"10 Blogs to Stimulate Your Creativity."

Nice list — from Roger von Oech of Creative Whack Pack and Creative Think — and I'm not just saying that because it starts with me:
A blog by Wisconsin law professor Ann Althouse, it's a salon that takes on six or seven issues every day. Some are political, some are cultural, and some are just for fun. Great comments!
Yeah, comments so great, she has to marry one of her commenters.

But, hey, what's this — a list of "places to avoid when looking for love":
Blog admirers. Yes, Ann Althouse married on[e] of her frequent commentators, but…
(Not married yet. Soon.)

Should I have been more creative about finding love? (What does Roger think?) Keep in mind that I wasn't looking for love. I was doing something I loved, and in that, I found love. Isn't that the best "place" too look for love? In doing something that you love?

How could you have been more creative? The blogger/commenter romance is pretty original, as far as I know.

So Carradine should have been looking for love in his closet? Wasn't he doing just that?

Some people have love thrust upon them.

She "has to marry"?

Whoa, that's a bit of news dropped in an offhand way...

We look forward to seeing the Alt-Meade-let.

Shouldn't that be "former" frequent commenter?

Once upon a time,
There was a man named Meade,
Could not keep away from a lawlady's blog,
Then he got his hands on the real thing,
And now he forgot how to read!

Thrust can be good. Some thrust can be great!

Yes!!

Me too. Writing. Marketing the book met someone online who was marketing her music CD. We were purposely not following the path of other friends who were online, on "those" sites, looking for a match. We were resistant. But it arrived, it grew, it blossomed.

That's long been my advice to single friends, including myself for so long. Don't look for love. Do what you love, and if you don't find love you'll still be happy. If you do... then it's almost certainly going to be a person you'll love more than you can imagine, because they apparently love what you love as well.

Looking for love is angsty, and makes for angsty love. Doing what you love is freeing, and brings, I think, a freeing kind of love--because it's unexpected it's unburdened.

I think the originality here was having a policy--"Not looking for love!"--but being free enough, and creative enough, to just see what happens. A lot of people get lost in their own self-imposed rules of originality.

Love has a way of sneaking up on you and smacking you on the head. It is often better not to see it coming, you might duck.

AJ: What, you couldn't of rhymed "law lady's blog" with a certain word a certain well-known fellow Republican and lover of the Bush Doctrine commenter might of used?

Hi Ann,

Thanks for the shout-out. (I'm the one mentioned in the post who is not getting married to Ann.)

A tip o' the hat to all who post their comments here: you're the ones who help make this blog "sing!" You've "stirred up" my gray matter.

Link correction: There was a broken link in the list mentioned by Ann. The correct link for the Creative Whack Pack app is http://budurl.com/whackpack

Oh, remember that fateful decision you made back in '04 when you enabled comments?

Think how different your life would be today had you gone the Andrew Sullivan route and kept the hordes out!

That's right, Roger, we sing the bloggy electric!

Now that makes me want to quote Bull Durham, but I will leave that to others.

You made a liar out of me (by reading this thread). Heh.

Nah- this is a family blog until the "fellow Republican" shows up and tells us all the things we never really want to know.

The difference between a blog and Twitter is a blog is for marriage, but Twitter is for a quickie!

He was obviously looking at my comments.

I went out to dindin last night and spent over 200.00 and the meal was gross. I hate going out to a nice dindin and having a crappy meal. I paid for my friend and my dindin. That's the kind of friend I am. Very generous.

There were many fags at the restaurant. Fags are everywhere.

Wedding presents from admiring commenters will soon be pouring in. Do you want us to mail them directly to the University of Wisconsin Law School?

Consumer Reports listed Fish Eye 2007, Banrock Station 2007 and Black Box Monterey County 2008 as "very good" boxed wine. Any preferences?

And was that your Audi that passed me doing about 100 on I10 outside of New Orleans last Sunday?

Finding when not looking is different than looking and then finding.

Wish I had time to explain more, but I've got to attend to other things.

After protesting, what else but a hungry-man dinner to keep you going.

If you really practiced any lust worth talking about, you wouldn't be type type typing in front of your computer screen all the live long day - you'd be out doing the lustful things you only talk about.

There has to be a comical connection between this post and the previous comments about dying doing what you love.....but I just don't have the right take. Anyone?

The RLC blog is stimulating me because I have to struggle to understand where he is coming from. I think that von Oech needs to get a cooler last name and quit trying so hard. At least he complemented the Professor's vibe.

I found that to be the case for me too, td, at least when I first started reading Richard's blog. He writes so beautifully that you almost get lost in how he might sift to pick one word instead of another.

Don't misunderstand, he will always be stimulating for that reason alone, but now I see the idea is not to understand his mind so much as explore my own.

Yes, I wrote "looking for love in all the wrong places!" As a new blogger, completely surprised by cheekiness of male commentators... i have a lot to learn and this has been a great, absolute great lesson on the blogger/commentator romance... this will be my primer. I do wonder, however, from one lady to another, what were the magic words that lead Mr. Meade to have a date with you...
