We will still have Kerry to kick around.

I thought he was withdrawing from the political fray, but apparently, he was redeploying. Here he is, botching up a storm. The long national nightmare continues.

Anticipated next scene: Kerry proffers some mind-bending explanation of how his use of the words "international pariah" didn't mean what Fox News manipulated unintelligent plebes into believing.

"international pariah"

Obviously, he was once again making a joke, unfortunately he left out 263 other words, and that's why it is being misconstrued.

I don't think Kerry is going to get kicked around much over this. This happens every year at Davos. Now it's his turn. There once was a time in which any American, especially in the political class, who publicly ran down his country overseas was himself made a social pariah for his infidelity and lack of grace. That time has long since past. He'll come home to an invite on Letterman or the Daily Show to explain to the rest of us how it felt to take such a courageous stand before a collection of international weasels disliking the U.S.

It is increasingly clear, despite all their transparent protestations to the contrary, that the Left desperately wishes the United States were some other country, any other country - probably France - than the country it is. They ache and yearn for all things western European: their economies; their tax rates; their regulatory regimes; their health care; their foreign policies; their defense policies and capabilities.

They aren't transgender; they're transnational and hate the nationality with which they were born. But we dare not question their patriotism.

As a Mass resident and someone who voted for Kerry I wish he would just go away. This guy he is giving an autograph to said 6 months ago that gays should be rounded up and killed-great.

I would love to have someone run against him here for his senate seat. Not a republican though because they don't have a chance in Massachusetts. There is this ridiculous theme out here to recruit a professional baseball player Curt Schilling, who is a social conservative against stem cell research and pro-life-won't fly here in Massachusetts. That's why Romney was pro choice when he ran in 1994 and 2002 but has since "evolved".

I would love to see Barney Frank run against Kerry

Speaking as a former Massachusetts resident, this is sad but true. Massachusetts is in fact a one-party state, as shown by its all-Dem congressional delegation. The only exception to this rule is its occasional willingness to elect Republican governors, like Romney, to act as a check on the excesses of the almost all-Dem legislature.

Even though Kerry hasn't had a new idea since 1972, he need have no fear of a Democratic challenger.
Massachusetts, like its fellow one-party states in the Third World, does not brook intra-party challenges for top offices.

Maybe Massachusetts could draft Yaz or Fisk to run! Preferably Yaz; he looks Senatorial. Of course they can't draft Jim Rice...because he's not a Hall of Famer! Someone must fight Evil Jim Bunning!

I think the fact that may resonate over the next few days is that Kerry was sitting four feet away from Mohammad Khatami.

If the blogs/radio/White House don't pick this up and run with it, they've lost a juicy opportunity.

It is sad really. A US senator has become one of those idol tryouts who cannot sing but think they can. Is Kerry delusional too?

Kerry is just keeping with a lifelong habit of extra-legal cozying up to (engaging with) any despot that the US deems its enemy. I think he aspires to be the Neville Chamberlain of his day! Sad.

If Tom Brady wasn't still playing football he would be great-also his current girl, Giselle, would be nice to see campaigning through the state.

My favorite revisionism is the:

When we walk away from global warming, Kyoto,

When Al Gore was our limp wristed (no offense meant to gays on this one) chief negotiator for Kyoto in 97, the Senate passed a "Sense of the Senate" resolution 95-0 (absent Kerry and Kennedy) making it clear to the Clinton Admin that the treaty was dead without changes. Gore didn't get any changes, Clinton never submitted the signed treaty to the Senate, and all of a sudden it's Bush's fault?

You are such a xenophobe. So, not every culture embraces being gay. Who are you to judge them?

No wonder the rest of the world hates us. Our imperialism knows no bounds. Not only do we go over there and kill their people but we want to change their religion too?

It's the genocide of the Native Americans all over again!!!!

Gerald --

That last post was meant to be taken as parody, right?

I was wrong when I said Kerry and Kennedy didn't vote in the Senate to reject Kyoto.

They were not sponsors of the amendment rejecting it, but they did vote to reject the Kyoto treaty.

The bigger question is what value could Davos meeting possibly offer when it invites the same old fossils like Kerry to its annual event? Has he even had an original thought or idea in the past 20 years?

And don't get me wrong, I went out and bought a dog to kick so I am no longer picking on Kerry.

Kerry lacks only two traits:

Common sense and common decency.

In many ways he's quite uncommon: he's uncommonly out of touch, uncommonly self absorbed, uncommonly arrogant. And he's an uncommonly successful gold digger.

Is that right, strictly speaking? Per Wikipedia, "before the Kyoto Protocol was finalized (although it had been fully negotiated, and a penultimate draft was finished), the U.S. Senate unanimously passed by a 95–0 vote the Byrd-Hagel Resolution ... which stated the sense of the Senate was that the United States should not be a signatory to any protocol that did not include binding targets and timetables for developing as well as industrialized nations or 'would result in serious harm to the economy of the United States' ... [Consequentially,] [t]he Clinton Administration never submitted the protocol to the Senate for ratification." Kerry certainly voted for the Byrd-Hagel resolution, which was adopted without a single dissenting vote.

You are correct Simon. Since Clinton didn't have the balls to submit his Kyoto treaty, Kerry didn't actually reject it. Kerry just voted to say that if Clinton submitted it without changes, Kerry WOULD reject it.

Yes.

But you need not go so far, as to journey to Western Europe, Tim, for your analogy.

When asked, most many of these progressives point to our neighbour to the North, Canada, as the perfect nation.

Peaceful -- who has gripes with Canadians?

Humane -- look at their social programmes!

Inviting -- millions of refugees from the Middle East have come to Canada in the 1990s, and they live without hassles there!

I say this with great love and respect for Canada (it may be that I will have a strong link to Canada myself soon, at that).

But I'm tired of Canada being held up as the liberal wet dream of a nation -- by certain people.

I mean, what about the mooseburgers??

They aren't transgender; they're transnational and hate the nationality with which they were born. But we dare not question their patriotism.

Oh no, heaven forbid!

Why, as they rightly quote Dr. Samuel Johnson, didn't you know that patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel?

Of course you did.

That's why scoundrels are known for their morals, ideals, and fidelity.

Cheers,
Victoria

I also love Canada and France and Italy and all the rest of our peace-loving allies. But it's good for them to remember that their diffident semi-pacifism relies on the big dog, the United States, keeping the bad guys outside the wire.

My wife, who, in the course of 18 years of marriage, has almost never said anything bad about anyone, called John Kerry, "the most loathsome human being I've ever met." She's a liberal Catholic with a graduate degree in international relations, who happened to encounter John Kerry at the Fletcher School upon a time. Meeting him and hearing him speak in person made her a confirmed Bush voter when the time came. I was shocked. She's politically to the left of me, and I wouldn't vote for George Bush. I also wouldn't think of voting for John Kerry, so the top of my ballot was unpolluted by either of these twerps.

My wife was spoiled by meeting and spending some time with Paul Tsongas, who was the Senator and Presidential candidate we should have had. May he rest in peace.

Had Tsongas lived, Kerry would have been consigned to his proper political station: The EX-Lieutenant Governor.

Victoria, of course, has it right. What a tool, indeed.

There is hope for our great Union. There appears to be near unanimity on both sides of the aisle.

Resolved that John Kerry is a tool!

Kerry has become a disgrace. I am embarassed for him. He is irrelevant. I really wish he would retire to Nantucket. He could retire to a good life helping Mama T dole out her money.

I guess anything to take the mind off the beat down you took last Nov, and the inevitable beat down you will take again in '08. Bush has single handely killed the Republican Party, and conservatives everywhere. And you guys like his boots. Why?

Ann,

Oh come on! John Kerry isn't dreadful because he's a "Lefty moonbat." He's loathsome and dreadful because he's such a phony, because he is hypocrisy incarnate. He spouts patent nonsense in his sonorous, vaguely Yankee, poseur voice, does nine idiotic things before lunch, and we're supposed to take him seriously?

As I implied above, the only politician I can think of worse than George Bush is John Kerry, but not by much. And Old Dad has it about right. I think the motion, "Resolved that both sides of the isle want John Kerry to just go away," would pass nearly unanimously.

Thank you, once again, to everyone who worked to keep this jack-ass out of the White House during the war against Islamo-nazism.

In particular I'd like to thank the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth and the swing voters of Ohio. (I'm amongst the latter, so I'm patting myself on the back.)

And a quick prayer to the poor goose Kerry killed in a photo-op in order to dupe the heartland. Little goose, you didn't die in vain. Look down from goose heaven and see how it all backfired on this silly man.

Although the paper that claims it contains "all the news fit to print" didn't find Kerry's latest enemy-aiding idiocy fit for its readers to know about, Iran's media is having a field day.

Check out the front page of Iran Daily on Little Green Footballs.

That this senator - whose entire approach to "statesmanship" after 9/11 was to try and work out what insincere positions he'd have to take to help his own short-term political ambitions and con his way into the White House - came within an inch of being Commander-in-Chief is frightening.

Unfortunately his defeat in 2004 was not enough to keep him from emboldening the enemies of civilization.

John Kerry: Get off the stage. Or, the next time you call a country an international pariah, maybe say it about...oh, I dunno...Iran? Instead of signing autographs for Iran's leaders as they prepare to nuke millions of people to death. Do you really wanna wind up on the wall of a Tehran museum too?

Kerry hopes that the eventual '08 nominee will embrace his "sensitive war on terror" strategy.

Step one: Tell terrorists your reasons why our country is loathesome -- maybe they'll adopt your reasons, and abandon theirs. That way, the next time they burn up skyscrapers, they can say it was about, say, "Kyoto," and immediately win support.

I'm sure the next 18 months will be a living teach-in on this strategy.

I guess I'm not enough of a regular yet. Isn't the fact that you can't be positive that I'm joking something of an indictment of many who protest the war? After all, there isn't anything in my complaints that isn't an actual lefty talking point. They just don't usually combine them in the way I did.

All partisan hackery and rigid, political junkie need to re-fight the last election. Typical.

You know, if I were a Republican, I would be having wet dreams about John Kerry coming back as a leading Democratic spokesman/candidate.

Please, for God's sake, can't we leave this idiot behind and get on with something like a plausible progressive agenda that includes things like single-payer health care, tax reform, realistic and meaningful environmental policies, and a plan to prevail against our enemies in this unfortunately-named and nearly totally botched war on terror?

Yas, yas, I know John Kerry has all these wonderful positions on all these things, etc. Trouble is, he is so phony that it makes your hair hurt. You know the old saw, "Would you buy a used car from Candidate X?" Well, it's become obvious that John Kerry couldn't sell a new BMW for pocket change. Anyone can have positions and even articulate them well, but if he or she doesn't inspire confidence, what's the point? It's called leadership, and John Kerry simply doesn't have it.

Ad hominem attack? You bet.
