I knew it, I knew it! The whole world was in black 'n white until Walt Disney's Wonderful World of Color came on, Sunday evenings.

You look like a total disbeliever.

Merry Christmas.

wv = "disiv" short for "disive" which is short for dismissive.

Merry Christmas!! It is so wonderful to see those two beautiful little girls dressed appropriately for the important meeting with Santa Claus. Compare and contrast with the attire of those in line today to see the fat man. Pictures like this say so much about ourselves and our changing world.

Great picture. Did you Mom set your hair with bobby pins too? :) Great memories.

Merry Christmas to all at Alt/Meadehouse and the Althouse commentariat.

I checked out your photostream. Some very nice shots, Professor.

To think that one of those little girls would grow up to be the mother of a professional golfer. ALthouse did ok too.

You look like my sister back then - and she had the same kind of coat.

I can't believe parents sending kids out in 20 degree weather in T-shirts. They must think ZeroCare will raise them from the dead.

Looks almost identical to the one hanging in my mother's room (framed) right now. It was her and her sister, from the side, in glorious black and white. I'm assuming theirs is from 1953-ish as well.

It all went downhill once ladies left the house without hat and gloves.

Where are the Althousian accoutrements, btw?

Merry Christmas

@Palladian: The "colorized" version?
Can we use that word here?

@Palladian Thanks for posting that. I had that up on an old post, and the code went bad because of what Mac.com did to my photo pages.

Great shots of personality showing in candid moments, even at 3 years children have such a great awareness and interaction skills with the adults all around them. I was thinking today watching my grand daughters, that a new born baby contains all of that just waiting to develop. God sees us like that too, and he sent his Son to experience it with us.Thanks for sharing this precious photo.

Wonderful photo Althouse.

I had a wool coat with a velvet collar much like the checked one, it was too precious. I hated girlie clothes, much to my mother's chagrin having first birthed two boys, she unleashed her inner Shirley Temple on me.

Fortunately my younger sister is a very girlie girl, so I was spared except for church and such.

@PatCA

Bobby pins!!! Yikes, yes, rolling long hair into curls with ribbons, secured bobby pins.

Anyone remember "spoolies"?

Just curious: what kind of camera was that image taken on? Was it a brownie? Do you know?

Yeah, I'm a camera geek.
