That room in the modern wing in the final picture is pretty amazing...the art in the room is just dwarfed by the skyline & Millenium park. And, hey, you can see my office.

That last picture is filled with WIN. You look like a character out of The Matrix there, Althouse. Seems like in a moment you will fly through the air and start kicking ass.

But otherwise it seems very sparse, empty, lonely in those spaces. Poor sculptures. Shame they have to spend their lives in such an emotionally cold environment.

Julius, during the day those windows make it anything but cold...

For example.

It didn't feel cold at night either. And the view at night is spectacular. Many, many people are drawn to the windows and stare out at the city lights, which are more fascinating than the art.

KLDAVIS-

Wow, that looks great, out there. So inviting. The combination of natural greenery with inspiring skyscrapers is perfect.

But this makes me feel even more sorry for the sculptures. They can just look out on it, and have to remain stuck in that austere and antiseptic room. Especially the Giacometti, who seems to just want to walk away, but can't because he constrained by his material composition.

Of course, you are probably right, dear Professor, that it is more important how it feels than how it looks like it feels.

Standing in that room actually reminds me a lot of standing out in the sculpture garden at Nasher in Dallas. You really don't notice the "antisceptic" walls. You see the art and the city.

Is he pondering the Magritte in the first picture? I think my wife has the exact same photo of me in that same spot.

Pablo Picasso

Well some people try to pick up girls
And get called assholes
This never happened to Pablo Picasso
He could walk down your street
And girls could not resist his stare and
So Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole

Well the girls would turn the color
Of the avacado when he would drive
Down their street in his El Dorado
He could walk down you street
And girls could not resist his stare
Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole
Not like you
Alright

Well he was only 5'3"
But girls could not resist his stare
Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole
Not in New York

Oh well be not schmuck, be not abnoxious,
Be not bellbottom bummer or asshole
Remember the story of Pablo Picasso
He could walk down your street
And girls could not resist his stare
Pablo Picasso was never called an asshole
Alright this is it

Turn those pics into a flip book and the statue is moonwalking.

Pictures are awesome and the moonwalker is a Giacometti Walking man II. A Giacometti sculpture was just sold for over $100 million.

I love all the impressionist art at the Art Institute but I love the modern stuff.

Took my first film classes at the Art Institute in 1968-69. Silent film classes in the basement on Saturday mornings. Lovely films, lovely space. Warm, welcoming.
Sigh

Ready to Go - A cappella

It's a crack, I'm back yeah standing
On the rooftops shouting out,
Baby I'm ready to go
I'm back and ready to go
From the rooftops shout it out
It's a crack, I'm back yeah standing
On the rooftops having it
Baby I'm ready to go
I'm back and ready to go
From the rooftops shout it out, shout it out

"The View"

La Tirana - La Lupe.

If I don't translate this it will be lost on many of you. (maybe i flatter myself ;)

Depending on your point of view
I am the bad one
Vampire in your novel
Ha!
The great Tirana (female tyranny)
Everyone in this world
Tells the story their way
And makes it seem differently
In the mind of anyone
Unleash about me
Poisonous comments
After making me suffer
The worst of the ordeals
Depending on your point of view
I am the bad one
The one that took up the souls
The great Tirana (female tyranny)

For me it is indifferent
Whatever you continue to comment
The people themselves say
That the day I left
I was the one who came out ahead.
