Angle and Reid.

"Angle is winning the all-important independent voters by double digits, 55 percent to 38 percent, as Nevadans not aligned with either major political party swing her way as they settle on a choice."

Remember how Sharron Angle was the craziest Tea Partier, and then they found O'Donnell?

I think the O'Donnell nomination worked out quite well.

Reid's senile boobery soon to be replaced by a possible loose cannon. Loose cannons below decks are better than captains that can't see the rocks looming ahead. I'm hoping that we're at the beginning of the end of career politicians (of all stripes), but unfortunately I know better.

The Tea Party is doing for the Dems what they lack the balls to do for themselves.
Harry Reid is a bumbling disgrace and an all around political failure, but the Dems are more than happy to keep him in DC for another 6 years. I can't wait to watch the Tea Party defeat the Democrat Senate Leader. Talk about a success story.

As I said months ago, if either Reid or Boxer lose (preferably both), I'll be happy.

I think its funny as hell Reid's own son Rory won't even use his last name on his gubernatorial campaign signs/ads.

I mean I can understand why he wouldn't but its still funny as hell.

"I've only been on two winning teams, this one, and in college, and both of them had a bunch of jackasses. I never really heard of an uptight team that wins."

I haven't been following. Who's a bigger jackass--Sharron Angle or Harry Reid?

That's pretty funny, Garage, considering, oh, I dunno...John Edwards, Alvin Green. Those two give you both lying and nutbag. For lying, you can't do better than the Mighty Clinton Duo. Although, I suppose when you're a Clinton and a ranking Democrat, it's just misspeaking.

Try again.

I've always seen it as a Reno versus Vegas thing going down there. Vegas has run Nevada for a long, long, time. People got addicted to hope and change, now they want some normal back.

Reid seems dead and has never been impressive.

What I wonder about with respect to both Reid and Pelosi, is how such mediocre and seemingly not very bright people ascend to the highest levels of democratic leadership among a group of highly ambitious democratic policians.

I have often wondered this about Pelosi, because he clearly seems not to be very smart. But the same question applis to Reid. Any answers?

Let's cut garage some slack. I know I can be pretty mean too but lets face it, the guy is having a hard time. I mean Hillary has been relegated to...what was her job again? And then Stewart is picking on Obama and even Feingold is in trouble which even I can't believe and his own beloved Democrats are facing being relegated to the back seat of the legislative short bus.

And the kicker is its largely because of some old white people dressed up as Betsy Ross and Ben Franklin and an Alaskan ex-governor

Judging from what I see on TV around here, most of the political advertising from Democrats is focused on negative slurs against their Republican opponents, while Republicans are running against their opponents' records and, secondarily against the Obama-Reid-Pelosi troika. From what I read on the Internet, this is a national phenomenon.

And their strategy is blowing up in the Democrats' faces.

Reid has been campaigning negatively since Angle won her primary. Voters are sick of it, and they want to send a few messages.

I think she's got it. Garage will have 6 more years to gripe and grouse. That should make him a truly happy man.

The country will be in the best of hands. I guess the one consolation will be the comic relief, when she actually does have to talk to the press. Which she promised she will do if elected.

Looks to me like the Senate will be a 50-50 split, leaving the fate of the country in Joe Biden's hands.

I don't suppose there is a moderate Democrat senator who was not up for election this year, in a deeply red state, who might be interested in a shiny new committee chairmanship?

I was tempted to put my comment under the discussion of the Krugman piece instead, but since it's really about Angle vs. Reid, it is more appropriate here, I suppose. Krugman tries to scare his readers, and in that respect he's very much like Harry Reid. That is about all Harry Reid's campaign against Angle amounts to: trying to scare voters into supporting him. His campaign has used three main lines of argument: 1). She is "scary" and has "crazy" ideas, 2). she would be ineffective in the senate, and 3). no one can bring home the pork like the majority leader. Unfortunately, Harry doesn't seem to realize that arguments #1) and #2) pretty much cancel each other out: even if we were to concede that she is scary and crazy, if she's ineffective, then there's no real reason to worry. At this point, more and more voters seem to be in the mood for telling Harry to get his hands off the pork and go home.

Hoosier Daddy said...

I guess we'll see garage. I mean what with the comic relief that Vice President Joe O'Biden provides I wonder what time slot
Angle will get?

Is that really what is bothering you garage? That one clown is replacing another? So you prefer Kinko the Clown over Bozo? I mean if that's the case then say so. If not then just admit that you have no problem with idiots in government as long as they have a (D) behind thier name.

Seriously garage, if she is such an idiot and kook and is winning, wtf does that say about Harry Reid?

So if they don't pass your smell test, I don't think you really know what a moderate republican is.

I don't know about the rest, but Lieberman is from a solidly blue state. He could win as an independant promising to caucus with the Democrats, but I don't think he could win reelection as a Republican.

I don't consider blue dogs moderate. They are just on someone elses payroll. If you are more conservative, fine. I can't wait to watch the Tea Party defeat the Democrat Senate Leader. Talk about a success story.

Doesn't two thousand years of eastern and western history tell us that most government beaurocracies become increasingly unwieldly, immobilized, ineffective, and eventually collapse under their own weight (typically with a little help by challengers to the status quo). This process has gained too much momentum to be stopped now by any person, party, or force. Our system has peaked, has failed to effectively adapt, and will ultimately run it's course, similar to the life cycle of a star. Reid and Angle, Bush and Obama, Fox and MSNBC, Conservative and Liberal, are all sparks thrown off of a star spinning toward its demise. Any predictions on what will replace it?
