The masthead. I mean, really...

When we get some money coming in I'll buy something big and gaudy and expensive through the portal. Probably all the books I've held off buying for three years.

I promise.

But, hey, we come here as much for the wit as the wisdom:

Now We Are Sixty - And Counting

The House on Meadesy-poo Corner
(I know, Titus...)

In My Mind, I'm Still 36

The real name on Barack Ozero's birth cert

Something, anything.

Start a contest.

Or not. Your blog. I am but a humble commenter. :)

Heart O Gold sort of sounds like a Wisconsin cheese. So many hearts and so little time to learn whether they are 24 Carat hearts or mixtures. Most of us are mixtures and in need of mercy. Lord, may we all stay productive in whatever stage of life we wake up in. The Psalms of David often reminded his Lord that it is not the dead who praise His name.

You keep me searching
For a bowl of potatoes
And I'm getting old

Odd

Seven golden delicious aardappelen halving it all.
Each is more pomo d'oro than pomme de terre,
But where is the eighth to make four pair?

Ever have the "naked dream"? It's one of those recurring dreams that some people have in which no matter what they're doing in their dream, they somehow suddenly find themselves naked. Then the remaining part of the dream is a frantic effort to find cover.

The meaning of that dream is that they are afraid that people will see what they are really like.

Not that I've ever had that dream.

Hawaii governor can't find Obama birth certificate:

"Hawaii Gov. Neil Abercrombie suggested in an interview published today that a long-form, hospital-generated birth certificate for Barack Obama may not exist within the vital records maintained by the Hawaii Department of Health."

Next stop, Kenya.

How nice that the state Govt in Hawaii is purring along so nicely that the Governor has time to waste digging into the state archives for a piece of paper.

But I still try to sing about love and war

Puts me in the mind of Douglas Adam's Hitchhiker's Guide spaceship - the S.S. Heart of Gold powered by the infinite improbability drive. I think the same power source has propelled many a politician's career.

Althouse, what would be your cut if I bought this heart through Amazon?

Strangers stopping strangers, just to shake their hand.

To be fair this is not strictly accurate. According to the interview Gov. Abercrombie (damn, he looks like a hippie prune,eh) is still looking. Anybody care to bet he'll still be searching for that document in November 2012?

How do those potatoes taste?

Meade said...

t-man, her cut will be $65,289.00. State, federal, and local taxes will take a cut of about 50%.

Thanks in advance!

Meade said...

Fred4, the potatoes tasted great - rich and buttery, sauteed in a little olive oil with onion, garlic, black pepper and coarse salt. Went very nicely with a little tenderloin and steamed carrots.

Well, I don't want all of that money wasted on taxes, so I'll pass on the 8 ct diamond. I did purchase this, as a present for my wife for Christmas - an Althouse (via Meade) recommendation.

$1.61 to Althouse. Thanks!

You da man, t-man. (Happy gardening to Mrs. t-man.)
