"Sarah put her ass on the line for Joe and yet he can't answer a simple question 'is Sarah Palin Qualified to be President.'"

That email from Todd to Joe Miller.

The self-destruction begins. GOP love to kill each other. Please continue till Nov. 2012. Please. I beg of you.

These are two politicians with overlapping support groups in Alaska. Miller must be a true libertarian since suddenly he cannot commit himself in a two way alliance with Palin and stay pure. That was a Big mistake. The semper fi motto is an important part of a group on a hostile mission, and Miller thinks he is too smart for that???

The shocking part in all this is that Palin spends entire mornings on her Facebook posts. And why would she be putting her ass on the line if she only endorses "commonsense conservative candidates"?

traditionalguy said...

Garage...To quote Donald Rumsfeld. " you go to war with the common sense candidates that you have".

Because the truth would be rude?

However, internal emails obtained by The Mudflats

There's a story behind how those were obtained too I'll bet.

"Ass on the line"
Just wait until the Sullivanists get their hands on that little anti-Orwellian jewel.

Palin is ten times more qualified than Obama or Biden [do those two dopes have even five years of work experience in the real world?]

Garage,

Why would she be putting her ass on the line if she only endorses "commonsense conservative candidates"?

Because liberals will claim there is no such animal, and it's her ass, and she's who liberals are gunning for - not Joe Miller. That's what the put-yourself-in-her-shoes message was about: the pressure cooker. She's in the big leagues now, and everything could collapse on her, whether she's responsible or not. She needs support.

Joe Miller is a lesson: know who your friends are.

Sprezzatura said...

Don't worry Palin fans. Miller is an elitist (Yale law), so, obviously, he don't not know nothing.

Non-elitists unite!!! Palin 2012!

So Palin is like everyone else in wasting time on Facebook.

She really is of the people.

I guess Facebook is better than wasting time in a comments section...

Considering that

(a): Palin hasn't said she's running for President, and

(b): The overwhelming majority of swing voters think Palin is unqualified to be President

... it would be pretty stupid of a candidate in a close race to announce that he thinks Palin is qualified to be President. After the election, sure. But saying that during an election would make him look out of touch.

Joe Miller forgot to (as they say in Texas) dance with the one who brung you.

The guy has not won anything yet and he's already running like a RINO.

ASSHOLE.

Reveant...You are correct in your analysis. You point out that Joe Miller is too smart to risk a little damage to himself just to do good back to a person who did him enormous good. But a few of us see that brilliant analysis as the dumbest thing anyone can ever do. The pure libertarian, and therefore free from restraints of committed relationships, sees no needs other than his own needs. Palin is more of a Ronald Reagan clone. She believes in forming alliances with impure people like women, Reagan Democrats and evangelical voters.

David said...

First of all, what a totally stupid article. There's a lot better evidence that Palin will run for President than some hothead (though richly deserved) email from Todd.

The article says "Miller's subsequent stunning upset over Republican incumbent Lisa Murkowski may have had more to do with a ballot proposition calling out social conservatives, but has been widely credited, at least in part, to the Palin nod."

Year, right, as if Joe Miller had a chance without the active backing of Palin.

Miller might have said, if he used his brain: "The Republicans have a number of candidates who are qualified to be President. I know Sarah Palin, and she is one of them."

Gracious, positive, yet neutral.

Though Todd should cool it with emails, it's impressive how he rallies to her when she is attacked. Do not mess with Todd Palin.

How about some efing loyalty..

If Joe Miller ducks a simple question about Sarah Palin - the woman that put him on the map - what the f&8k is he going to do about the size of a gargantuan deficit a behemoth federal government.. even at the expense of Alaska.. but for the good of the nation.

The little nini.

Miller is just being smart. You don't answer that type of specific question this far out. And Mr. Palin needs to be a bit more circumspect.

Love to know how funny HD would be saying that in front of Miss Sarah. After which he would need to be surgically removed from the nearest wall, of course.

YA BETCHA!!!

PS pb&j thinks being another son of Saul makes him witty.

Peter Hoh said...

It's a simple question. Joe Miller certainly can answer it.

However, I don't think that Todd would be happy with Joe's answer.

traditionalguy said...

Joe Miller is a family friend of the Palins who have supported him by raising the money he needed to come from behind and win by 2,000 votes. I remember well learning a lesson to never allow a friend on a Jury. They suddenly turn into your most perfectionist critics. Give me a fair stranger who is objective over a friend any day. There are real committed friends, but close acquaintances can be rivals.

(email from Todd to Joe Miller).

I think Joe Miller DID answer the question, in a polite way.

NotWhoIUsedtoBe said...

Yeah, he did.

Palin should not be President.

Have we learned nothing?

What are the qualifications to be president of the United States?

According to my copy of the Constitution: No person except a natural born Citizen, or a Citizen of the United States, at the time of the Adoption of this Constitution, shall be eligible to the Office of President; neither shall any Person be eligible to that Office who shall not have attained to the Age of thirty-five Years, and been fourteen Years a Resident within the United States.

Are there other "qualifications" I'm not aware of? It's really hard to take serious the idea of "qualifications" for office beyond the basic ones enumerated in the Constitution when you consider the current holder of that office.

Joe Miller is another RINO betrayer of Sarah Palin. Betrayers get dealt with as many a moose would know.

Would it make any difference if she posted a new message in the old format on www.sarahpalin.com? Does Facebook somehow render the content laughable? You simply diminish yourself with such childish statements.

Revenant said...

The pure libertarian, and therefore free from restraints of committed relationships, sees no needs other than his own needs.

The only people who actually believe that statement are socialists and idiots. Which are you?

No, it would make no difference. I'd be laughing at that, too.

isn't the more pressing issue here, is how the hell did ppl get a hold of said email. Either a crime was commited or its fake

It is possible to admire and respect Sarah Palin and still have reservations about her qualifications for the Presidency. If Miller, however, was the one who leaked the email exchange, he is clearly an unworthy friend.

Joe said...

Sarah put her ass on the line for Joe

No she didn't. Not remotely.

Palladian said...

"It is possible to admire and respect Sarah Palin and still have reservations about her qualifications for the Presidency."

Still wondering... what the flying fuck are the qualifications for the presidency, aside from the enumerated ones in the Constitution? Barack Obama has put to rest the notion that there are any besides those, one would think...

Revenant said...

Freedom and rights will remain social constructs but a society first requires good leadership protecting a social life that supports free rights. Ayn Rand never lead any group of men and women to success in anything.

So the problem here is that you don't know the difference between libertarians and objectivists?

Revenant said...

Still wondering... what the flying fuck are the qualifications for the presidency, aside from the enumerated ones in the Constitution?

So... if Miller had replied "yes, Sarah Palin is one of the 150 million Americans who are legally eligible to hold office", you would have considered that a good response?

Follow-up question: do you think Todd Palin would have considered that a good response?

Final question: why are you pretending to not understand what "qualified" means, in context?

"So who hacked the Palins' emails this time?"

Nobody, Ralphie. The First Dude sent an intemperate email to a person who was Not His Friend. Having it passed around was a nearly inevitable result.

"Sarah put her ass on the line"

I'd like to see that.

James said...

So, even if he doesn't think Palin has what it takes to be President, he is supposed to say that she does because she wrote a Facebook post that resulted in him getting a lot of campaign money? Support someone, not because you think they are the right person for the job, but because their support for you got you loads of cash?

Funny, that sounds exactly like the sort of "GOP insider, D.C. politics, etc. etc." that Palin and the Tea Partiers always rail against. Of course, if you actually believed these politicians would be any different than your normal GOP politicians, except with the addition of a little more crazy in some cases, I've got a bridge to sell you.

traditionalguy said...

Politics in the USA works the same way for the holders of traditional American core values as it does for the anti-American values party. The rule is still that between elections the 51% leader gets all authority and 49% leader gets no authority. So, winning elections by forming alliances of mutual support IS the only game in town. If you want more idealism than that, then you will be disappointed. Yet in the end, the attitude of the elected leader will become a blessing or a curse to the governed group. Palin has never been Saint Joan of Arc, but Todd Palin's asking his friend Joe to support his wife's Presidential candidacy is a normal political alliance request. Joe Miller can also chose another alliance or remain an independent operator. Perhaps he sensed that Sarah and Todd stuck their nose in by funding his campaign more to defeat the Murkowski RINO, a common enemy, than to help their long time friend.

This whole thing sounds like BS to me.

Consider the source of the supposedly leaked e-mails

Consider whether it sounds like anything Todd has done in the past.

Consider the timing

Not saying that it didn't happen. Just saying that absent some other info, I am very skeptical.

One interesting note in the article:

It says that Sarah spent the whole morning writing a FaceBook entry.

How many pols do that? How many pols even read what their minions write on their behalf?

Good on Sarah. She writes her own material? One more reason to like her.

Well, except it took her an entire morning to write one facebook post. That's the funny part that Beth is laughing at, and so am I.

These emails are entirely unremarkable.

Peter Hoh said...

G Joubert:
After Obama the whole concept of "qualified" is a nonstarter.

If you think that Obama was unqualified, then you have all the more reason to think that it's important to nominate qualified candidates.

Peter Hoh said...

Freeman, the email is drawing attention because it seems (at least to some) to confirm that Palin is planning to run in 2012.

While this has been the topic of much speculation, there has never been a clear indication from the Palin camp regarding her plans.

Then there are those who wish to see it as proof that Todd plays the role of enforcer. In that regard, I agree that it's an unremarkable email.

The Musket said...

I'm with John -- I'm much more interested in the how the email was obtain and if it's legitimate than if Sarah is a good candidate for president. I think this leaked email is intended to cast doubt on Joe Miller and damage his chance at victory in November. Look at the source and wonder why they put it up. They think like America's Politico and would love to see destruction of the GOP and they wouldn't mind starting something to get it going. Focus on the current battle; Sarah isn't in the current battle. Get Joe Miller elected and worry about Sarah later.

There is nothing in there that would make anyone, except someone trying to make a "splash" by deliberately inferring a "smoking gun" that does not exist, any more or less sure that Palin will run in 2012. One read of the story and it's obvious the writer is an antifanboy of Palin, and is trying to give his equally bent commenters something to talk about. Even Libs get tired of all-uterus-all-the-time chat after a couple of years.
Oh, and the use of the word "endorsement" by Todd as the crux of their story? Laughable.

Revenant said...

That about it? The way I see it it's up to the voters to determine who's best qualified.

If it is best to let the voters determine that, they doesn't it follow that Joe Miller did the right thing by refusing to answer the question?
