How is it I never seeThe waves that bring her words to meFor though unseen they drift aroundThey catch my breath and knock me downI feel them quickly swirling byAs they withdraw with my replyAnd slip into the dark of nightAs I attempt to stay uprightInstead I'm stranded on my kneesAs words depart upon the breezeThat quickly drifts away from hereAnd possibly won't reach her earIf we could see these many wavesThat flow through clouds and sunken cavesShe'd sense at least the words that sought herOn the wind and underwater(Phish)
We've been so caught up in the subject of personnelPlaying and acting, and slaving and bathing ourselvesWho lies and who tries to come over everyonePainting a picture to show everyone in the worldFearing is naturalNew names and faces can bringBuild ups and barriers hiding behind everythingWho lies and who tries to come over everyonePainting a picture to show everyone in the world(Alice Cooper)
The white waves repeatedly tryTo wash the brown beach clean;Failed and wan, back down they slide:They retreat: washed-out has-beens.
BreakingThe dark and damp sands Need and frustrate but capitulate to the wavesBy the light of our star and on account of the moon.
A wave of icing on a cinnamon roll?
Looks less like a breaking wave than a broken one, with the dark background showing all around the image edges like a cut and paste profound art statement.Or, could be a warning about Global Freezing writ in Asian or Arabic upon the rock and lichen at the poles.

I don't see "a torn poster on a rusty wall" or a sailboat or anything :(How does a wall get rusty? Is it a metal shed? Help me!
That looks like graffiti on the wall; is it not?
Jane--thanks for printing the "Wave" lyrics in their original Portuguese. I perform Jobim tunes all the time as instrumentals, but it's not often that I get to see the lyrics as "Tom" (Jobim's nickname) meant them. Beautiful stuff...
