"For those who might like a hint or two: 'Gary Oldman' is Albert Goldman..."

Blech. If you have to explain it, all the fun and surprise is gone.

I am reminded of the entry of the lion in the play within a play in "A Midsummer Night's Dream":
You, ladies, you, whose gentle hearts do fear
The smallest monstrous mouse that creeps on floor,
May now perchance both quake and tremble here,
When lion rough in wildest rage doth roar.
Then know that I, one Snug the joiner, am
A lion-fell, nor else no lion's dam;
For, if I should as lion come in strife
Into this place, 'twere pity on my life.
I wonder if the editors' meetings about the need for a prologue were as ridiculous as the discussions among the actors in the old play.
I grant you, friends, if that you should fright the
ladies out of their wits, they would have no more
discretion but to hang us: but I will aggravate my
voice so that I will roar you as gently as any
sucking dove; I will roar you an 'twere any
nightingale.
And now, ladies and gentlemen, the Beatles:

Besides all this he carried Jules Holland, and they trottled off to see a Dickey Mooney film. They bored a little pal who’d later fey, “You have to be a bastard to make it,” and set about makin it so. Jules clod him stovepipe dreams and wrought banjo gourds to his dingers, hastening to “My Son John” on the Vic Damone as he left. The Duchess of Malfi came and went but had never uneasy time with dese women. Mr. Nuffins writes county clare to leggins “too many people” wanted Johnny “too much.” Yet when J’s Muggy died, he dismembered in a stagnant whirlpool of grief. Also precariously he was forced to chase between his parents in a broom, running black and fort between dumb.

Love it.

Cheers,
Victoria

Here's another clue for you all: "The Walrus" was Paul.

The Walrus was John! Ferris Buehler said so.

That seemed incredibly deep when I was 15.

Dem Beatles was cute.

There is nothing deep about the quote,it's about not having a car. Believing in yourself is practical but hardly deep.
I'm not sure I've seen a teen movie that had much depth.

Only The Beatles could get away with such inanity. God bless em.

And it wasn't bad when Lionel Barrymore said it in Frank Capra's "You Can't take It With You" in 1938, but I'm sure John Lennon never saw that film.

I kind of like Nellie McKay (she can be quite charming), and I appreciate what she's doing here, but I dropped off about a third of the way through.

As an aside, after reading multiple books on the Beatles and John Lennon (not including the notorious "Gary Oldman" book), I always come away thinking he was pretty much a jerk.

Funny that the Quiet Beatle had to shout.

And a few more clues:

I am the eggman,
They are the eggmen,
I AM THE WALRUS,
koo-koo-a-joo

I was the dreamweaver,/But now I'm reborn,
I WAS THE WALRUS,/BUT NOW I'M JOHN,
And so dear friends,/You'll just have to carry on,
The dream is over . . .

Haven't seen that clip in 40+ years. The only part I always remembered was (namesake) George as the Man in the Moon: "This thornbush is my thornbush. And this doggie-woggie here is my dog."

It was quite some time before I recognized the source. Maybe after seeing the TV production with Diana ("Mrs. Peel, we're wanted") Rigg playing Helena. She was, of course, what I remembered about that, despite many other notabilities I have become aware of more recently (Dame Judi dressed in about three oak leaves???).

"From all that I have ever heard or read,
The course of true love never did run smooth."

Nice blog. I got a lot of good data. I’ve been following this technology for awhile. It’s interesting how it keeps changing, yet some of the core components remain the same. Have you seen much change since Google made their latest acquisition in the domain?Angeles City Pages
