Biden "is a distinctive blend of pit bull and odd duck whose weak filters make him capable of blurting out pretty much anything."

I was making fun of that muddle of images from a NYT article. In the comments, Reader_iam exclaimed:
OH THE VISUALS, OH THE VISUALS!
OH MY [MIND'S] EYES!
OH MY [MIND'S] EYES!

What an onslaught of imagery! An assault, really.

Freeman Hunt was all:
You mean the duck with the pit bull head dancing on a vaudeville stage with some kind of engine that requires filters coming out of its back and puffing smoke??

And Palladian made this:

It's a flubadub.

``Designed by Milt Neal as an amalgamation of different animals, the Flubadub was to be Howdy's new pet; it was also written in as the cover story for Bob Smith's desperately needed two-week vacation in February 1949. Before he left, Smith told the kids he was departing on a hunting expedition to find the Flubadub, a gawky and woolly-headed creature with a flowerpot hat. The Flub had a duck's head, a dachshund's body, a seal's flippers, a pit's tail, a cat's whiskers, and the memory of an elephant. `She shouldn't be hard to spot,' Buffalo Bob told the Peanuts.''

Ha, too late. there's a web rumor saying that Talkin Joe will be off the ticket on Oct. 5th, after the first VP debate. This rumor is just floating around waiting for the msm big guys to notice; Heh!

So, who'll take Joe's place on the ticket? is there anyone ready to step into Joe's VP slot? Is there anyone who'd want that spot on the ticket?

This election year might just be the most interesting and exciting one ever. Indeed!

Hmm, the debate is on a Thursday, 2 Oct. And he would be dumped on a Sunday?

BTW, how inane is it to have the first Presidential debate on a Friday? Ratings would be much higher on Wednesday or Thursday.

vbspurs said...

Google came up with one solitary link to the Oct. 5th step-down scenario.

From TruthorFiction.com

I used to think so, but it would be suicidal for Obama to do it after the VP debate. He had a 2-week tiny window after Palinpalooza. If he didn't pull the trigger then, it would nonsensical to do it now, when momentum is on his side again.

The One is Hoping that Biden trounces Gov. Palin, a poor hope. But, if Biden is trounced himself then it's change time cuz the claim will be that nasty Palin caused Biden's "heartless attack!"

The cry will be: "Vote for The One, who's got a heart!"

BTW - Did anybody notice how Palin seemed to have been disinvited... SNL ;)

Anybody willing to spill the beans to Drudge?

Joe Biden is an articulate nerd, which is to say he has a totally tin ear when it comes to sophisticated human interactions and relationships. That's why he can call Obama "clean and articlate." He didn't mean anything by it. It was in fact a compliment in his eyes. He just has no sense of sophisticated human relationships.

I saw him doing an interview with Obama right after he was tapped to be vice-president. He kept turning to Obama and complimenting him to his face. It was painful to watch and in my opinion embarrassing to Obama. The man just has no sense of human relationships. Biden's a beta male in an alpha male job and he doesn't have a clue how to carry it off.

Hmm, on the surface that's true, I think. He is incredibly awkward in his demeanour. He's what they might call in Spanish un metepatas -- the political equivalent of Betty La Fea.

But like a lot of ex-stutterers, they overcompensate by being gregarious and pal-sy.

The wonder is that he's gotten this far, and done very well for himself. But should it make anyone wonder? He's really an easy person to read, and once you get past that, he has a measure of decency and shame, if not talent.

When you think about it, Joe Biden is a more driven version of Al Gore.

The latter is the guy who wants to connect to everyone, to seem cooler than he really ever was.

Whereas Gore felt he could get ahead by saying too much, Biden never felt he could if he shut up.

Cheers,
Victoria

Having watched both, Bork and Thomas hearings I believe you are right.

Lem the artificially intelligent said...

BTW - Why is there a blatant partisan pic of Caroline Kennedy on Wikipedia?

vbspurs said...

They say that he didn't allow a list of pornographic VHS tapes to be used as evidence against Clarence Thomas during the Hearings. NPR said today that many people believe had he done so, it would've altered the vote against him.

(They would say that)

Jesus, you know, the more I think about it, the more I think our current political divisions stem from the Bork hearings.

A line in the sand was drawn by Republicans and Democrats on that occasion, which boiled over in the Clarence hearings, and came to a head socially during the OJ trial. The mess of Lewinskygate, and Bush Derangement Syndrome, are all its descendants.

I don't think America has been the same since.

That seems to be the case, as it is from someone's Flickr account.

You got it.

Judge Bork was, in my opinion, the most qualified person ever to be considered for the Supreme court of these united states.

His only drawback really was that he happened to put down on paper (brilliantly) his thoughts.

Imagine that.

The only criticism of Biden I found to have some effect on me is his meager charity donations.

But at the same time, I don't think is a disqualifier either.

Donations are as personal as religion.

Again.. Ellen has chosen the road less traveled, shes not bitter like Rosie, even when she has a reason to be. I think in her hart she just happens to be in the room when revolutions were going off, namely Oprah and her own private life in public.

I admire that resilience in the face of those kinds of odds.

You all know that Michelle Obama consciously cultivates a Jackie Kennedy look, right?

Well Sarah Palin doesn't have to jump through major hoops to look a lot like the lady. Facially and body-wise, they're very close.
