It's my birthday.

It's hard to celebrate, when every day is so beautiful.

Like yesterday, for example....

Ohhh. That explains much.

Also, Richard Nixon, 9 January.

P.S.: Happy Birthday, too, to MadMan's dad, and John's wife! Is it Ron's birthday soon?

Cheers,
Victoria

Many happy returns of the day.

As Stravinsky once put it (in a birthday tune he wrote for George Balanchine):

"Birthday and Nameday!
Get high on Grand Marnier!
Don't forget a glass for me!"

Where's my radio show?

In honour of Horace, the poet and the commenter birthday boy:

"To me the artist's meed, the ivy wreath
Is very heaven: me the sweet cool of woods,
Where Satyrs frolic with the Nymphs, secludes
From rabble rout, so but Euterpe's breath"

Habeas felicitatem in die natus es!

Cheers,
Victoria

Happy Birthday, and many more! Now that you realize how beautiful Texas is (especially in wintertime), are you moving down here?

Happy birthday! It's my mother's birthday too (she's 77). When I was a kid, we always made ice cream on this day (with a hand-crank maker).

When I was a kid, we always made ice cream on this day (with a hand-crank maker).

It's always the simplest, shared memories of our parents, that we remember best, isn't it, Howzerdo?

Happy Birthday!

I always wonder if kids got shortchanged on presents when their birthdays fell close to Christmas. Plus toys and sports equipment used to be more seasonal than they are today, making it hard to find, say, wiffle balls and bats in the dead of winter. Although one Christmas Santa brought us both new bikes when we were kids.

Happy Birthday, Ann!

I wondered what the likelihood was for another person to come into this "room" today who would share your birth date. I googled, started reading, and then my eyes glazed over. Someone else will need to tell you!

You know what's nice about on line birthday celebrations?

SO many people get out their exclamation points! Perhaps they are the on line equivalent of birthday balloons, and even if not, isn't it fun to think of them that way today?

!!! For you, Ann.

Happy Birthday, Althouse! (It's also one of my best friends' birthdays, and my two-year "cariversary" of my beloved Honda Fit.)

And by the way, every birthday spent in Texas is a beautiful birthday (not that I'm biased or anything, LOL). It's too bad you weren't driving on this trip, or you could have gotten a belated birthday coffee on your way back up through Dallas.
