We're here for a reason

so we can continue the celebration.. just let us handle it.. 'it's not about you'.. well maybe a little ;)

It was the Bette Davis on Althouse that Meade fell in love with.
(everybody knows that :)

Althouse is like Betty Davis :)

Her hair is Harlow gold,
Her lips sweet surprise
Her hands are never cold
She's got Bette Davis eyes
She'll turn her music on
You won't have to think twice
She's pure as New York snow
She got Bette Davis eyes

And she'll tease you
She'll unease you
All the better just to please you
She's precocious
And she knows just what it
Takes to make a pro blush
She got Greta Garbo Stand off sighs,
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll let you take her home
It whets her appetite
She'll lay you on her throne
She got Bette Davis eyes
She'll take a tumble on you
Roll you like you were dice
Until you come out blue
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll expose you
When she snows you
Off your feet with the crumbs she throws you
She's ferocious
And she knows just what it
Takes to make a pro blush
All the boys Think she's a spy,
She's got Bette Davis eyes

And she'll tease you
She'll unease you
All the better just to please you
She's precocious
And she knows just what it
Takes to make a pro blush
All the boys Think she's a spy,
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll tease you
She'll unease you
Just to please you
She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll expose you
When she snows you

they walk by the grass
they look at the sky

Nice, Lem!

But hang on just a few more days, my friend. It will happen. She will let you know.

Now let's let sleeping beauty have her beauty sleep.

(Okay, nice music.) Gracias.

I figured you might be headed our way (Colorado) when you mentioned stopping in Cur-Knee.

Living here means NEVER going to the beach.

No, it WAS a fine day. An extremely fine day. It just wasn't quite THE extremely fine day. Yet. But it will be . Soon. And tomorrow will also be an extremely fine day.

Extremely fine good night to all tonight. hasta maƱana.

there ia a "teachable" moment.. I did conceive of all kinds of fictitious literary explanations as to the absence.. and then when I heard the truth it was as though I was the victim ... when it might not be that way at all.

I'm not gates meade.. at all

Im sorry .. I was kind of ready you know to celebrate so I jumped the gun when nobody said anything.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

I mean i did ask over and over..
what was going on?

its there in the record.. when there was no answer i assumed that it was because i was close to the truth.

Sorry i think i should not come here for a while.

I think my mother was right earlier tonight .. when she told me (its buried there when she called me here i told you guys about it) if I was being any good to anybody.

I want her to be wrong.. but it might be my enmity towards my father talking.
I dont want to just be good to somebody.

I just want to play some more music here..
it the only reason why i really come here.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

Like Stars In My Hands, Daggers In My Heart, Wage War_
Together. As if in silent prayer.
And whenever I looked out, you were there.
Love flowed from our hearts.
How could we ever,
Stand to be apart?
Don't throw your faith in others away,
Because we have ended this way.
Don't ever think I don't care about you,
What you've always know is true.
It always seems sad, things have to change.
Like our feelings, let's not look for blame.
Don't throw your faith in others away,
Because we have ended this way.
Don't ever think I don't care about you,
What you've always known is true.
After all is said and done, I am the sorry one.
Why must we hurt the people we love?
It's like my destiny falls on me from above.
I love you but I can't hang on anymore.
I love you but I can't stay anymore

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

the thing about althouse the blog its the nearness of her ..

Im talking about the discovery that it is a lot of the senderos the via the way whre we go on sometimes because we follow her. its a joy worthy of celebration!

jojo

Jojo is like amba ;)

Look out behind you
Jojo's got his gun
He wouldn't mean to do but
Ya know he likes his fun
Jojo dig those spinning lights
Way out games and dizzy heights below him
Jojo dig those Broadway nights
Flashy lines, you know him

He's got you covered
You'll know it right out front
Hey fifty dollars
He'll get you all you want
Jojo dig those spinning lights
Way out games and dizzy heights below him
And it's all below him
Jojo dig those Broadway nights
Flashy lines, you know him

Ever so rarely that man in a million's born
Gentle and soft, but who'd just as soon off you
For looking the wrong way as not
Jojo, go Jo

His baby stays high
Got to keep her sweet
He keeps her just right
Keeps her on the street
Jojo dig those spinning lights
Way out games and dizzy heights below him
Jojo dig those Broadway nights
Oh, you know him

Do you know you are so nice
Do you care
I'd love to take you home
Jojo digs those spinning lights
Way out games and dizzy heights below him
Broadway nights
You know him

Say, what do you think of gentleman wearing mink
Gentle and soft, but who'd just as soon off you
For looking the wrong way as not
Jojo, go Jo

So you look out behind you
Jojo's got a gun
'Cause he wouldn't mean to
But he likes his fun
Jojo digs those spinning lights
Way out games and dizzy heights below him
Jojo dig those Broadway nights
Flashy lines, you know him
Jojo our love can grow
Jojo, now now now

So how come Althouse never blogged about how a Boston cop called Prof. Gates a "banana-eating jungle monkey"?

Oh, it wasn't Crowley. Crowley merely arrested an innocent man at his own house even though he didn't violate a single law.

No, it was one of his colleages. I guess Gates should feel relieved he only got falsely arrested and didn't have to deal with the officer who calls black people "banana-eating jungle monkeys". If he had had a run0in with THAT cop he might be dead right now. Instead he was merely falsely arrested. I guess he should breath a sigh of relief.

Colorado is nice (and not offense intended) but could it be 6 more hours and Arches, or 10 more hours and Bryce.

Getting married under a hoodoo - God's Cathedral - would be pretty spectacular.

(BTW, Meade, how's your Cockney?)

There's drinks and girls all over
And I've gotta track 'em down
In just a few more hours.
Set 'em up, me darlin'!

I'm getting married in the mornin'!
Ding dong! The bells are gonna chime.
Pull out the stopper!
Let's have a whopper!
But get me to the church on time!

I got ta be there in the mornin',
Spruced up and lookin' in me prime.
Girls, come and kiss me;
Show how you'll miss me.
But get me to the church on time!

If I am dancin',
Roll up the floor.
If I am whistlin',
Whewt me out the door!

For I'm gettin' married in the mornin'.
Ding dong! The bells are gonna chime.
Kick up a rumpus,
But don't lose the compass,
And get me to the church...

(Get 'im to the church...)

For God's sake, get me to the church on time!

So how come you haven't suggested it to her? You know she has repeatedly begged us to explain to her what she needs to post on her own blog. Especially since it's not like you could get your own blog and post about things you think should be posted about, or anything.

Aha! It looks like my mention of Rocky Mountain National Park was on target! After I wrote that comment, I went back and looked for those posts, and was alarmed to discover that it was 4 years ago, in August 2005. Yikes! Where has the time gone?

Have a great trip!

Great place to be for a special moment. I stood where Ann was a few years back...as a sights gawker and rockhound ready to rip some great fossils free of the past...not to get hitched again.

Enjoy your time, Meade & Anne. The last two weeks seem to have been a well-planned prologue...a circuitous journey around America to a true "destination".

Oaf - If you think that it is important enough to start your own Blog, start your own Blog!
Or write Althouse an email on that or 200 news items each day she DOESN'T post on. That you think she should.

------

PS - the dummy who wrote the email did not say Gates was a "banana-eating jungle monkey" . He killed his career by saying Gates was ACTING LIKE...(like!) a banana-eating jungle monkey ...when arrested.
Cops have to understand that blacks are hypersensitive to references to apes, monkeys, jungle..And transgressing that is a career-killer.
In the 90s, another cop lost his job simply by characterizing a confrontation between two very large, angry black men - circling one another, roaring, actually thumping their chests, snarling...in a most honest, but most unfortunate way to a reporter.

"We were called about a disturbance. When we arrived, I swear, what we saw was a scene right out of 'Gorillas In The Mist".

I can't let that picture of Colorado go uncommented upon. I will be fairly close to there a week from today, and was through there 2 1/2 weeks ago.

Growing up, we went to camp every summer near Estes Park, and hiked and rode in the park. They still hike there, but it is more crowded and there are more limitations. And riding into the park is much harder - mostly I think because some of the open spaces in Estes Park have filled in over the last 40 years.

On that recent trip, we started in Dillon, drove down the Blue to Kremling, then up the Colorado to Grand Lake, and over Trail Ridge into Estes. We found a great place in Grand Lake for lunch, with some of the best chili cheese fries ever. Despite having been over Trail Ridge dozens and dozens of times over the last 50 years, I still stopped at a lot of the overlooks, and took as many photos as those driving it the first time do.

I was also able to point to the lake across the valley where my father and 3 of us boys got lost hiking into the lake some 40+ years ago. And, of course, the family namesake, Hayden Spire.

Colleagues? How so? I didn't see any connection of any significance. Who was that guy? There's always someone writing garbage somewhere. Yes, it's bad, but it's not news worthy of commentary and it was no reflection on Crowley.

You do realize that Boston and Cambridge are 2 different cities.

Ann Althouse said...

What if there was some black professor in a Boston university who said something terrible about Crowley? Would that be worth commenting on? Would it reflect on Gates?
