"The Obama admin hoped the Times Square bomber was a R-wing extremist. Rush hoped the oil rig was sabotaged by environmentalists."

The audacity shame of hope...

I would call BS on both of these supposed 'hopes.'

Rush was doing probabilities, which owing to timing were coming out for non-coincidence, not hoping.

I think Mayor Bloomberg's statement was far more revealing.
After decades of watching his fellow citizens targeted, attacked and slaughtered by Islamist terrorists, his best guess is that someone upset about the health care takeover is to blame? If that's what he really thought, he is quite possibly brain dead. There have been ZERO attacks by anyone who cares about health care legislation, but that's where his mind goes? Why? What delusions and prejudices must he be nursing?

If he was just feigning ignorance and was cynically trying to accuse "teabaggers" in order to marginalize them, then he's a villain of the first order.
He's either a fool or a fraud. Either way, NYC deserves a lot better.

To the traditional who-ya-gonna-believe-me-or-your-lyin'-eyes cliches, Mayor Bloomberg has now added the inspired line that the amateurish loner with no connection to terrorism "didn't like the health care bill". I do hope they ask Faisal Shahzad his views on the individual mandate.

Any moment now, Janet Napolitano will announce that effective immediately it will be illegal to remove your sweat shirt in a public place
.

I understand the rhetorical uses of the statement, but I'm with EMD up there.

Now, if you substitute Bloomberg for Obama, you might be on to something.

Big difference though, one is a sensationalist by trade and likes to stir the pot so as to increase the number of his listeners.

The other is our commander in chief who is supposed to represent and defend all Americans. Good thing he says he is above partisan politics, I would hate to see the partisan side of him.

Bloomberg said:

"If I had to guess, twenty five cents, this would be exactly that," ... "Homegrown maybe a mentally deranged person or someone with a political agenda that doesn't like the health care bill or something. It could be anything."

"It could be anything?"

Radical Islam doesn't even enter his mind?

NY - get a better mayor. Now.

Bloomie is as least as big a statist as The Zero - and probably bigger. It shouldn't surprise too many that he's looking for an excuse to shut down anybody who wants smaller government.

mccullough said...

I suppose it's a good sign that the would-be bomber didn't want to blow up himself. Perhaps he became too Americanized.

Kurt said...

jrberg3 and rhhardin have good points with respect to Rush. But it's also worth remembering that environmental extremists do have a history of destructive acts. For instance, here is some FBI testimony from 2002 documenting some acts of eco-terrorism.

Hell, Barry calls 60% of Americans teabaggers so why not hope a white American was the terrorist in NYC?

If you listen close enough you can almost hear it.

We can clearly see that at some point, long ago, Mayor Bloomberg made too much money. Rush Limbaugh makes a great deal of money, in large part by making people who don't listen to him think they know what he's saying.

I don't think the two are comparable.

Expat(ish) said...

Rush's massive resources (dozen people reading blogs?) of course led him down the garden path.

Teh oNe has quite a bit of leverage, of course, so one might expect a bit better of him. (Not me, mind you, the man's never really worked for a living, which puts him in my "meh" category.)

Other than that, not a bit of difference between the two things.

Gotta go, sale on straw men at the Home Depot!

"NY - get a better mayor. Now."

New Yorkers don't have the right to a better Mayor. Personally, I believe that will lead to more bombs and more airplanes and more dead New Yorkers.

They had a two-term limit before Bloomberg was mayor. He used his power to get that limit removed.

He is mayor for life with unlimited funds at his disposal to fend off all-comers.

New Yorkers have no rights in Michael Bloomberg's America.

Nope. One is an elected official and the other is a talk show host. One would hope that an elected offical would be a bit more circumspect with thier words.

Yeah I know, fat chance.

Nanny Bloomberg has always been an idiot but he has bought himself out of trouble time and again. He cuts a check and everyone shuts up. He sold out the city to his fellow real estate interests. The whore journalists want his money and hope to work for him someday so they cover everything.

He is Bernie Madoff who owes a communications empire.

Bruce Ratner, one of Bloomberg’s cronies who is building the Nets stadium just paid off the last holdout of the eminent domain controversy.
For a million bucks.

He sold out the Nets to some dude in the Russian Mafia.

That's what these big time real estate douches do.

Bloomberg is his enabler.

Bloomberg would rather blame a white middle class man than a Muslim.

White middle class men are the Kulaks of America. We are the class villains, the enemies of the revolution.

Actually, with the exception of Janet Incompatento and Mouth-Breather Bloomberg, the usual suspects were remarkably quiet and patient on this one - no closing off possibilities, not jumping on the "militia" theory. I think that the Obama Admin (Retard Janet excepted) learned a few things from last Christmas, at least on the PR side.

Sabotage is a live possibility for the oil rig because (1) modern rigs have a huge number of fail safes; (2) after the Santa Barbara spill and the Exxon Valez, oil companies are highly financially incentivized to do everything possible to prevent spills (and that's even before one considers that BP will not be able to refine the oil gushing out into the Gulf of Mexico into nice, expensive gasoline), and (3) the crews on the rigs understand perfectly well that screwing up means dying in a particularly nasty way.

That said, every time you think you've idiot-proofed something, you discover that the world keeps churning out better idiots.

As to Bloomberg, you'd think that he'd pull his head out of his butt once in a while. Guess that's asking too much

You must have forgotten the 3,000 murdered at the WTC.

Or the 17 murdered at Ft. Hood.

What you should have said, given your muttonhead politics is: "When are those fucking teabaggers gonna murder somebody, so that I can issue my statement condemning them are terrorists."

Somehow, the fucking teabaggers keep refusing to commit terrorism.

Must be frustrating, MM.

The Jews are key callers of the shots in the Obama Administration. They heavily bankrolled his campaign. Most tend to be the Goldman Sachs/Elena Kagan sort of progressive Jew keen on socialist change in America, demonizing class enemies like the "teabaggers" , and down on "right wing Settlers" who they see as a deviant variety of Jew that failed to support the Soviet Union and progressive causes as much as they should.

But even progressive Jews don't see any money, power, or forced social justice upside to blowing up Israel.
Israel is also a tax and money-laundering haven.

Just wait, all you smug people. It will come out that this guy was actually a member of the tea party There will be video to prove it, too.

Obviously, he was not a fan of Obamacare or the bailouts. It's the only reasonable explanation for such an act. He spent 5 months in Pakistan studying their health care system and determined that single payer was an affront to all things holy.

Where's Geraldo? I have a question for him about his racially biased eye sight.

Bloomberg really hates the middle class. We should learn to keep our mouths shut and let him run Manhattan as though it were his personal property.

Unfortunately, for all their bluster, New Yorkers are apathetic. If Bloomberg wants a fourth term, he will win again.

Meanwhile, Rep. Peter King and Sen. John "Really, I'm not a maverick" McCain have both come out and said the suspect shouldn't have been Mirandized. Apparently, either the fact that he's a Muslim or that he has not been a citizen for that long means the Constitution doesn't really apply to him.

Though, I suppose if Obama's supposed "hopes" were true and the bomber was a white Tea Partier, we'd have Republican Congressmen speaking publicly in favor of blatantly violating his Constitutional rights, right? . . .

Lincolntf said...

The Obama Administration tracked this Muslim terrorist (poorly) by using a warrantless search of cell phone records.
Now he's been Mirandized.
My cynical side says that he'll probably walk, and that one of Eric Holder's ex-partners will lead the defense team.

Who owns the records -- the person with the phone, or the service supplier?

If it's the latter, then what could this citizen and alleged terrorist do about it?

So John Gotti or you have no recourse when the FBI wants to know who you talked to? I doan t'ink so....I may be a CONSERVATIVE, but I'm a libertarian one....you want 'phone records you gotsta get a court to give y'use an "Ok." Otherwise, the case she ahs problems.

I think both are reprehensible. Shame on them all. Oh, and Bloomburg too. Anyone who thinks that a pakistani terrorist cares at all about our healtcare system is daft. I suspect that the former(administration) is just hopeful thinking on the neocons part and the latter is actuality on Limbaugh's part. Never have I listened to someone who cares so little for Americans and so much about himself and his meanderings. He is a despicable human being. And the part about him being a human being is stretching it.

Madison, apparently it was a "throw-away" phone from a gas station/convenience store.

Who "owns" the information transmitted by such a phone is a Constitutional mystery to me. The phone itself is kind of a macguffin anyway.
What we need are the words/locations transmitted by the device even if the Islamic terrorist throws it in a river.
Tough call on whether Verizon (or a similar Co.) should open their books to such a corrupt and irresponsible Admin., but I guess it's a necessary evil.

Thanks vicki from pasadena for your terrific insight on Rush. I *never* would have guessed.

(Maybe he's really a V? Or a Fifth Column V?)

Old news now -- but apparently one of the MSM opened today with the fact that the guy had his house foreclosed? That's why he might have been upset?

Well, if you spend 5 months in Pakistan in the first year after you become a naturalized citizen of the US, it might be a little hard to generate income.

Hilarious. But only because the bomb was so poorly made.

But even something poorly made is going to kill someone eventually.

As for the phone: I wish the authorities would SHUT UP. I really did not need to know that they picked up his call from an Air Force jet circling over to try and intercept his communications.

What ever happened to "need to know?"

The matter is that if TS bomber was RW extremist we would know it immediately, but of the rig was subotaged by environmentalist, I'm not sure.

Appx. a week back I was listening to BBC World, via NPR talking about "American oil rig" explosion, not saying even once that the rig in the news belongs to BP (British Petroleum), which was mentioned earlier by the NPR and other news media.
