Biden: "That's the American people, man. We've gotta give them light,"

Wha? He had some analogy going, having to do with diving into a quarry swimming hole when he was a kid — diving from what he says is a height of 100 feet:
"The frightening part was you go down really far, I mean literally really far. So deep it's totally black. Your chest constricts, you panic and you don't know whether you're swimming down or up.

"But when you get about 12 to 14 feet from the top you see light and everything is OK. You're still 12 feet underwater, but it's OK. You see light."

I just wish they didn't force us to jump off a 1000 foot cliff first.

Mom used to say, "Well, if everybody were jumping off a cliff, would you?"

(in response to the pre-teen maaaaaawm, all my friends are doing it....)

" , man."

Enough of the 60s hippie talk, Biden. Grow up, man.

Come on conservatives, we are down deep, our chests are compressed, it is dark and cold, but we can see the light...repeal the bill.

I can see the light down here...repeal the health care bill!

That's one fucking amazing man, that Joe Biden.

Joe Biden, America's Putin said...

Repeal. For the sake of our nation's future.

First, we have to get rid of the corrupt socialist clowns that infect our government.

Biden is such a poet. A regular James Dickey if you ask me.

Oops. Not 1000. Fixed.

Even 100 feet is a hell of a drop. Why do I doubt this story.

Then again it would explain some things. Hitting the water that hard can't be good for your brain.

I don't believe the 100-foot part either.

TRO: You doubt this story because it came out of Vice President Biden's mouth. The guy's grip on reality is tenuous.

Joe's been in the dark a long time.
He thinks we're as bad off as he is.

Go to the light, Joe. Go to the light. (Just stop trying to take us all with!)

On this, all sides agree. We just disagree about whether it's a good F or a bad F.

Yeah Joe, some of us can't see the light because the democrats just tied a 200 lb weight around our necks.....

I can relate. Link.

The kids dived from 30 meters? Yeah, right!!!

No one knows what Joe Biden is going to say next; I think even Biden must sometimes be surprised to hear what he is saying.

But in the end, he could always be counted on to vote as he was told.

This guy is a heartbeat and a pack of smokes away from the presidency.

Calypso Facto said...

And wait, wouldn't we be getting a lot more light if they had drained the swamp, as promised?

Wince said...

When, exactly, did Joe Biden start talking like Sandra Bullock?

"If I were the water in that quarry... man, I would have hit Ol' Joe a lot harder than it did.

This is a big fucking deal, man."

John Salmon said...

Vice Presidents have often been an unimpressive bunch, but Biden's gotta be the worst...at least since Agnew.

I've dived at a quarry as a teen. Most jumps were about 40-20 feet. There was one place where it was a 73 foot jump but though I heard of people that had jumped from there, I never saw it..though it DID happen because one stoner broke his arm, had a compressed vertebrae, and was unconscious from a concussion and had to be fished out. That was in the papers.

But I doubt Biden did a 100 foot jump. And as someone who has also scuba-dived, you still see the light 100 feet down, even if everywhere but "up" is dark, even if you are in water with limited visibility.

They say that type of ultra-high diving can cause brain damage.

Wonder who he plagiarized this from.

Speaking of the undrained swamp, did you see this in the WSJ?

DC has the highest per capita income in the nation, and still is among the fastest growing.

But "we've gotta give them [poor people] light". Yecch.

Rule of thumb. If Biden is talking about his life in a way that somehow makes him look good, it is more likely than not that he is lying. He is lying here.

AllenS said...

Biden sure has been good for laughs, I've gotta admit that.

Call me a doubter: In college, there was a place on the Snake River we would go to for cliff diving/jumping.

Most people were afraid to jump from 30 feet and only maybe 10% would take that height head-first. There was another cliff on the opposite shore that was maybe 45-50 feet high. It is a good long swim, since that part of the river is dammed-up and even with the investment in effort; most wouldn't jump and in all those years I saw only one guy actually dive from that height.

Getting a bloody nose or a wrenched arm was common when jumping from that height and it almost always hurt when you hit the water. So, did slow-Joe dive from over twice that height? I would bet any amount of money that he didn't. Though I would be impressed as hell if he actually did this.

When you're a kid, every height higher than you're comfortable with seems like a hundred feet.

Most adults have the sense to put those childhood memories into perspective.

Speaking of brain damage, here's a quote I've been tossing around for my new email sig line:

“As I heard it, my chances of surviving the surgery were certainly better than fifty-fifty,” he wrote. “But the chances of waking up with serious deficits to my mental faculties were more significant.” - Joseph Biden

will someone pull Biden's voice box out. The man is a total embarrassment. He is a clown, an idiot, a doddering fool, and a cretin. He cannot put an intelligent sentence together to save his life. Biden is a shameful stain on the administration.

Well, all you Sarah dissers got what you deserved. The dumbest White man in America.

The swimming hole is behind the famous Katie's Restaurant in Wilmington, Delaware.

Unless, of course, it was really another Biden tale about someone else, maybe , oh, say, Neil Kinnock?.

100 foot jump?

Most people would be severely injured or killed trying a 10 story jump into water of any sort.

Aw, Joe, he's an Irish storyteller, he is.

Makes you miss Dan Quayle.

And competence.

That was similar to what I thought when I first read the story: "Hmm--I wonder if he hit his head on the bottom." That would indeed explain a lot.
