Who is Althouse? * View only LAW posts * Contribute * Shop AMAZON*
Very Mega.-XCPS - I have always wanted to say that.
I want a video of Prof. Althouse commenting on one of the comments on her blog.
And happy Mothers' Day.
There are too many wives trying to stop their husbands from reading Althouse.
My ex-wife hated when I read Althouse. She always said, "You're in love with that woman!" No, I was never in love with Althouse, but my wife was terribly jealous of the brain.
There are too many wives trying to stop their husbands from reading Althouse.Specifically, and being on line in general.
My wife does not care about me reading Althouse. She just wants me to take out the trash and do her Honey Do lists. Or as she says, it is nothing personal, it is just business.
Althouse Hillbillies' wives are the worst. They just nag and nag trying to roust their husbands from Ann's porch. But these slobs are content to get the little red meat that she tosses out every day or so.Some people are borned to be played.
It is funny how Ann makes fun of her Hillbillies in posts like this one but they still comeback for more.
There are too many wives trying to stop their husbands from reading Althouse.Yeah, and from the evidence presented here, you're trying to help them.
Crack, I only stop by now and then to read this blog to see how much crap she can make her shit-lovin' Hillbillies choke down. It is hilarious! Now go buy something expensive on Amazon using her portal!
@Jay RetreadSome people are borned to be played.Irony challenged are we?
She just wants a little.Ann Althouse said...There are too many wives trying to stop their husbands from reading Althouse. That's because you're Theodosia, Cleopatra, Catherine The Great, and Portia all rolled into one.You fascinate and seduce with just a few words.
Imagine if a man was trying to tell his wife what she could read or listen to.Imagine the outrage. In any case, it's just weird to me that people don't just skip the arguments they aren't interested in having. I don't think I read or commented on that post since I find the argument over who Althouse should have voted for excessively boring. McCain was a lousy candidate.
I actually read the coments in reverse order from last to the middle. Apparently Meade pissed a lot of people off when he said he may vote for Obama because Obama finally did one thing he campaigned on! Let's be clear about Obama - he did not lie in his campaign but he was just about 100% wrong on the positions he took during the campaign [ie. close Gitmo, etc]. THINK ABOUT THAT - HE WAS ALMOST 100% WRONG. THAT IS HARD TO DO - ASK ANY GAMBLER. And that , to me, is the problem with Obama - he lacks good experience and lacks good instincts about how things work and how things should be fixed.I don't care who Meadhouse votes for and am just pointing out what they can't see.
And Jay Retread is the other half of the set.I don't understand leaving a blog because of disagreement with the hostess.Jay assumes that anyone who stays agrees with the hostess. It's the application of the exact same principle. And it is simplistic and stupid.
"It is funny how Ann makes fun of her Hillbillies in posts like this one but they still comeback for more."It's funny how Jay Retread makes fun of this blog and then immediately "comesback" with another comment.Meta!
Ann, just getting some cheap kicks!
That "I've been trying to convince my husband..." quote has a 1950s-1960s phoney TV commercial testimonial sound to it, doesn't it?My husband... (press the "Napalmolive" sound clip #11 at link).
Synova, I don't want the Hillbillies to leave Ann's porch! I like them there. It keeps them out of traffic.
"Imagine if a man was trying to tell his wife what she could read or listen to."Why only imagine it? Men, give it a try: Dominate your wife. Tell her what to read, what to listen to... what you're going to do with her and how you will have your way with her. Think about it - you just might be surprised at how much she longs to have you do the thinking for the two of you.
Ann, hillbilly rebellion!(Meade, be careful or Ann will kick you back to the porch.)
Oh, well, time for a "hillbilly" (WTF?) and infrequent commenter to tell why he reads this blog. I find it fascinating that it has divergent viewpoints posted. Even mine. "Lawdy," to keep the "hillbilly" meme, recently it was suggested I was "race bating" ... something that anyone who knows me knows is highly unlikely. No problem, maybe I sounded like I was. You can learn things if you listen. I find it comforting that the hostess does not seem trapped in singular dogma. I enjoy the comments although I probably disagree with part or all of a fair number of them. On the other hand I find myself learning something from many commenters I'd not have guessed could teach me anything. Like I said, I may be stubborn, but not deaf ... listening may be my only virtue? Or maybe I'm just transferring my affection for my better half to Ann because she reminds me of my own ... one rather independent minded woman if there ever was one ... and one I can find no cause for criticism ... after 30+ years.
I don't have a wife, so when I quit reading it'll be of my own volition or death. In the comments of the referred post, Meade said "National security was the overwhelmingly most important issue in 2004 and 2008." According to this CNN poll on Nov. 1, 2008, the economy was the most important issue for 57% of respondents. No other issue got more than 13% for most important. It's a common mistake to think that others see and believe things the same as one's self. Better to find out that's actually true rather than assume it is.Also, if it's about national security/feeling safer, Obama failed there in killing UBL. six in 10 Americans said that killing Bin Laden was likely to increase the threat of terrorism against the United States in the short term. A large majority also said that the Qaeda leader’s death did not make them feel any safer.Although fully employed at above the national average income, I know my concerns have been much greater concerning the economy and personal freedom than national security or terrorism.
My hot Indian UK husband does not know I read Althouse.Am I being deceitful or cheating on him because he doesn't know about the other woman in my life?
You have more than one woman?
edutcher said: "That's because you're Theodosia, Cleopatra, Catherine The Great, and Portia all rolled into one."Best keep her away from the horses then.
Loved the Land O Lakes tits youtube by the way. Genius.
I buy it for the pictures.
My husband doesn't care at all.As long as I don't talk about it...
I introduced my husband to the Althouse blog.wv: miash
I suspect that the kind of "man" who only reads Althouse because he agrees with what she writes, is also the kind of guy who lets his wife push him around.
I don't think anybody was really mad at Meade because of one line in a post about what he "might do."But it is good fodder for comments.
Slang: the grunt of the human hog. (Bierce)There's a limit to the amount of Grunting a reasonable person, even a wifey, can stand. And as the linked thread demonstrates, Grunthouse tends to be an ugly nasty place.
Let's call that post, "How Meade Lost Me".
I am sure my future ex-wife (whoever she might be) hates this blog as well!!!!
J, like the Jeremys, shilohs, and Alphas, thinks it's nasty, but he keeps coming back (or just switched over from his account as Jay Retread).Must be because he enjoys being bitch slapped so much.
Trooper York, you are my favorite Althouse Hillbilly.(Actually not. You are sort of boring.)
This would be the "How Althouse lost me" post, per Palladian. And I must admit: It was pretty hard to take. After Althouse made her first few defenses of her vote, after Obama won, I was won over to her argument, to a certain very limited extent: Making the liberals own their inevitably disastrous liberal policies, rather than allowing liberal McCain to taint the Republicans with the stench of failure, does make sense.Just so long as those liberal policies aren't too disastrous. So when it looked like Obama wasn't going to be able to launch any of his economy-killing torpedoes (cap-and-tax, card check, Obamacare) I thought she was probably right -- she'd made a shrewd choice. But then Obamacare passed. And we will never, ever be rid of elements of it; and this, coupled with spendulus 1, spendulus 2, and "qualitative easing" will end up breaking us. And he still might find a way to back-door cap-and-tax and card check without even passing them, without any of the negative political fallout from expending political capital.Spending is to the point now that it can no longer be controlled -- Old Charlie stole the handle, and the train, it won't stop going, no way to slow down. (Insert wailing flute solo here.) Soon just the interest on the debt will exceed revenue. So triumphalism on the part of Althouse, coupled with the apparent loss of the usually solid Meade, in what appears to be preparation for the "How Obama won me over for a second term" post -- it's just about more than I could take. The comments on this blog, I thought, were a conversation; and it seems as though it's been a one-way conversation all this time. When you put up that "How Obama won me in 2012" post up, scratch one Althouse hillbilly.
Someone made an astute pont when the commented that a tenured law prof working in a far left bubbletown may be blind to the economic doldrums and bleak outlook of most Americans for our financial future. I have noticed Althouse raraely comments on econ/ financial news so that stuff maybe doesn't hold her interest and hence she is uninformed in some ways.
THISS WEBSIGHT HAS CONVINED ME THAT SPENDING ON DEMOCRAT VOTERS IS GOING TO KIL US ALL! THAKNS!
Hey Jay thanks for the shout out. I refer you to Feech La Mana.
Here's the long form.

Why would you think she would have any interest in the economy? And of course Ann is going to vote for Obama. Do you really think she is going to support hillbilly Palin/Trump/Bachman/Daniels, etc., etc.? I don't think so!
Ray Retread: Are you an hourly worker? Making $160K for "barely working" is a good thing and should stimulate a lot of thinking about how to make more. The calculation might be that the limitation on income is worth it because of the leisure it affords the person earning the $160K You are looking at it the wrong way. If you want to focus criticism focus it on the Professor not engaging in other money making ventures that are obvious to you. She might well be focused to the degree that the $160K multiplies annually.Envy is bad for the heart.

And, if we see another market crash coming on the heels of 10% inflation, Ann would be as affected as anyone. As for her vote, I notice the trolls are desperate in their FUD. Even they see Little Zero will not be saved by DevGru and the Nightstalkers.
Edutcher:What's FUD mean?
"And of course Ann is going to vote for Obama. Do you really think she is going to support hillbilly Palin/Trump/Bachman/Daniels, etc., etc.? I don't think so!"She'll vote the way I tell her to vote.
12:40--an AA hillbilly such as you, Eduski is too stupid for chess (ie rational debate/discussion), and doesn't know when it's been checkmated, repeatedly. Ergo, some tire of playing chess--even the basic sort with people-- with humanoids who don't know how the pieces move. Now, bark like a seal Edu & Co
This reminds me, I made this prediction on July 21, 2009 in the Althouse comment section "Here is my prediction. Althouse spends the next three years dropping hints about how she is disenchanted with president Obama so that she can keep the adulation of all of her right wing posters (I would guess at most a dozen people) that she so weirdly craves and then announces right before the election that she will vote again for President Obama but with reservations."my predictionGo Ann Go!Keep the Hillbillies runnin'! Yea Haaa!
Here is my prediction:Althouse will post to her blog and not miss a day again for the next 8 years or so.And she will vote in 2012.
My prediction is the eighth comment down.
@AJ Lynch: FUD == Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt
AJ Lynch said...Edutcher:What's FUD mean?Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. In the computer biz, Microsoft sometimes ran FUD campaigns trying to wean people of Linux/UNIX and/or Apple.PS J's too dense (and too bigoted) to realize most of us read Ann all during the campaign, whether we agreed with her or not, because we can appreciate a woman for her intellect, something guys like J actually fear.
The AA hillbillies are a bit sedate on weekends--they don't do meth on the Lawd's day, usually. Now, you little lib-tard pinkos, don't be bringin' up that collectivist-marxist claptrap, or tharll be a can of whupass on ya
Lewsar:Thanks for the definition. But even libs should not any doubt re Obama's poor prospects for re-election. Obama has made almost everything worse - it's like he is trying to do that. Plus he lacks the vision thing IMO and is a doctrinaire librul like our own Garbage Mahal.
Invent some mo' shit, Edu. you sound like a mormon snitchWhen ah locate you and break your hands you won't be writing ever again, trash. Some dissenters you mistake for PC lib-rawls, ain't, puto .
Jay Retard thinks that Trooper is a boring hillbilly. I guess he missed the ironic distancing lesson at lefty dumbass school. It's a close call, but Jay just might be more boring than Ratmo.
Seriously AJ, everybody knows who Fudd is!You Phillies fans!
you watch yrself GOP-tard or we'll be layin a can of whupass on ya.
Gosh, remember when sockpuppets were nifty and clever--back in the Clinton Administration. And Doogie Houser and Madonna?
J must think he really impresses people with that nonsense.(and I'll bet he thinks I'm kidding about The Blonde and Special Forces)
I'm thinking of listing my favorite blogs in my Match.com profile. Love me, love my blogs.
Trooper:Good one. 500 years from now, people will still be laughing at Loony Tunes cartoons!
Jay Retread: Ann, just getting some cheap kicks!Loser.
Ann Althouse said... There are too many wives trying to stop their husbands from reading Althouse. Are you kidding me? Are you so full of yourself that you could possibly believe that it is because of jealousy? Good Lord, get a grip. You aren't all that, you know.Ever think that it may be because your ideas and opinions are just so much horse shit? Instead of endlessly trying to justify your decision to vote for a feckless fool, you should be apologizing to this country for that vote. The SOB has spent the last 2 years trying to "fundamentally transform America", and not in any way has that been a good thing. Now, with one decision, that any president in office would have made, you think that justifies voting for him, again, because it in some way proves he's got foreign policy chops? Are you for real? Is Meade for real? Both of you are delusional, if that's what you believe. Both of you would be extremely easy marks for any half-ass con artist.Evidently, it doesn't take critical thinking skills to be a law professor, and it seems living with one removes any you may have had.
And Stephanie is why I don't read these threads, normally, and didn't read the original one. WTF?Do people really get that uncomfortable by being in disagreement with someone else? Hell, maybe everyone is looking for a Fearless Leader after all. It would explain why they get all snitty about someone having feet of clay. The point of the feet-of-clay fable isn't the failure of the monument, but the folly of *having* one. Also, ad hominem isn't name calling, it's attacking the person. It's every time someone brings up what Althouse supposedly makes or what she does in her job, which applies to nothing but is an attempt to attack the person rather than respond to an argument. It's repulsive. Also, if someone wants to talk about economics, David Friedman has a blog. Look it up.
Synova, Fen, Edutcher, Trooper, et al ...Sometimes it's just one of those days ... as the old Boy Scout motto sez: "Be Prepared" for visitors who can't listen & just think about their next aspersion to cast.
Spending is to the point now that it can no longer be controlled In the long run, would we be that much better off if McCain had won and Congress went even more Democratic in 2010? Could McCain do better than Reagan at controlling Dem spending? Would a conservative then have a chance in 2012? The Spendulii were terrible, but it's existing entitlements that will bankrupt the govt. Obamacare merely speeds things up.
What is with this "hillbilly" name calling? I don't think a lot of people here are actual hillbillies, and even if they were, what's wrong with hillbillies? Geesh, what a pompous retread.
I have to admit I did not much like the comment myself. But I can't stop myself from reading the blog. My husband thinks blogs are a waste of time and if he had his way I would not be on line so much. So I guess it is not only wives trying to stop husbands from Althouse. Works the other way too.
She better watch out. Keep up that nagging, and he could end up married to Althouse!
She'll vote the way I tell her to vote.LOLRight...... after you get done weeding the garden, cooking pancakes and making pizza on the grill, you will tell Althouse what to think and how to vote.PS. I know sarcasm when I hear it :-D vw: pazories. not sure what they are but is sounds like a tasty Italian dish.
Stephanie's been telling her husband to stop reading the Althouse blog.
Freeman, and I told my husband to read Althouse's blog....wv: killaij
What is with this "hillbilly" name calling? Its PC racism. By "hillbilly", Jay Retreat means poor white toothless redneck trash living in double-wides fucking their sisters. He's a little racist bitch that would have found solace with the KKK in another time.Although its hard for me to despise someone so pathetic. Jay Retread deserves your sympathy, not your hate. He's lost. Trolling Althouse and launching racist diatribes is the highlight of his life these days.
"Oh yeah well tell her to vote for the Pumpkinhead Randy Travis kid this week."But Troop, she loves the high-functioning rocker, James. Wants to give him a hug. And besides, I hear the pumpkin-headed kid has it all sewn up.
Vote for Obama because he took down OBL?What about the economy, the debt, open borders, cap and trade which can destroy this country faster than 10 Bin Ladens?More comments like this and I'll leave too.
Who was the originator of the Althouse Hillibillies name? I am gonna say I.E. Lee who has commented here usin a series of user names. I think Palladian usually figures it out somehow. Is Jay Retread also I.E. Lee?
3:48.STFU, Edu- byatch. That impress you, mormon snitch? you don't know f*ck about politics
How will Althouse endure the punishment of those who can't stand their disagreements with her leaving?wv: subseut: Variant pronunciation of subset resulting from one's being pinched on the behind.
Based on this thread, Althouse should come with sedatives.
Uh oh Mama Hunt, official libertarian papist snitch-gal.Best be mindin' yr manners, or she might sic her padre on us. cath-o-likc grrrls
I always find if funny that Althousians are referred to has "hillbillies." I've always associated the word with Appalachia where I've lived all my life, and we have a lot bigger "hills" than Wisconsin. Plus, none of you'ns speak right.
"Jay Retread" is just the latest sockpuppet of "L. E. Lee". There have been many others as well.
Well, for the past 14 months, I have been leaving this blog in a huff every hour or so.Absences like mine are, as Trooper notes, unnoticed and likely even salubrious for the blog, like lowering its cholesterol, or flossing its teeth.
They told me if, hypothetically, I time traveled back to 2008 and, hypothetically, voted for Barack Obama, Althouse readers would leave in a snit, a huff, or even a flounce and, hypothetically, THEY WERE RIGHT!!!
When guys leave in a flounce, it seems unmanly.NTTAWWT. But don't ever leave in a plaid flounce, because they're just hideous.
Uh oh Mama Hunt, official libertarian papist snitch-gal.I get the origins of the rest, but where does the snitch part come from?
You Just slip out the back, JackMake a new plan, StanYou don't need to be coy, RoyJust get yourself freeHop on the bus, GusYou don't need to discuss muchJust drop off the key, LeeAnd get yourself free
They have papists in Arkansas? I read somewhere that NC was 98% Protestant in 1900.
Althouse Hillbillies = Lazy, mentally impoverished conservative posters to this blog.
Don't be a pussy Jay. Own your racism.
Just shy of four percent of Arkansans are Catholic as of 2005.
