Mr. "Fawks News" looks more like Michael Jackson!

Another really lovely day in Madison! While this time I miss the big, big, big Blue Puppet.

And, what happened to that guy who went through all that trouble to make the choo-choo train extention rising up out of his midsection?

They can't find parking to join this small crowd?

Is it necessary to drop the hint tht Guy Fawkes intended to blow up Parliament? In London, for those who need more information, and haven't Googled.

I guess "civility" is how you view Guy Fawkes, huh?

Carol_Herman said...

Oh, I meant the generalized "you." Please don't take this one personally!

I couldn't help but notice that the anti-war protest signs all avoid the word "Obama". I also think it's appropriate that they're going with a mostly black and white color scheme for the new generic theme.

The Fawkes guy sort of looks like Obama without the ears.

Man, these people have bugs up their asses about Fox News.

Anonymous said...

Finally, they're protesting the right guy - the war criminal Barack Hussein Obama.

US OUT OF LIBYA!

Scott Walker isn't killing brown people. Barack Obama is.

I'm heartened to see a non-mud flat grassy region in the one picture.

"Man, these people have bugs up their asses about Fox News."

To the point that George Soros' organization - Media Matters - has announced it will begin a campaign of "guerilla warfare and sabotage" against Fox News.

Media Matters is compiling "opposition research" on everyone who appears on Fox with an eye toward destroying anybody who even shows up being interviewed.

The US Civil War has begun - with the Socialist Rebels receiving funding from foreigners such as Soros and others. We are in the "battlefield preparations" stage of the Civil War.

I give up. What does Guy Fawkes have to do with politics in America?? Fawkes tried to kill the members of Parliament in a Terrorist Bombing. So what is the message here??

Heh. It is funny to see signs about Fox News at so many protests. There are other channels one could watch... if one likes news on the TV.

Unknown said...

Uh, what happened to Fawkes again?

They may want to re-think that sign.

vnjagvet said...

Changing the channel is not enough for the devotees of MediaMatters, Freeman. They simply don't want anyone interfering with their approved narrative.

Isn't there a law against intentionally damaging someone's business?

You beat me to it, Bushman! Mind you, people around the world aren't as skittish.

Obama = Muerte/Death

Who needs FOXNEWS when we have MEADE?

rhhardin said...

The Fox radio news I hear takes a lefty narrative line, if anything.

vbspurs said...

Rh, how so? My local Fox News radio (610 AM) is dependably righty. [As we speak, The Jesus Christ Show is on]

In V they watched a different Fawkes. One like those gentle civilized demonstrators at Trafalgar Square

Emil Blatz said...

That is the quintessential ugly mob, isn't it?

BadgersForWalker said...

Guy Fawkes is really overdone at protests. I don't know if people think they're being original or what. Also, I wonder if these protestors know that Fawkes was working with the Spanish to install a Catholic theocracy in England.

Mary Beth said...

When I see Fawks on signs I think they are trying to imply a connection with Anonymous.

Mary Beth said...

Correction, Fawkes. Left out an "e".

The protests become less and less connected to reality. Democracy requires a certain amount of objectivity on the part if the voters. Athens destroyed itself with the recall of Alcibiades from the Sicilian expedition. WE will see of we have learned anything since.

DADvocate said...

Why are they protesting the war at the state capitol building? Isn't there a federal building of some sort in town? A recruiting office? Or, a Democratic Part office (since it is our good Democratic president expanding war)?

As they say in real estate, location, location, location?

vbspurs said...

Correction, Fawkes. Left out an "e".

You're not the only one, Mary Beth. So did the sign-maker.

Which begs the question: shouldn't a snarky person make sure he doesn't commit any errors, lest someone else snarkily point them out?

If you think the signs avoid Obama's name, you should read the posts at the lefty group academic blog "Crooked Timber." Close to 400 comments on 2 separate posts about Libya and no Obama--all "theory & practice" dontcha know. LOL (One of Ann's faculty compatriots--Harry Brighouse, Depts of Philosophy and Education Policy Studies--is part of the group.) Of course they never hesitated to toss Bush references around every third sentence when the subject of Iraq/Iran came up, needless to say..

Ah but he wears a happy mask. I've always thought that appealed to the DU crowd who were all using the mask as their avatar - "if we embrace violence with a happy clown face, its not violence-violence" or somesuch nonsense.

I'm still trying to figure out how Guy Fawkes and Fox News relate to each other. Maybe the protestor stumbled upon the word "faux" all by himself and thought it would be clever... even though it makes no sense.

Fen said...

Maybe he thinks FOX is going to blow up Parliament?

I blame the Wisconsin Teachers. If they spent less time on the street and more time in the classroom...

Day late and a dollar short on this message...but as I sent to Althouse already...

The Guy Fawkes masks are used by a group called Anonymous (Anon). They are an infamous group of internet "citizens" who have hacked major corporations and the us government. They were most recently in the news for shutting down websites that withdrew support from wikileaks.

Why no down with War President Obama signs?

Oh, I forgot it is a kinetic action.

Sigivald said...

Nice to see they're consistent, at least.

One wonders if any warfare is ever justified, for those people.

Would they have supported stopping the Rape of Nanking? How about the Holocaust?

"War it Terror!", "War is Hell!" Well, there's some truth in that, true. But some "peace" is also hell and terror - and it sure might be nice if the people chanting and holding signs for the media in their happy little places showed any possible awareness of that.

If these bastards ever complained about the US doing nothing to stop the Rwandan Genocide, or not intervening in the Sudan, they should just go bugger off forever.

Fawkes being drawn (and quartered? teehee) into the protest is nothing political or historic. Odds are they think Guy Fawkes is a fictional fabrication from the comic book and movie. No, he was brought in because the protesters realized their puns and euphemisms were becoming stale. "Tear down this Wall-ker"? That's stretching it. At least Fox/Fawkes rhyme. They'll phone in a connection later.

Lee Katt said...

Down with this sort of thing!

Dose: The Guy Fawkes masks are used by a group called Anonymous (Anon).

The masks are also used by the denizens of DemocratUnderground. Some kind of "Direct Action" cell (they actually refer to themselves as such).
