Hillary Clinton has "scandalous information" about Barack Obama.

Robert Novak tells us:
Agents of Sen. Hillary Clinton are spreading the word in Democratic circles that she has scandalous information about her principal opponent for the party's presidential nomination, Sen. Barack Obama, but has decided not to use it. The nature of the alleged scandal was not disclosed.
She's decided not to use it? Seems to me this is using it.
This word-of-mouth among Democrats makes Obama look vulnerable and Clinton look prudent.
Prudent... devious... pick your adjective.

UPDATE: The Clinton response:
"A Republican-leaning journalist runs a blind item designed to set Democrats against one another. Experienced Democrats see this for what it is. Others get distracted and thrown off their games," Clinton spokesman Howard Wolfson said in a statement.

"We have no idea what Mr. Novak's item is about and reject it totally."

If there is actually serious info, then ultimately the GOP and the public will find it. Particularly now that Hillary is alerting us. How kind of her. a public duty I guess. I know she feels that way about all Bill's issues.

my analysis: she is concerned Obama may have a chance and wants to destroy his fund raising

my prediction: whatever it is, it is more likely to be something that hurts more in the General election than the primaries. Cause if it really hurt now , she'd tease us with more.

example: Obama's Muslim backround

Well, there you have it!

I'm curious what will happen to Imus. His show may suck because he's been castrated on mocking dysfunctional blacks (probable current line : there's nothing amusing about blacks), but he certainly hasn't been on mocking Hillary, the cause of Imus's firing.

The most interesting thing in this whole ridiculous media election campaign will be the Clinton machine vs. real people.

Ack. Sorry about the typo. Fixed.

Not to worry rh, "mocking dysfunctional blacks," if it was ever truly a part of his show, had nothing to do with his current popularity.

The operative unspoken word is yet. They haven't decided to use the information yet.

The Hillary! just signaled opposition researchers and prospective Sidney Blumenthal's everywhere that the game to go destroy Obama just began.

Eight years of Hillary! and her Ringwraiths will do great things for the Republic!

Let me guess. He has a child with dark skin. Might work in South Carolina.

But Hillary's hands are clean.
Plausible deniability.
Now she can mark that one off her Nixon list.

Damn you, Pogo! I was hoping to be the first to use the "N"-word about Mrs. Clinton.

It's not an original thought, but I didn't have to read one line of this, when my inner Boomer screamed, "Nixon lives!" Oh, I was hoping for it to be 1968 again. But it's 2007, and I'm old. Damn.

Being from Massachusetts, I enjoy historical reenacting as much as the next person, and I wouldn't mind returning to the 60's, maybe, but why does someone have to do Nixon again?

The good thing about Giuliani is that he comes pre-scandaled.

"Yet" Sounds like a threat ... very presidential. But of course its not her.

A story circulated - in the MSM, not just blogs - about two weeks ago that the LAT had a huge career-ending sex scandal about one of the Presidential candidates but was sitting on it (no pun intended) until they'd decided on the ethics of running it. Perhaps this relates to the same thing.

I have to admit that it'd be quite amusing to see the "politics of hope" shipwrecked by the natural tendancies of the politicians of normal - for him to exposed as the fraud he is not only on an intellectual but personal level.

Of the scandalous information whoops I mean scurrilous rumors that I've heard about presidential candidates, I like Hill 'n' Huma's alleged lesbo love affair the best: http://slog.thestranger.com/2007/11/hillary_clintons_lesbian_lover

Maybe Obama is having sex with Huma Abedin.

Yes, those Rutgers student athletes were surely dysfunctional with their education and extracurricular activities.

Rhhardin,

You sure seem to always have race on the brain, Bigot.

Let Obama get closer to her in the polls and see how long it takes for Sid Blumenthal and his cohorts as well as the MSM get it out to the public. She is just giving him fair warning to cool it or she will release the information. I would bet she has a whole bunch of things left over from the FBI files that she will be ready to unleash on anyone who dares to challenge her. The next president will be either Hillary or the one who is strong enough in themselves to tell her to publish and be damned.

What she has to be wary of is the scandalous information people have on her and are in a position to get the media to publish it. That is the one I am waiting for.

I agree with Ann, it's devious of her "not to use it" but have the campaign spreading the word that she "isn't using it." It's political genius, that's the kind of politics that gets people elected. Having Bill Clinton as a political adviser is going to be tough to beat.

Chris Matthews: So now we turn to David Gregory reporting from Iowa. David what have you heard about this rumor that Hillary has some scandalous information about Barack Obama.
David Gregory; Well Chris, there doesn't seem to be much documentation as to these rumors so the Clinton campaign will not confirm them.
Chris Matthews: No stains on a dress.
David Gregory: No, the only documentation seems to be a photo from the Down Low Motel in Davenport where Senator Obama is staying. There just seems to be a photo of the door of his room where two rare clumbers were tied to the doorknob.
Chris Matthews: Interesting.

This anonymously sourced allegation of unspecified “scandalous information” would best be described as raw sewage. It’s remarkable that even a bottom feeder like Ann Althouse would be able to stomach such toxic filth.

Chris Matthews: We have further news on the scandalous rumors about Barack Obama that the Clinton camp has refused to confirm. Lets talk to Campbell Brown on the campaign trail. Campbell I understand that you got to speak to Robert Novack who was the source quoted as saying the Clinton campaign has floated a rumor about Senator Obama?
Campbell Brown: Yes Chris, I have spoken with Mr. Novack and he has confirmed that he had heard a scandalous rumor about Senator Obama from the Clinton campaign.
Chris Matthews: Well what is the rumor?
Campbell Brown: Well Mr. Novack said that they are spreading the rumor that Senator Obama is a Negro.
Chris Matthews: Interesting.

Another Jimmy Swaggart moment, perhaps?

Interesting bit of theatre doing on now between the two campaigns.

Obama's campaign says if she has something scandalous about him she should bring it out in the open and he will address it.

Right after that Clinton's campaign came out with the statement that they had no idea what the whole thing was about because they had no scandalous information about Obama to bring out.

That brings up the question as to who do you believe in this instance. I know who I believe and he is not running for president.

Obama's a "fraud" on both an intellectual and a personal level?
I suppose you'll link back to your own blog to "prove" this.

Scandalous information? You mean like he loaned WJC a cigar a few years back?
