What in carnation are those flowers?

Is this some souped-up hybrid of Echinacea?

Hello! Puffy!! Red!!11!!!

@Irene, nope, zinnas.

Skyler said...

I like the changes, but Ann's portrait needs a better resolution. It is highly pixelated now and it loses its stunning effect.

BJM said...

Um...make that zinnias.

I'm red, I'm puffy, and I'm proud!

I like that yellow cone flower, the non-conformist.

Irene said...

Thanks, BJM. That's unlike any Zinnia that I've seen. Kind of garish.

My all time favorite Althouse avatar was the one that looked like a comic book animation. It wasn't up for long, around the end of 2008 or so IIRC.

It should be very proud. Tweaking interfaces without a usability group is a little like trapeze without a net and, given the temperamental nature of the Althouse commentariat, deserves a little more consideration and applause for trying to make a good product better.

Hey, Althousians, I was thinking of getting an iPad to surf the wek b/c my virus problems on my PC. I like my PC and don't want to spend a grand on a Mac, so that seems like a good solution.
what do you all think?

I heard it said, (by a comedian, so there's that) if you move one single thing in an aquarium then the fish think they're in an entirely new environment. (comedian goes, "Hey, where am I? How'd I get here?") But honestly, how would anyone know what a fish is thinking?

Hostess, your tweeks are nice. Here, have yourself some guacamole saved from last night.

According to my son, goldfish have about a 2 second memory span. New environment every 2 seconds.

from flowers to fish .. (note to diary) ..

.. shared cerebellum-istically .. we land-fish .. may know more fish tales .. than they who swim in schools .. though lacking Aristotle .. they move-schooled in more deeply evolved waters .. comedic, though dolphins are, not fish .. who most intelligently, may know more than we, what puffy red or orange ruffys think?

Professor;
I'm glad you went back to a different color for your headlines.

Phil 314 said...

And I'm taking your blog with you. A lot of people come here for my comments, not yours. You're predictable and boring.

For the past several years, I've made your blog an exciting place for intelligent debate. But I dislike where this blog has gone as you've commercialized it for your own enrichment. It used to be a place where discussion happened. Now it's a bunch of links to products with throwaway timed posts in between.

So, I leave it to you and GarageMahal to masturbate to each other.

Enjoy your circle jerk.

And good luck getting Barack Obama re-elected.

Posted this just as reminder for me and ?maybe others about humility.

Interesting that nevadabob says he's been here for years, even though nevadabob is a fairly new moniker. I guess that's a confession he's the same loser that's been trolling as New Ham, Florida, etc. Hey, nevadabob, before you go, please be sure to leave your forwarding information, you know, for the libel suit you were talking about awhile back.

Very nice! Keep it up.

NB: Had a great brunch at the Bombay Club, across the Oval Room near the WH, with many K-street consultants. We are now suggesting that the defeat of GOP will be by at least 20 points. Next weekend, we brunch at Zaytinya. Hope to see some of you there. 12 PM - High Noon - will be good.

Get the IPad, PatCA. You won't regret it. Clean and fast.

Toad Trend said...

@America's Politico

Brunched at Bombay last week. My K-street insiders were talking about the shocking import of 'Depends' that dem lackeys were sitting on as a result of the latest polling data. See you at Zaytinya next weekend. BTW, try the Cilbir, it is to die for.

wv - punative.

Yes.

By God, I think I've done it. Maybe. Commenting looks like it used to before the big tweak.

Clap on!

Clap off!

AllenS said...

I did tools - internet options - found the place where the cookies are, and wiped them out, with a control a. That's holding down the control button and hitting the letter a. Commenting looks just like it did before and there is no choosing from the 6 drop down options.

Chip S. said...

I made it rain today by washing my car.

AllenS said...

I just scrolled down and found out that The Althouse Woman restored commenting like it used to be. I guess I'm not that smart after all. Course, you knew that, didn't you.

JAL said...

So somebody left?

Mmmm.

Chip S. said...

Allan, Welcome to the matrix.

JAL said...

It did take me more than 6 attempts (I can only count the wv s I had to redo up to a point) to post earlier today.

Thanks.

JAL said...

Skyler's right about your avatar/pix Professor.

You might consider an edit, up the pixels, get a sharper one ...

Speaking of Skyler -- where are you fellow? In A'stan or the States? Can you say?

AllenS said...

Matrix? I think I've fallen back into the vortex.

Give the lady credit for trying to make things a little better.

Netflix streaming is down. I finally figured this out after messing with it for half an hour.

I want to finish The Wages of Fear. We were supposed to watch the second half tonight.

Freeman Hunt said...

Now I can't even come back to this thread until we watch it because I'm afraid someone will tell me what happens.

Penny said...

Course... if I suggested that my cowboy got all "relative"?

Might I call on you to ensure that not ONE relative would help that cowboy escape?

Penny said...

READ up, then worry.

To my mind?

Althouse has a mess on her hands.

Penny said...

Leader?

I might just be the very best.

Penny said...

"Give the lady credit for trying to make things a little better."

I can abide her ego.

Let's see. ONE more?

Wages of Fear-- such a great nail-biter. Won't say another word.

I call you, "friend".

Like AllenS, I was worried I did something to screw up access to this blog. Maybe getting banned for poor grammar.

Or too many incomplete sentences.

Whew, it's good to be back again.

Great catch! and a fabulous name!!

I thought it was Zinnia Zahare Bonfire that I grew a couple of season ago; they were triple-flowered and very similar.

Looks like Casey Anthony has her own reality show now: The Fugitive. The media are slavering around, trying to get a whiff of her scent, and frustrated that she apparently made a clean getaway in the wee hours of Sunday morning. If she's smart, she'll listen to her advisors and lay low for a long time. She's the most hated person in the country right now and probably the second-most infamous, behind only the "Brooklyn Butcher" Levi Aron, who murdered the little boy last week -- no weasel words, he did it, they found part of the body at his apartment in the fridge and he told them where to find the rest. Aron, however, will never again walk the streets a free man. Casey is free, in a land where a goodly portion of the citizenry despises her at best.

How bad is it? Well, last week (while Casey was still cooling her heels in jail), a woman in Oklahoma was attacked by another woman who thought that she was Casey Anthony. The woman ran her vehicle into the victim's truck when she got off work at the gas station/convenience store she owns. Her truck flipped over twice. She said that the cops told her that the woman was muttering that she was a baby-killer and deserved to die. And this was a woman who only resembled Anthony, at a time when any intelligent person knew that Anthony was still in jail.

Free advice to any other Casey Anthony lookalikes out there: Change your look. Don't be a victim of the other psychos out there.
