When Right-wingers do it, it's a political mindset. When Left-wingers do it, it's isolated examples.

Please don't anybody hold their breath that the Left-wing of this country, who brings a cartload of poo to a protest and names it "Scott Walker", will be held accountable or even be mentioned by mainstream media.

vbspurs said...

Besides, poo doesn't show up well on NPR.

Has this Jim Shankman clown been arrested, and if not, why not?

Good compilation by Breitbart, but a separate and complete collection of only Althouse posts would probably be better.
Anyone remember the video of the Assemblyman (?) wrestling with the cop in the Capitol? What was the deal with that one?

Based on my calculations, civility will be called when:

1) the "rich" (or anyone making $150,000 per year) are taxed at 80%

2) every public employee, regardless of what they do, makes no less than $100,000/year

3) Obama is guaranteed a third
term

Ha ha ha.
Easy peasy.

When a Democrat is threatened.

Look, you folks in Wisconsin need to learn to fend for yourself. I mean, Obama is the President of the United States. He has bigger issues to work that affect the US and the world. A rebellion in Libya, a devastating earthquake in Japan, and Louisville losing in the first round. He made the right call on Richmond and Gonzaga, and who can blame him for the sentimental nudge to Michigan (St) over California (UCLA).

deborah said...

Robert, someone surmised on another thread that because the rant wasn't directly sent to Althouse and Meade it wouldn't be viewed as a threat (ie, freedom of speech). She found it on a google search that she keeps alerted for her name.

The answer to your question is quite easy: (crickets..)

There are no bigger hypocrites than Democrats and liberals.

None. Anywhere. Right now.

This is all of the proof anyone needs.

Welcome to the new Democrat Fascism. Same as the old Fascism, but with free media and White House support.

And Rachel Madddow.

Ann, when will you be on Fox News? Good luck with milking this and finding you place on the third tier of the right wing propaganda machine.

Shorter Jay Retread: "I wholeheartedly endorse each and every violent threat and action cited in the linked article."

vbspurs said...

That someone surmising was me, deborah. And the argument is moot, since Mr Shankman has since directed his puny-brained ire at Althouse since then. See other post today.

Kent, I strongly condemn any call for violence. Their were over 100,000 people at the Capitol last week protesting Walker. It is not surprising a very small percentage of nuts showed up. Given Walker's own musings on the subject there is reason to suspect some of them are agent provocateurs.

Jay, it's "REICHWING propaganda machine." I know they're just the daily talking points, but at least try to get them right, will you? Soros would like to get some value for his money.

Lukedog said...

Sixty-Grit,

I always know someone makes a point to be reckoned with when people start commenting on spelling, grammar, and the like.

Jay-Retread,

Couldn't agree more. Calls for violence, unacceptable. Superglue on locks, come on? For 1 month the majority of hundreds of thousands of people have protested peacefully. Ms. Althouse knows that.

Honestly, this "20 days of left-wing thuggery" bit just sounds like someone wants another meeting with Megyn Kelly.

vbspurs,

"when right-wingers do it, it's a political mindset. when left-wingers do, it's isolated examples"

Who wrote that? did you write that? do you believe that? I don't.

In a large social/political movement there are often a few nuts. I surely don't discredit an entire group of reasonable people because of a couple unstable folks. That would be silly.

No doubt. But, Democrats keep insisting that even the slightest intimation of violence (like carrying signs they don't like) completely discredits the Tea Party.

And, the Democratic dominated major media outlets toe this line, too.

So, which is it? Bad for both?

And, we do have real examples here of leftist calls for violence that seem to me to exceed anything I've seen of the Tea Party.

And, I'm not a member of the Tea Party.

Anonymous said...

So, lefties...

It really sucks doesn't it?

And you were enjoying that post Arizona talk about how Sarah Palin endorses mass murder so much.

Sucks, doesn't it?

Palin really did nothing.

Now, we've got all these leftists actually threatening violence.

And, you've got an excuse for that?

Hah!

The problem you've got here is that Althouse was a hippie/leftist when she was young.

For the first time, you've facing a media outlet with some clout that won't give you a pass. You're used to the major media giving you a pass.

Lincolntf said...

And so it goes from "lone" to a "few". And they're all just crazies, right? Not, say, a MA Congressman telling union drones to "get bloody" or a WI Assemblyman screaming "You're fucking dead!" at a Republican colleague?
Just the fringes my ass.

Lukedog said...

Shouting Thomas,

You said: I'm mad, I'm really mad, I don't know why I'm so mad and I'm not going to listen to anyone.

I said, threatening violence is unacceptable when it comes from any side. Also, a few nuts don't define a movement.

To imply (or directly say, I guess) that I was enjoying the Palin/Arizona stuff is not only really sad, but also completely untrue.

For the record, I'm not Palin's biggest fan, but I absolutely do not blame HER for the Arizona shootings.

Please, have a little more respect here.

Civility is for suckers, like RINOs.

Civility is to make sure the other side can't speak freely.

Civility is there so only your side gets its message across.

Usually, it's their first choice after elections don't go their way, but, in this country, FDR loused up the appellate courts, so they have another shot when they can't win over the electorate. The Lefties are hoping the courts will save their behinds, but. if that doesn't work...

The folks who said all Tea Party members are violent because of the actions of a few are just as stupid as those who are now trying to claim that all the protesters in WI are violent due to the actions of a few. Same ol' game of Divide Et Impera is being played...only now the two teams have switched places on the field.

Well, yeah, except...

The major news media pursued the story of the Tea Party because it wanted to hurt Republicans.

Where is the major news media now? Nowhere to be found, because reporting on this story would hurt Democrats.

That's the point. Get it yet?

Christopher in MA said...

"Also, a few nuts don't define a movement."

Interesting. And laudable, in the abstract. In the real world, however, we've seen that a congressroach's vivid imagination translates into hordes of Tea Partiers screaming "nigger!" and a few imbecilic LaRouchies with their racist signs means that the Tea Party is a movement of angry white men furious at a black man in the Oval Office.

So as much as YOU might play by the rules (such as they are), your cohorts on the left and in the Make-Believe-Media (but I repeat myself) do not. And that's why ST is mad. Frankly, I agree with him. And Ed. Civility IS for suckers nowadays.

Lincolntf said...

Yeah, remember when the Tea Party vandalized that Capitol Bldg in...ummm...nowhere? Or the elected Republican who screamed "You are fucking dead!" at...ummm...nobody. Or the death threats issued by Tea Party members directed at...Bueller? Bueller?...anyone?

No, they don't "both do the same things", not by a long shot. If the pro-Union mob was one/tenth as well mannered and respectful of the law as the TP's, this blog would've had nothing to post about for three weeks.

It addresses us directly and is aimed at us. The fact that it was posted on the internet doesn't change that. This is the way threats are delivered these days. It's like posting it on a billboard in your town.

Hey Luke,

How many more Jared Loughners, Eric Fullers, Jim Shankmans et al before you admit its more than just "a few nuts".

12? 100?

You want Obama to make a definitive call on any topic? We'll be kept waiting such a long time, hell will freeze over!

By the way, like it or not, The Jim Shankman dude is very negative on Obama. See? If you promise people a toy at the bottom of the Cracker-Jack box, that toy better be there! Life for Jim Shankman, however, has not gotten better since the 2008 election.

When I read that a "threat" was developing among liberals, to put a primary opponent in place for the 2012 cycle, I'm reminded that all is not well over in the other camp.

Besides, the Internet has been just spectacular at covering local stories. Here? I live near Pasadena. And, I come to see what's going on at the Rotunda in Madison, Wisconsin!

You bet, I've noticed the union ruckus crowd has disappeared.

And, I also noticed that it didn't matter if people held views left or right. Most people in Madison, Wisconsin are leap years ahead in friendliness. Or you've never been to Manhattan. To see how crowds of people walk by, indifferent to everything, sometimes, including traffic.

Violent words and deeds are reprehensible.

But if this is all that you've been able to scrape up after weeks of protests by tens of thousands of Wisconsinites, then you are clearly missing the big picure.

BTW, have you heard any word yet on who planted the bullets around the Capitol?

Lukedog said...

Chris,

They were bullets from a .22

I think someone wanted to make the cats or raccoons that hang around the capitol really scared.

In general, I wouldn't classify the Madison crowds as anymore anarchistic than the Tea Party people. That said, left wing causes tend to attract a younger crowd. They're more photogenic for the media, but also flakier. Shankman is definitely the kind of loose scraping that wouldn't be attracted to the Tea Party.....I would think the left should be aware of those risks and tone down their rhetoric-- especially after the way they came after Palin.....It is a truth universally acknowled that when people say it's not about the money, it's all about the money, This is a civil service dispute. The Governor (and the taxpayers) want to pay less, and the teachers want to keep their pay and perks. This is not the great, defining moral issue of our time, and the future of the republic does not hang in the balance.

Agreed. Anyone could have seen it at that point. And, as Victoria pointed out, the second one was purposely directed to you.
