Yum! At last a healthy dish that looks like a tastes great too. And remember to take your vitamin D in the cold weather.

Now that's a nice looking sandwich! And such beautiful colors-- not only here, but also with the hotel/coffee photos.

MMMM. I want.

YUMMERS!

Just the thing to celebrate tonight.

- Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota announces he will not run again for office.

- Governor Bill Ritter of Colorado also declines to fight for his position.

- And in what must be one of the most brutal nights in recent Democratic Party history, Senator Chris Dodd of Connecticut steps aside as well.

OH HOW SWEET IT IS, THIS 2010. And we're only 5 days in! HEE.

Cheers,
Victoria

Vspurs...Chris Dodd is leaving the sinking DemonRat ship too. If someone can get the GOP leadership to grow a pair and attack them now by running strong conservative nominees and not Democrat clones, then the 10 months up to election time will become a rout.

Fried rice the way Sueko showed us.

Wow. Dodd bows out. He must have something in his past that spells "Club Fed" in bright shiny letters.

Hope this doesn't get in the way of that happy thought.

Let's face it, TradGuy. CT will get either Blumenthal (I believe Lamont will be Governor) or some other Democrat in that seat. No amount of GOP moolah will turn that blue seat into red.

It's Dorgan's scalp that should mean the most to conservatives tonight, although I must say, given President Obama's downdinging of his pharma reimporting measure, I feel sorry Dorgan was backstabbed so publically by his own leadership.

Still, Dorgan was one of the most solid "D" Senators out there, in a blood red State. That's news to savour.

Cheers,
Victoria

You know...

This Night of the Long Knives goes really well with that sammich. Mmm.

1. The sandwich looks disgusting, and the pickles make it worse.

2. Go team! Meanwhile, back in 2007, Blumenthal supported allowing illegal aliens to take college educations away from U.S. citizens (admittedly not adequately explained at the link, so for the explanation see this). Not that Dodd was that great either: he supported the same bill and he tried to funnel money to the NCLR. However, his probable replacement isn't going to be any different on that issue.
3. How come those "strong conservative" candidates are mostly the same as the Dems on that issue? Maybe learning when you're being hustled would be a good thing to concentrate on.

The love that dare not say its name...Sullivan and Johnson.

Charles Johnson explains his concerns here. He's particularly right about the kind of proto-fascist love of violence against "the other" that you see pulsating in the writing of, say, Michael Goldfarb or Robert Stacy McCain...

Get a room will ya.

If the White House ever shuts down their Flickr "basket", I'll take the blame.

Think they expect only adoration, don't think they were expecting, LOL Obama.

Austin has the best food. Even the little run down looking places.

That sandwich looks delicious.

The only way that happens is if the people who've been the backbone of the Tea Parties crash the party.
{pun intended}

What make and model of camera do you use Professor?

Thought by the title that it was going to be British-style fish and chips jammed into a sandwich. Messy, fun, and several times as fattening.

This sandwich could be good, but I like my lox and cream cheese on a bagel... with the red onion and adding a thick slice of tomato. No chips in sight, not with lox.

Chris Dodd is leaving...

One down and sooooo many more to go.

Will Althouse step up and take action?

Feingold has been in the Senate 17 years, since 1993.

Two terms should be the limit for all congress critters.

Oh Doddy boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But never come ye back when summer's in the meadow
Or when the valley's hushed and white with AGW snow
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow
Oh Doddy boy, oh Doddy boy, I despise you so.

And if you come, the flowers will all be dying
And I hope I am dead, as dead I well may be
You'll come and find the place where I am lying
And I hope you trip and break your damn knee.

And I shall hear, your moans of pain above me
And all my dreams will warm and sweeter be
If you'll not fail to get out of the Senate
I'll simply sleep in peace knowing you are not destroying my country.

I'll simply sleep knowing you are not destroying my country

Oh, and Herb Kohl WI senior Senator serving since 1989.

Time..to..go.

It's got lox? Eat it!

I hope that white goo is cream cheese and not mayo. Similarly I hope those are fresh cuke slices and not pickles. With those provisos, the sandwich does look good. A winter tomato would only detract from it.

Paging Bissage.

Oh my! When he reads this, Bissage will be angry and remonstrate with me, but that's a small price to pay to chivvy him out of lurkdom.

Cheers,
Victoria

It might be a considerate idea (both to interested readers as well as hard-working proprietors) to credit the names of these cafes whose dishes you portray as art instead of as food and income. Just a thought.
