"Tread on me, please, I'm a masochist!"

Dr. Weevil adapts Hazy Dave's version of the Gadsden flag.

Powerline picked up "It's OK to Tread on Me Now/I Have Health Insurance" for a post about Obamacare.

ADDED: I like Dr. Weevil's quip: "Here’s my submission."

Why the attack on free speech by Democrats?

Remember when free speech was the most treasured tenet of liberal Democrats? How in the world have Democrats flipped completely? How have Democrats convinced themselves to champion censorship?

The answer is pretty simple. For 50 years, the central tenet of Democratic politics has been that lower and middle class white people are irredeemable bigots who cannot be allowed to express their self-interest.

The Democrats encourage their treasured interest groups (blacks, gays, SWPL women) to pursue their self-interest with a vengeance. Sarah Palin represents the self-interest of lower and middle class whites, the Democrat's untouchables. These people must not pursue their self-interest, lest they decide to resurrect the Klan.

This is why Palin must be stopped. She represents the untouchables.

And, now that a black has been elected president, the logic of the Democrat's strategy is falling apart. With Democratic interests groups hauling in the swag, how can they continue to insist that lower and middle class whites have no place at the table?

Palin represents a stunning and terrifying change in the political landscape to Democrats. That's why they have marked her for assassination.

And that's why Democrats have become champions of censorship. The issues Palin discusses are to be ruled too divisive to be discussed.

Yes, garage, those lower and middle class whites should shut up, shouldn't they?

Irritates the hell out of a snob like you.

You'd better learn to choke on it. Palin isn't going to go away. She's smarter than you. In fact, she's got you beat in every way imaginable.

Which is the actual explanation for your exasperation. She wasn't supposed to do that, right? Like Malkin wasn't supposed to leave you in the dust.

According to the new USA TODAY/Gallup survey, Palin's favorability rating has dipped to 38 percent while her unfavorable now stands at 53 percent. Gallup reports the 38 percent is a new low when it comes to the percentage of Americans who give the former Alaska governor a thumbs up. The 53 percent who dislike Palin is also a new high in Gallup polling.

According to my indicators, Palin's every word is discussed endlessly in ever blog, newspaper and TV show in existence.

Notice that you've completely failed to address what it is about Palin that so threatens the Democratic Party.

I'll take this as acceptance of my views.

And, you might note, she hasn't announced for any political office.

So, you've just change the subject.

Whether or not Palin runs for any office, she dominates the political debate for precisely the reasons I've set forth.

Garage,
CNN has Palin in the cross hairs (literally) . Your side is bunch of hypocrits. Big Brother here is the liberal media. The proproganda has seduced weak minds.

Garage, Be a man and admit that Pelosi Congress had a favorable rating of 13%. No wonder Voters refudiated them in November

Palin is a younger, female Rush Limbaugh.

Palin is a younger, female Rush Limbaugh.

Elements of that, to be sure.

But, I don't see lower class white guys in pickup trucks getting behind Limbaugh. I do see them getting behind Palin (double entendre intended).

In fact, I wouldn't mind getting behind her.

My point remains. The election of Obama means the end of the era in which lower and middle class whites can be excluded from the table as irredeemable bigots and untouchables.

USA Today polls have been known to be in the tank for The Zero. Better to check with Rasmussen.

As for the flag, when will there be an Althouse version?

Something where the snake has a platinum bob and an IPad in one hand (I know) saying something like, "Tread on me and I'll debate you into the ground".

If she's so unpopular, why is the left so obsessed with attacking her? They're wasting their time, apparently. Why are they so stupid?

I don't know how. If I had an idea, I wouldn't know how to execute it. If someone wants to tell me in a way that is very easy to understand, I'd work in that genre, but I don't have the predisposition to learn Photoshop. I've had it for years, and I don't use it. I stick with iPhoto, and do very simple things.

Ann, have you tried LiveQuartz for Mac Leopard?

Easier than Photoshop and Gimp, more intuitive. Like an elaborated iPhoto. Works on the principle of layers like Photoshop and Gimp. Drag and drop a photo. Use tools to adjust. Drag and drop another photo into another layer on top of the first, or select a portion of the first and copy the selection onto a new layer. Adjust to your heart's desire. Remove background, stretch, shrink, move around, apply filters, etc. Add text into a new layer. Compress all layers, save as new image. I haven't seen yet how to rotate an object as one does with Photoshop and Gimp but I haven't tried all that hard and I looked at the readme either. It appears to be quite easy to pick up.

Because even Democrats can read poll internals.

And if you look at the USA/Today poll internals that GarageMahal linked, you'll see that the overwhelming majority of respondents were in fact Democrats.

It's a push poll designed by the media to tell the story they want to tell - that Palin is somehow becoming less popular. (Which we all know is bullshit).

But if you poll mostly Democrats - - voila! you can get the result you want.

But the people who matter don't buy that bullshit. That bullshit is meant for the hoi polloi - fucking morons who still believe what they read in USA Today.
