There's a bee in the picture too.
"be just right."
Could I steal it??
> There's a bee in the picture too. They look like they're trying to stare each other down.
Remember the daishiki-wearing black actress in the film version of the musical HAIR?A riot of bright silken colours; decidedly an Eastern feel.
It looks especially vivid on my new hi-def computer monitor.
Is that with the fisheye lens? If so, it's one of the few fisheye pics I like. Very nice.
OT: Hilarious Times article on Sarah Palin (It may explain why and my cousin Maudie are bedazzled by Palin!).And the joy of Mrs Palin, what endears her to Middle America and fascinates every British woman I know, is her quality that cannot be bottled and sold: authenticity. It shines out, even through her shopping-channel presentation, the Day-Glo patriotism of her XXL Old Glory lapel pin, her talent for talking while perpetually smiling (which, ask Gordon Brown, is a tough trick to pull off without looking deranged), the cheeseball winks, the local DJ shout-outs to kids at her brother's elementary school, the exaggerated nose wrinkles when uttering something as disgusting as “single-sex relationships” or “redistribution of wealth”. She is Nicole Kidman as the driven weather girl in To Die For, Reese Witherspoon, the ruthless high-school candidate in Election. A candy-coated ball of granite. When she offered “a bit of reality from Wasilla Main Street”, Joe Biden had to counter quickly with the word down in Kay's Restaurant and the Home's Depot in Wilmington. When Mrs Palin played her son in Iraq, her special-needs baby, her worries about college fees, Mr Biden had to match it with a soldier boy of his own and raise her with his dead wife and daughter, then an emotionally welling remembrance of struggling to raise two injured sons alone. The second paragraph: butter.Cheers,Victoria
Forgot The Times (UK) link.Prof. Althouse won't blog about this, probably, but I rather think I will later.
victoria, is it possible to say there might be some similarities between miss ann and sarah palin?might sincere and authentic and honest and down-to-earth goodness describe both miss ann and sarah palin?-
or might that be too much-
Mum's the word.
Hey Ann Althouse, this is a startlingly beautiful picture. It took a great eye to understand that before snapping away.
SNL is opening with their take on the VP debate. Queen Latifah is playing Gwen Ifill, and she started off by plugging her upcoming book. And Tina Fey as Palin said an extra "Maverick" for those playing drinking games at home.
Did anyone catch the Lawrence Welk sketch? Oh. My. Goodness. That was the funniest sketch I've seen on SNL in the last 5 years, easy. Both my husband and I were doubled over and laughing well into the commercial. And, just out of curiosity: Is there really a woman with the high forehead and little hands who was on Lawrence Welk?

My boyfriend and I were watching and I told him I vaguely remember the Lawrence Welk Show. He didn't know it at all.I know the Lennon Sisters from the fact they were Nixon's favourite singers (or so), but what was the inside joke about the creepy freak with the mini-hands?BTW, I missed the VP skit. We tuned in too late. :((Cheers,Victoria
might sincere and authentic and honest and down-to-earth goodness describe both miss ann and sarah palin?-I think there's more similarity with Biden and Ann!*G*
OT:Just checked a big cinema chain which usually had 1 AM or later showings to see if I could catch a movie at this late hour. But I notice that even on the weekend they close early! (latest showing 11:00). That is odd. Also, ticket prices went up by a dollar locally at both AMC and Regal here.Anyone else been seeing these trends?
"There's a bee in the picture too."Two bees.Or not two bees? That is the question.
Does anyone honestly buy the notion of Jimmy Carter's resurrection? I sure don't. If he'd only done that "Habitat for Humanity" thing and never stuck his nose in North Korea ans so on, MAYBE. But he had to go interfering with US foreign policy with nasty dictators all this time. Jimmy Carter = EPIC FAILURE>
peter hoh said..."And Tina Fey as Palin said an extra 'Maverick' for those playing drinking games at home."I think it's going to be pretty painful for her, stuck playing someone she can't stand for the next 12 years.
I think it's going to be pretty painful for her, stuck playing someone she can't stand for the next 12 years.Simon, guys...I think I just weed myself. This is hilarious.Do you want to know what Palin wrote on a guy's camera with a felt tip pen, he asked for an autograph Saturday?THIS.LOL!

The Buckeye is a beautiful thing, one of America's most emblematic and cherished butterflies.I so wish I had a camera to have been handy to capture a Luna moth that flew into my wife's hair on a boatdock last summer. It looked like an emerald ornament by the dock light and the half moon, and I told her to freeze so she wouldn't hurt it by flailing about at it.
I got the SNL VP debate!Queen Latifah Does Gwen Ifullofit On SNLThey're shutting uploads down on Youtube, so this is the same as the kind seen on HuffPo. It's over 11 minutes long. The Bailout Bill skit was way better!Cheers,Victoria
For bailout comedy, nothing tops the Daily Show.
re. Simon @ 12:06 -- I seem to think that any comic actor worth his/her salt would love to impersonate someone they dislike. I suspect that it's harder to make fun of someone you like. If there's an impersonator out there who thinks otherwise, speak up.
