college and it's summer, only I was done with college, just had no idea what else to do. Still, most days I was pretty connected to the world. Then one day, I had this one really odd job where I essentially sat in this secluded office all day and was just totally disconnected from the world. At about 4pm BST when I was about done, I hopped on a train, and was walking home from the station when I decided to stop by a friend's house. Deb opened the door with a look like she was a thousand miles away. What's going on, I asked. "You'd better come in," she said. "The world trade center just collapsed."

Funny thing how memories spiral.

Kirby...You are asking the right questions.

For a Federal Grant of a measly $100,000,000 I am proposing to build a prototype facility for drywater production.

The spin offs for Dryoil production are also patented. The Drybeer is proving harder in Wisconsin so far.

I just need some liquid private investors who have the vision thing and want to try out our Drybank accounts invention.

And every investor gets a night at God Father's Pizza and Herman Cain's dry autograph.

That cool.

But, going to the global treehouse symposium ain't bad either.

Anywho, I'd recommend this thing.

Great folks. Fun. Imagination, whimsy and dreams...made real.

Traditionalguy, thanks for the extended applications. I think Solyndra should switch over to Drywater. It's the kind of paradox that this regime loves: spend more money in order to save, tax more in order to get businesses to jump in the water, and speaking of water, drywater futures are the latest Wall Street craze.

No wonder those poor working poor kids were rioting. They must know something we don't know.

Don't leave me alone in the twilight
'Cause twilight is the loneliest time of day

Twilight

Over by the wildwood
Hot summer night
We lay in the tall grass
til the mornin' light

If I had my way I'd never
get the urge to roam
But a young man serves his country
and an old man guards the home

Don't send me no distant salutations
or silly souvenirs from far away
Don't leave me alone in the twilight
'Cause twilight is the loneliest time of day

I never gave a second thought
Never crossed my mind
What's right, what's not
I ain't the judgin' kind
I can take the darkest oh
Storms in the skies
But we all got certain trials
burnin' up inside

Don't put me in a frame upon the mantle
For memories turn dusty, old, and gray
Don't leave me alone in the twilight
'Cause twilight is the loneliest time of day

The design of this watch collection was inspired by the Japanese art of lacquer Tag Heuer Watch, including the masterpieces that are exposed at the Barbier-Mueller. how many pounds of makeup they slather all over their mugs. A dark and brooding skyscape. Very moody.

I can imagine the voyageurs of 4 centuries ago looking for a place to camp with that kind of weather coming.

Makes a chill run through you just looking at it.

But whether thus these things, or whether not;
But whether the sun, predominant in Heaven,
Rise on the earth; or earth rise on the sun;
He from the east his flaming road begin;
Or she from west her silent course advance,
With inoffensive pace that spinning sleeps
On her soft axle, while she paces even,
And bears thee soft with the smooth hair along

Ann, will we get a review of Suskind's book from you?

Here is a quote from another blogger summary (1 of 6 points she makes):
He has an “Oh, wow, I’m president! Somebody pinch me.” attitude about his presidency. It must be heady stuff. He has reached his final goal. And he attributes it in large part to what he is, Barack Obama, the first African American president and son of a dude from Kenya. That right there will be his passport to success. Anything is possible because he is a vessel for the hopes and dreams of so many. Follow through? What about it? Isn’t that what staff are for?

Tomorrows big bake sale:

"Campus Republicans at the University of California Berkeley are stirring up controversy with their plans for a “diversity bake sale” - with the idea being that prices are determined by race and sex.

The sale, scheduled for Tuesday, determines prices for the baked goods as follows: white men can purchase them for $2.00, Asian men for $1.50, Latino men for $1.00, black men for $0.75 and Native American men for $0.25. All women will get $0.25 off of these prices."

See this is what Obama said at a fundraiser:

"You've got audiences cheering at the prospect of somebody dying because they don’t have healthcare and booing a service member in Iraq because they're gay.

"That's not reflective of who we are," Obama said.

How easy is it to have a couple of Obot plants there? It is right up his alley and his supporters to do something like that.

That's because that's not what happened except in the collective way of thinking.

According to people who were there there was one boo and the rest of the noise was the crowd disapproving the boo-er.

Obama is campaigning instead of being POTUS. And campaigning evilly. He continuously tries to set us against each other.

He make me miss Jimmy Carter.

And if I were black and attended the Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Dinner I would be pissed at being talked "at" the way Obama spoke to them.
